Thank you SO much for this video 🙌🏾 I love expressos but I had no idea what was involved in making it. I won this machine at my job. I felt overwhelmed until I found your tutorial 🥰
Got a Gaggia Classic Pro for Christmas. Used your videos to set it up. Thank you for the clear explanations and step-by-step instructions-better than the manual by far. Went well-aside from steam jetting out the bottom of the portafilter (the factory had inserted the 2 shot basket instead of non-pressurized one with the jet frother by default, so when we swapped them out thinking it was non-pressurized setup, hilarity ensued). Easy fix once we realized it. Pulled first shot with beans from local coffee shop, and it was great. Thanks again.
@@tmb-themajesticbeanchannel1746 We're in the market for a new one after ours broke. Maybe the Baratza Vario? I've heard good things about the one you used in the video, too. Trying to keep it under $500 USD. Any recommendations would be appreciated!

Thanks for sharing - I am going to buy this little beauty after my Breville Bambino Died - Lasted only 2 years - They say these machines if looked after last up to 10 years - so thanks for the initial video set up!
Great video, but I'm adding this because I faced it and don't know whether this is common experience, I had to flush the group head nearly 6 times because I saw a lot of residual micro particles and so on. The manual says to do it once and it wasn't nearly enough. :)) Edit - I'm talking purely about first use for a new unit.
Thank you Ken☺️ Congratulations on your new machine, hope you enjoy it as much as we do. Let us know if you need any help with it - we'd be more than happy to assist ✌️
Yo, thanks for making this video! Just subscribed and very excited about this channel. I should have my GCP by the end of this week. Ill be watching this again and performing all these steps. Gracias!
Great video, but you should retitle it to something like setting up your Gaggia classic pro. You didn’t brew your first coffee in this video (which is what I was looking for).
Hey TMB, great info and advice! 2 questions, is it safe to keep the Gaggia Classic Pro powered on idle for most of the day? Generally will be making minimal amounts of espressos (up to 3) though will temps stay optimal? Secondly; if my grinder hopper has finished the beans and I can see oil residue should I clean the plastic hopper or safe to refill with new beans? Thanks
I'm not sure if it's a good idea to have it on all day, I usually turn it off when I'm done & turn it back on when I want to use it again. I clean my grinders once a month, but if the beans are oily I'd recommend doing it more often.
Where I used to work, people would leave the machine on for hours at a time without issue, but... it heats up very quickly and electricity is expensive, so... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Hey Mate. So glad I found you channel the other day. Very very informative and simple, as you wanted :) I took delivery yesterday of my new machines, which turned out to be the exact same set-up as you. I followed your steps exactly, and my first coffee was actually ok. I was expecting it to be terrible :P After following your settings, though, my puck had an over-dose and came out way too quick. Is this because I am not tamping hard enough or do I need to reduce the stock by a gram or too? Cheers
Hey Marty, thank you for the kind words and congrats on your new coffee setup 😁 Have a look at our Espresso 101 video, it might help you out. It might be that your grind is too coarse, or your dose is too small. It's also possible that there was some channelling going on. It's very difficult to diagnose something without seeing it, but hopefully this comment and our other video will help you 😊
Great video! Just got my Gaggia Classic. I’ve noticed how easily you turn the portafilter in, mine is very difficult to turn. Is this normal at first? Will it loosen up?
That little black pin is only for the pressurized basket (e.g. for pre-ground coffee). If your coffee is ground to espresso fineness, you should not use the pin or the basket with the small hole area. They install the pressurized basket in the portafilter from the factory, probably so the pin doesn't get lost.
Your videos are great!! can you help me with my gaggia please??? have it for 7 days and some weird noises started. Thank you!! @ That is the link where i recorded the problem

I followed the instructions, but noticed there is a white cloudy substance in the water. Even though I ran the entire tank through more than 3 times. Do you know what's causing this? It is a brand new machine, so I wonder how there could be any mineral deposits?
All of the parts are clean from the factory, but haven't been exposed to hot water. This procedure flushes everything in the water path with hot water, getting rid of any small bits of schmutz that may have lingered (e.g. some bits of styrofoam from the packaging, etc), or that require temperature to remove (e.g. residue from anything involved in the machining or manufacturing process). And this purges any air from the lines, especially the lines connected to the steam wand, which has a tricky valve in the way that expects to be fully wet to work properly.

Overview of Gaggia Classic Pro espresso machine
Hi which coffee basket you recommended for dellonghi?
Is it a 58mm portafilter?
Would be great if it showed how to make your first coffee
Great video! Just got my Gaggia Classic. I’ve noticed how easily you turn the portafilter in, mine is very difficult to turn. Is this normal at first? Will it loosen up?
Might need some time to loosen up, although I didn't have those issues on my Classic
For first time use, do you wait for the machine to heat up or you can just plug it in an start thist procces?
Definitely wait for it to heat up
Did you remove the black little filter in the porta filter
Sorry Mike, I'm not quite sure what you're referring to

I wouldn't know, but you might have put more chemical than needed. Try running more water through until it clears out
did I miss something or why this procedure is needed?

Flushing the coffee maker, it's a Good idea but uses too much water, in Australia, nobody is mindful about using water maybe except the farmers.
