Hell even my mom whooped our butts in MK3. But these were the times. I missed early 2000s,

My dad bought me this game for birthday in 2002. I was staying with him that weekend, so had to wait until the next day to go home with to my mom where my Xbox was. I had no idea Midway stuff so many extras into the game. This mini-documentary, Adema's Immortal music video, the behind-the-scenes video, etc.

As much as I love Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter is the main reason fighting games thrive as much as they do back then and even now. SFIV reinvigorated the entire genre and was basically responsible for the large resurgence in fighters today.

The biggest problem is trying to emulate the newer MK games on arcade emulators and etc. I have many memories as a kid and teenager playing MK games on arcade and the home consoles.

    I can just picture it...
A group of people are waiting to play Street Fighter II, but then the Mortal Kombat 1 Arcade machine is brought in, people see how cool it is & all the people gathered around Street Fighter II rush over to Mortal Kombat 1.
I imagine it was like that with every Arcade released Mortal Kombat game (provided there was a Street Fighter game to compete against it).
    Move over Street Fighter!
I even said that when I bought my copy of MK8 (2011), "Move over Super SF IV!".

I chronologically consider Mortal Kombat (2011) (which is just what I call that game now) as the 8th 1 (Mortal Kombat Armageddon being Mortal Kombat 7).
But yes, I will consider it the 9th installment after Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe which is the 8th.
From what I learned, Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe is non canon.
To (hopefully) clear up confusion, here is what I consider the chronology...
      Mortal Kombat: Special Forces (prequel)
      Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero (prequel)
      Mortal Kombat (1992) = #1
      Mortal Kombat II = #2
      Mortal Kombat 3 = #3
      Mortal Kombat 4 = #4
Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance = #5
      Mortal Kombat Deception = #6
      Mortal Kombat Armageddon = #7
      Mortal Kombat (2011) = #8
      Mortal Kombat X = #9
