Hey Hey ,Nice Job . Always like a Restored work of Art..... The XLCH Rocked a lot of Our Worlds. Lots of Memories blasting down the highway with my bros making those straight pipes sing !!!!
all harley motors until the evo spits out oil. its not a problem, its a function for oil pressure. the transmission usually slips cause of the final drive is on too tight and or the shift linkage is out of shape. i only have problems with my transmission when it makes sounds. or mechanical error like the shift forks are in wrong. well just a little input of my knowledge.
Does the oil plug face straight down (for easy drainage)? Have you tried a thin rubber or plastic self-sealing washer that fits over the threaded underside of the oil drain plug? I should think any Harley dealer could provide you with one or perhaps the drain plug should be replaced? For the plastic washer, you might find one at Lowe's or Home Depot in the hardware section. At Lowe's, they have a supplier named Hillman that provides them with a large selection of nuts, bolts and screws...and washers. Perhaps a brass washer is what will work. Or, go to Grainger, MSC or other industrial supplier and inquire at the front desk if they carry something like that. You just need something that is a soft material that will conform itself to the plug and spread just enough when tightened to seal it. Bring the plug with you so they know what size you need. Good luck.

On my 68 i found that if the motor starts easily......nothing wrong. If your having issues starting(other than low temps) get a wrench out

The cylinders and heads should be painted silver, not black for 61
I thought that they were supposed to some kind of aluminium paint that looked different to silver. Is that right?
