you should be using a two bucket method. for the lower and upper. . clean water. .. bikes are made to get wet. don't be a Sally. . I've worked on bikes for 10 years . we live in Washington. rain rain.
Tip. If you had a Hozelock nozzle on the end of the hosepipe you could rinse the bike off with a drizzle rather than fast flowing water? I must admit that i prefer to remove the panniers (cases) to clean the insides and makes cleaning the shaft area and mudguard easier. Nice to see someone clean their bike to the same extent as me.
I agree with most of what u say but honestly bikes are okay to get water all over( other than in the exhaust). I ride my bike (2014 CBR 500ra )year round in the lower mainland of B.C. (Canada ) and have ridden through absolute down pours; I basically live in rain belt. That is what those rubber covers are for , the electronics are meant to hold up to hard rain.
+Stephanie Day ... My mom lives there.. If you ever want to hook up for a ride, meet friends ( I have good riding friends as you probably as well) .. FaceBook is a good way to contact me.. anyway Cheer'z girl.. have a great day.. Froggy
Very good information, but how about the radiator. Mine gets a lot of bugs in the holes. I usually hit it with a little bit of pressure to get rid of the bugs.
Thanks for this videos.. I have the 2013 FJR and need that seat..... 👍. Just want it flat near the tank.. How to? And where can I get one. Might have missed it on one of your videos. Thanks... And I need in your opinion. I want a portable satellite radio on the bike. Bluetooth capable .... Any ideas
You should wash your bike. Find a cool spot anywhere you can, and as long as it's not directly in the sun it'll be okay. Make sure you rinse very well especially after you soap to remove chemicals.
Nice. I like to tape up (using masking tape) the key holes to avoid water getting in them. I take the bags and topcase (as you did) off and wash them separately. I also remove the seats and get any sand out from under them. I also wipe down the tool case that sits under the seat. I then use a leaf blower to get most of the water off and then use a towel or synthetic shammy like you did. After I'm done, I take the bike for a short ride and honk the horn (to ensure it still works); also riding gets the water off of the rotors. Maybe an hour later, I will move the bike forward a few inches just to ensure the brakes aren't locked to the rotors from being wet. Nice bike and nice video. Thanks!
Hi Bryan..is it safe to re-wax or re-polish your bike after every wash?....i use MUC-OFF products (miracle shine polish & uber wax) and it says on the can that every successive application adds a layer of protection. After watching your detailing video a few months ago i followed all the steps you mentioned and finished off with wax. Im extremely happy with the results on my 2014 kawasaki z1000. can you recommend any product for the black plastic bits which tend to fade? thanks.
siddharth bangera Back To Black would work great for any faded black plastic, that's exactly what it's for. Sure adding more polish/wax will keep it going longer, but doing a proper polish/wax does it better. Those all in one bottles are not as good and don't last as long IMO.
Looking good Bryan ! I wash about like you do, but use an electric leaf blower before toweling to minimize dripping from nooks and crannies later. Probably not recommended for use bare footed in a wet garage though ; )
I use a leaf blower too. It works much faster and better than a towel. Whatever is left after blow drying is easily taken care of with a microfiber cloth. Lastly, I start the bike up and take it for a quick mile ride which dries the wheels and any leftover water under the fairings. Plus, the heat of the engine dries the rest. PS> I ride a 2013 FJR. Love it!
You may want to consider putting on a ceramic coating. Dirt, bugs, grime will NOT stick to your paint. Wipe rite off. Plus will protect your paint. but make sure your paint and bike are as flawless as possible before you put it on because it is permanent.
sir, i think you forgot to wash the wheels, brake calipers, fork legs & swing arm . main areas where brake dust and road grime collect.

Same with the levers for clutch, break, etc... Getting them wet won't hurt them or the grease they need
+Stephanie Day ... I am from the same area .. Maple Ridge to be exact. I totally agree with your comments, but there's a But..
+FrogDog Ridez lol im not too far, chilliwack :)

3:40, So I live in Thailand and it is hot 24hrs a day, so i shouldn't wash my bike ???

Freddie Clark first lay your bike on the side of the road and buy a plane ticket and get the fuck out of thailand! USA USA

Any reason not using your shop vac to blow dry first then dry off the rest of the bike with towel ?
Just wondering if you would recommend the use of ArmorAll for your seats after you dry them off to further protect them...
the only issue would be them getting slippery. I don't keep my bike outside so I have never had any sun damage to need anything like that.
Great point, be careful if you have a chain drive, if you get water all over it, better lube it up again
How do you normally wash your rims and tyres?
Good information, it's great seeing how much you care about the process!
how do you clean a radiator thats clogged with bugs and mud from tire spray?
A stiff nylon brush or hose it from the other side under pressure
awsome vid! keep on the good work!

I did. You are commenting on a very old video.

To dry my bike I use a blower. Gets all the water out of the crevices
"Man Grunt" More Tools!

Don't forget to check your tire pressure.
That garage sure looks like your better half helped you clean it. LOL
dude...what about the rims? show them some love
myrwon Yep I forgot them, that's what I get for talking lol They go right before the ends of the pipes.
wash a bike and a garage all at the same time - nice.
I hate bugs. Got to get them off ASAP.
First mistake is washing your bike with normal water it has too much salt on it back home we use sweet water
are you serious?
