Let's talk about the systems used in high-pressure aeroponics.
1. Misting System - includes the nozzles/flow-rate, and misting interval.
Learn flow-rates: Accumulative Flow-rates. Hour and Day. to determine nutrient usage, tube sizing, nutrient residence time - how long to get from point A to B.
2. Delivery System - includes the tubing length and size. The number of fittings like elbows, tees, and valves. The inputs would be length, height, inside diameter, sometimes material type. We can determine the pump needed or losses due to the delivery system. The flow rate plays a vital role in this.
3. Charging System - includes the pressure pump and the pressure tank.
Flow range of pump flow rate (GPM), power usage in watts (current or amps), the discharge pressure of the pump. Running duty cycle continuous or periodic run time. Pump demands are depended on the Misting and Delivery Systems.

I would also like to mention that some pumps have an upper limit on how frequently they can be started and stopped within a given amount of time. This is something you will want to check the specs for as well when selecting a pump.

There’s a good video on how to build an aeroponic tote. My questions is what timer will turn my pump on for 5 seconds and off for 5 mins.

I was thinking that I was a bit of a mad scientist until I came across your videos I want to thank you for this information 😊. You have learned why my DIY project. I wish I had the formulas for the way I can get my system can be setup for the amount of nozzles to tube to the purge of the water in cycle and I would be interested to buy the first one.

hello, once i stop my pump, my noozles keep misting during some time, is there any way to stop the misting just after the pump stops? I am not using the solenoid valve right now. thanx! great videos btw!

Joshua the answer is YES!. Redundancy is critical when your crop is expensive. This will be covered in a future video.

I would like this calculator. I have a question on nutrients. Not all plants take up the same amount so to avoid supersaturating our reservoir how do we measure the amount in it?

Pressure tank worries me and only mentioned briefly. Would like an introduction/explaination of how this system works. Pressureswitch? Gauge? One way valves? First time i have heard about it. Otherwise how do you control the run cycles on the pump? You need some special equipment or pump with built in controls. Trying to be a bit economical. Very infomative video. Thanks brother. I enjoy your work.

Could I use a Hidroneumatic tank?
What would you suggest for back up power where I live electricity is fairly good might go out once or twice a yr
You'll need two UPSs. One for the pump and one for your solenoid controller. With the right programming, your system can endure a 24 hour power loss.
I use a 12V pump, 12V timer and 12V solenoid powered by a 110Ah leisure battery. The battery charger runs on a timer. Gives me piece of mind

Hi i am thinking of setting up aeroponics commercial system. let say i wanted to grow 1000 lettuce can i grow these as one unit of 1000 or is better to split this up? what is practical or not is this idea?
also what about the pressure pump one big pump or smaller pumps. how can i work out what size pressure pumps i will need for different sizes systems where can i find this info.

What a loaded question. For now you want smaller pumps for redundancy. HPA can grow lettuce very well. I do it all the time.

what pressure tank ? if it's rated for maximum 100 psi. the pump doesnt turn off?
If you're using pvc tubing, it will blow before your tank blows at 200psi.
Is it really necessary to not recycle the nutrient waste? If I put the nutrient waste back to the reservoir, would it really cause problems?
There's no right answer. Too many factors to discuss here. However, more sensitive plants find it a challenge to do well when recirculating the nutrient. Thanks for asking.

Please watch all of the nozzle videos. There isn't a straight answer. Some say 12 thousandths of an inch, a little more or less.
