MUSICAL ARTIST: NOKTURNAL (Canada) Zenon & Techgnosis Records
A very significant portion of Nokturnal's early vinyl collection from back in the day has the Flying Rhino label logo on it. The sound crafted by James Monro and his fellow label producers blew Nokturnal away and had a permanent impact on his idea of what truly stunning psychedelic electronica should sound like. And he owes a huge thank-you to Shane Tropism for sharing his passion for the label all those years ago.
Label artist for Zenon Records and Techgnosis Records, Nokturnal has been a pillar of the psytrance community in Western Canada of over 20 years and has been a regular of the Shambhala, Motion Notion and Burning Man festivals. It’s been a wild ride, rocking peak-time sets alongside international headliners from all over the world at festivals as far away as Boom in Portugal and closer to home at Symbiosis in California and Eclipse Festival in Quebec.
His hit V/A compilation Sea of Vapours on Zenon Records was voted the #2 progressive psytrance compilation release of the year on Isratrance, and his DJ mix Zenonesque charted at #3 on Beatport.com out of over 3500 mixes. He is also the driving force behind the following projects:

Nokturnal’s sound covers a wide range of psychedelica however his true skills are shown during the night-time hours when he can take a trancefloor from deeper hypnotic soundscapes all the way to the in-your-face bliss of sonic enlightenment.
