Black Crown Heron catches gopher and uses rib bone for bait

The title pretty much tells it all.

Was kind of cute watching the bird almost skipping along so proud of himself carrying that rib bone in his beak, almost as if to say, "Oh boy... I can't wait to see what I'm going to catch with this!" 😉

Birds have been known to use bait to catch prey so it's very possible that is what the heron was doing with the rib.

I have seen videos of Green Herons using bait so it seems reasonable to me too.
