Phenomenal work gents!!! thanks for the vid. The voice over is wonderful and the sound if perfect. Bravo
Love the Posi-Joist Saw bench
Nice looking ceiling in the pool room!
Nice old school benches !
Thanks Very Much! Great vid Robin, really informative and confidence-inspiring for a DIYer who wants to build a roof lantern on a kitchen extension. 👍
Shout out to Sonic Youth! well done job!!
smart job. well done guys
Great video Robin ,a sky light without a upstand is just asking for trouble , great glazing system you'll have to visit where their made 👍👏🇮🇪☘️🤓
That is a brilliant solution Robin, Ed and the whole team, both prep and install.
Ed's got good taste in music.
Lovely work
Great job!! So much better than what your client had before. This one won't leak!!
I’ve not fitted a korniche lantern only other brands and yours looks a lot better made. I love how the glass fits in normally it’s a horrible little plastic thing that screws in and it hardly meets the glass I will be looking into these korniche lanterns great job robin as always
One of your best video's!!!! many thanks !
My company (MPS) have Fitted five of them now on our different projects and like you say “there are a dream to fit” nice job Robin
Nice product and nice job on the instalation. It's a good feeling when all of the prep work fits together the way you planned.
If you find yourself in need of any extra plastic pins / clips visit your local auto body shop supplies company, those lines you were using look identical to the firtree pins used to hold a lot of automotive panels in place.
Great roof system fitted lots of them ,they are so nice to fit .
Been watching you guys for ever.. but jesus christ how tool is Ed?
Great videos guys
Top job lads
Fine work mate. Really smart and now fit for purpose 👍🏻
Thats just class work all round 👌
great work and video
Stunning job ...I`d be a month doing that lol
Was that all in one day? That’s good going! Top quality job again.
Big up the crown guard massive and the rod crew.
Way better design in every way! Easy to maintain. Interesting and satisfying to watch. Nice job as always Robin!
Funny Lord of the Rings monent there with Ed being Gandalf and you Bilbo.... those wide angle shots turn Ed into even more of a giant. But yes those saw horses are way too low, even for you
You ended up with pretty much exactly what I described in my last comment and it is so much better for it. However well that window thing is designed I guarantee if I was fitting it there would be several broken parts. I am useless with anything that supposedly clips in place. Somehow as soon as I look at or touch any push fit parts they break. OK with glue, nails or screws. Clip on over to someone else not so heavy handed and way more patience than me. Now the only potential leak is from capillary action up under the tiles from melting snow and ice if the membrane doesn't go up high enough under tiles. Seen that numerous times.
Robin enjoying Product Porn , fine installation and good clients ,lucky Robin .
well done!
Spot on Robin and Ed, very well explained and executed, please keep up the videos, I do so enjoy watching.
Quality job as usual, well done Robin👍
Great job Rob. Really interesting to watch.
Spot on 👏
Excellent work
Great work speeding the on site time, check out the Sheerline lantern roofs I used to install the Korniche but it’s hands down better and much quicker to install might be worth a look
excellent job Robin, made it look easy, very good system 😀
Brilliant work as always and thanks for sharing! 🙏
I have a 3x1.5 Korniche lantern to build a stand for. According to their surveyor guide, their eaves beam width is 70mm and stand needs to be 6mm less. What kind of timber to use to get the 62mm wide stand frame? Should I just get a 3x2 cut to 62mm? Which type of timber to use? CLS or treated or sawn? I haven’t got a table saw so not easy to get to that size…
Top class work
NICE, as allway's.
Top job Robin
Very insightful video robin 👍🏽
Brilliant job Robin.
Never cross your arms when cutting on those saws.
Unless you have been doing it your whole life and are a master carpenter
@@onefortheroad1 always that one time...
Started using korniche thanks to you and skill builder, fitted well over double figures and not had one single issue. One of the bes engineered products I've ever used. Who's your go to supplier to get them from?
Hi Ross I go to the link in the description, so direct to Made for Trade, super service and good delivery times
Hi Robin, seeing the mitre saw pack up, I remember seeing a Metabo plunge saw in older videos. Do you not have that anymore, if so was that because it wasn’t up to scratch or something else? My reason for asking is I was considering getting the Metabo Plunge saw due to it’s deper cut of 66mm compared to most of the others at 55mm. Thanks for the great videos !
Cracking work sir! Just one question. Is insulation on the inside of the upstand ok there.? Looks like that bit could act like a cold roof style construction. If so would it not need an air gap to the cold ply/osb?. I am no expert but if assuming a warm style roof will a vcl be ok before drywalling and plaster. Difficult to find a definitive answer for upstand insulation best practice. What say you?
In my limited knowledge Looks like a sorta warm/hybrid roof with insulation pushed up tight to deck. Steveroofer on youtube is pretty informative. I guess vcl behind plaster board would be fine . As there doesn't seem to be any down lighters that would compromise this. I know Liam from oak wood garden rooms does similar. My 2p
6.00... It's ALIVE !!!!!! ( from Frankenstein film..lol))
The roof can breathe now and shed water properly, absolutely missed out today by designers.
What happened to the Roof Square and that adhesive tape you used when you fitted the garage doors, will either be available anytime soon?
👌
The upstand insulation should be same depth as the roof insulation. That looks too thin ?
Robin I’ve been a joiner 10 years I’m 27, but more than happy to work for 50 a day if I can work with you🤣 let me know where to send my CV👍🏼
I’ll do it for 45 and I’ll make the teas Rob.
@@gdfggggg 40, teas every hour and a back massage at 5pm everyday. That’s my final offer
It looks like the roof man needs to re-point the ridge tiles. Did your saw pack up before you changed the brushes or after?
It didn’t take long for the apprentice Al to get onto the in situ phase 😅
What is the size of the wood structure vs the size of the lantern?
Hi Jesper from Denmark, it looks good.
Do you know if you can buy them in Europe
Oh to be as tall as Ed 😂
Have you ever built with a steel frame, timber frame and brick skin
Quite a few times
Any video on the subject?
Super 😂👏
What happened to Ed did you send him home early surely it would have been good experience for him to see the job through till the end. If you said it's a really good product once you must have said it ten times and you only get what you pay for.
Hey guys.
I’ve been considering carpentry/joinery as a potential career path, but with the seemingly impending recession it has my slightly concerned & considering other ‘financially safer’ trades (so more in the direction of Plumbing/Electrician).
For those in the comments with ample experience, how safe of a job is this during recessions? & how is the pay in general in comparison to say Electrician?
Really struggling with this choice, so any input from those of you in the industry will be greatly appreciated!
Cheers in advance
If i order a 3m x 2m Lantern - does the upstand have to have an exact 3x2m opening?
This will depend on the lantern manufacturer, Korniche lanterns ask that you allow for the final roof finishes and in our case its about 15mm less for the timberwork
Straight forward.
Is it fairly straight forward?
It's really straight forward
Straight forward
One minute eleven, cross arm cut 😳
7:36 add the what? Whitra?
Alwitra, it is the name of the single ply roofing membrane that we use
@@ukconstruction Thanks
Do like these windows?
They are well made, simple to install, I have 3 on my roof and they have never had any problems what so ever
Unfortunately i searched the lantern on a few websites.
Just to check if there's a shipping option to Belgium because its a great product and i wan't to buy it for a project next year. But i diden't found any seller online that ships to belgium.. Does somebody know a website that ships to the main land ? or another option..
Did you try the link I'm this video description?? I'm sure that Made for Trade could help...
I contacted them, now waiting for a respond, thanks Robin ! Love this type of videos 👌
I got a response from them :
Unfortunately we do not offer lanterns for export.
Nobody has an alternative for shipping to belgium ? 😊
Thanks
@@jonathanbrems1376 how about picking it up from the UK??
Can I have a few extra inches of height, please?
that looks pukka
Roof glazing is in principle all wrong .
