I agree it has been a long and cold winter here in the high desert. We have just had two 70 degree days in the last 5 months. With another two weeks of 50's to 60's for highs in the forecast. I hope we don't go from the 50's to the 100's for highs. That we will still get a couple months in the 80's-90's. Growing up in Wisconsin 60 degrees was warm now living in Arizona for ten years anything below 80 is cold. Albeit 70 degrees in the sun with no breeze is warm still. Good to hear from you. I also have an update on your 40 flathead. I thought you could run the '54 Panhead bearing set-up on the pinion, you can't the pinion race or bearing surface on the pinion shaft isn't long enough. The Panhead pinion has a longer bearing surface. Hope I splained that well enuf. Later bro'.

It seems this ironhead has a aftermarket CV 'style' carb. Maybe also check the accelerator pump/amount of fuel to the venturi when giving throttle They(aftermarket version) often perform bad.

Not sure if they're available anymore. I'm also running a CV carburetor as on your example. Makes an IH a smoother runner in my opinion. Thanks for the video.

On the ironhead valve adjustment your last move should be just barely turning the adjustment nut into the lock nut to seize the lock nut. Just tightening the split lockout it may come loose. Your " just free" adjustment was correct but simpler way is if you can lay a clean finger against the pushrod and turn it with one finger. Then tighten lock nut then hold lock nut with wrench and take second wrench and barely turn adjuster into locknut. All set.....as long as your on the base circle.
when everything heats up you will have less valve clearance as the metal will expand, a good clearance would be about 1 and a half thousanths .0015 in the oil will muffle the tick with a perfect adjustment on solids you get just a hint of a tick on intakes the exhaust i go a little more usually around .003in go too tight you risk burning valves
Mike I know you know so much more than me but sitting here watching you adjust those valves is killing me The bottom nut is the adjuster the top nut is the lock nut You're probably confusing because you do all the other ones but I'm a Sportster freak You're doing it backwards my god it pains me to say this

When you turn the engine over (starting at 8:52) something is rotating where the generator should be.
What's going on there?
It is an aftermarket alternator, added by someone.

Anything in the 40's and lower is a shock to our systems here.
When I got my evo1340the head studs pulled lose in the block is it ok to use longer studshas this ever happened to you
That's a tough one. Should have bare cases to repair them. Longer studs are not the answer. Not enough depth in the case.
I put new a clutch in a 1974 Sportster I had and couldn’t get it adjusted right until I rode it and soaked the new clutch in oil.
As per the factory.
I use a porch propane heater and stand it over the bike. I can get my garage up to 72° on a 35° day

I cut and welded 2 wrenches to extend the reach for the adjustment i needed...Peace
