      I second that, but he will gain for sure, cant thank him enough, discovered his channel week back and learned a lot, first time in my life i took long exposure after watching his other video, I was blown away with the result, i was always afraid and had this thing in mind that my Nikon D5100 is not capable of much, he opened new horizon for me, thanks man, keep it up with the good work.

      Thanks for the post/feedback Zayan!:) Not a problem ... I leverage back button focus and lock focus on the eye of any given portrait ( here is a video on back button focus which might be of help - ruclips.net/video/6qUebpQeclY/видео.html ). You can achieve ISO between stops by using the auto ISO mode:). I created a video in which I discuss this process a bit more - ruclips.net/video/XWBO0DgHtU8/видео.html

      Me too! I did the trial version but have not did the full version yet. I guess I need to. Right now I am trying to set up the spare bedroom as a photo studio kind of so my wife and I have a place to process photos. I have a laptop but it is getting a little bit older so probably going to invest in a nice one next year. I have Adobe CS3 and Bridge with camera raw on it and it works OK but after using the trial lightroom I see why everyone says you need it.

    Yes thank you. Just took to the Austin zoo today and got some really good shots. Much clearer than my d3200 but also have been applying my new knowledge about f stops and iso. I usually just kept on shutter mode cause I was scared to mess with f stop and iso. I’ve finally am understanding how to use more, and thanks to your videos also. Keep creating!. The world of photography is infinite. I do mostly long exposure stuff, but love animal photography also and street photography.

      @RealWorld  6 лет назад

      I believe 50k rupees is around 725 dollars ... hmmm - this will depend on your needs. If you plan to shoot video in addition to photos, I might lean towards the Canon T6i ( ruclips.net/video/sTi9aUTITlo/видео.html ) or T7i. If you plan to mainly focus on photos, I might lean towards the Nikon D5600 ( ruclips.net/video/qDeW1PYCnmA/видео.html ) with the 18-55 lens or the Nikon D3400 with the 18-55 and 70-300 (or you can save by just going with the 18-55 and consider the fixed 50mm f/1.8 lens ( ruclips.net/video/e2TZVu7yZig/видео.html )).

    I like this chanel because you seem happy and enjoying doing what you do. On the street I use mostly shutter priority 1/320s if possible if not than I go down to 1/125s or 1/60 for motion efects. Auto ISO, serial shutter and continous autofocus are important(depending on situation but for most for me). Turning D-lighting and other post processing features to achive better framerate. I also shoot only JPEG for the same reason. Entry level DSLR are so powerfull now. Way more powerfull than best apsc cameras ten years ago.

    • @RealWorld
      @RealWorld  5 лет назад

      Thanks for the post/feedback!:) I started this channel to simply help my brother and a few friends simply understand their cameras better. I soon realized many others were in the same boat:). While other channels cover the latest and greatest from various manufacturers, I wanted to keep everything simple and let people know they do not need the latest gear to capture awesome photos. I like shutter priority as well depending on the subject and desired results:).

    • @RealWorld

    "…it’s going to be fun, and that’s what photography is really all about…", now that's a philosophy I can easily live with. I also agree with you about street photography, to me it’s the story of the street at that time and it isn’t about shooting all the down and outs you can find. I use a disability scooter and I don’t want to draw more attention to myself than necessary, so I do more "urban" than "street" and I tend to favour film photography which I’m not sure if it’s still ‘entry level'. Great images, very nice indeed and another brilliant video.

    • @RealWorld
      @RealWorld  6 лет назад

      Thanks for the post/feedback Mark and good to see you on the comments!:) I like street photography because they bring about candid shots which are great in my opinion. Having people pose is more common/standard, but capturing people in their natural element is always interesting.

    I had been doing some research on the d3400 and came across your videos and have watched several of your videos over the last month. I finally gave in and ordered the Nikon d3400 with the standard and 70-300mm lenses. I just got it in the mail yesterday, and I am ready to dive in and start learning the camera. Thank you so much for your videos. I'll be rewatching them as I try different styles of photography. I am wanting to get into street photography, try out light trails, do some sport and concert photography, and since I moved to Orlando, FL, a month ago to work at Disney World, I will be taking photos around the park and try and get some great nighttime fireworks shots. Would you also recommend the Nikon d3400 For Dummies book as a reference? I'll definitely be using your tips for the different styles of photography for different camera settings since I am brand new to digital photography and have no grasp on all the different settings. I'll definitely be schooling myself as I go and using your videos. Thanks for everything!

    • @RealWorld
      @RealWorld  6 лет назад

      Thanks for the post/feedback Brad and glad to be of help/inspiration!:) You are in a great location for some awesome photos (Orlando/Disney):). I was a technical editor for one of the Dummies books (unrelated to photography). The editor would send chapters over for review, etc. Nonetheless, would I recommend the book? Stick with my videos and you will be fine:). The book would not hurt, but I am not certain how much it will help:). Congrats on the camera and welcome to the channel!:) If I can do, so can you. The key is to take your time (be patient), understand the settings, practice-practice-practice, experiment-experiment-experiment, and above all - have fun!:) You will soon get the hang of it and your creativity will soar. The first step in my opinion is to fully understand the relationship between ISO, shutter speed, and aperture ... this is the pyramid of importance - the foundation to photography:). ruclips.net/video/6I3jtQfd-sU/видео.html

      Excellent! I will definitely be getting good use of your videos. I've got a quick question for you. Do you take the battery out when you are done each time? The handbook says to take it out. I just want to make sure this is needed. With the 38-55mm lens, I am also having difficulty closing the lens all the way when I take it off. Is this normal, or should I be able to get the lens all the way compacted back in? Thanks for everything! I've been trying to search for RUclips videos and content online that addressed these issues, but I haven't been successful locating them.

    • @RealWorld
      @RealWorld  6 лет назад

      Glad to be of help!:) I do not remove the battery and do not feel it is necessary unless you plan to camera unused for a long time (i.e. 2-3 months). Interesting to hear regarding the lens. To ensure we are on the same page - are you referring to when you rotate the lens counter-clockwise (zooming all the way out)? Rotating all the way counter-clockwise should lock the lens back on the 18-55. If the lens moves relatively smooth throughout the zoom range, you should be fine. If you feel any grinding, etc., that might be a problem.

    • @RealWorld

      Thanks for the post/feedback and glad to be of help!:) Great analogy!:) I have always been intrigue by the extreme zooms. The decision to purchase should not be based on the body but the need for the lens and budget:). Fast zoom lenses can cost a BUNCH (think of the photographer on the sideline of any professional football game for example - huge heavy lens with lots of glass). Slow zoom lenses are much more affordable/reasonable for a slower (for clarification - fast means wide open aperture (f/1.8 for example) and slow would be something much higher (f/7+, etc.)). Fast zooms make sense - sport photographer's are shooting action from the sidelines and perhaps not is the best light, etc. When would you use a slow extreme zoom lens? Perhaps if you are shooting the moon (great for moon shots), or wildlife of a bright day with the subject relatively still (think of a bird sitting on a branch, etc.). It is doable to put an extreme zoom on the D3400 without question but consider when/how you will use it. If I stumbled across a great deal, I might consider it but it would have to be GREAT!:)

    Great video again! and great images. I have the same camera. These might be silly questions, I am new with using DSLRs. Could you please explain what zoom level you shoot at ? Do you Frame the pictures you capture by zooming in at the time of your shot ? Or do you capture it all then crop later ? Does zoom level have any major effect on the picture being taken ?.
    Thanks again for your videos. I learn a lot and trying to experiment while shooting after watching your videos.

    Hi Mark. I've been following your channel for quite sometime and I was wondering if you usually set the maximum ISO and minimum shutter speed while shooting on Aperture priority mode..

    • @RealWorld
      @RealWorld  5 лет назад +1

      Thanks for the post/question and welcome to the channel!:) I typically stay in aperture priority and control the ISO letting the camera manage the shutter speed. I set the aperture and take a look at the shutter speed. If the shutter is too slow, I will then adjust the ISO as needed.

    Great video!!! I am having a problem with the candid shot. It seams that nothing captures the attention of candid subject more then a camera pointed at them in there peripheral vision. Any tips on how to be a little more stealth while taking the shot?

    • @RealWorld
      @RealWorld  7 лет назад

      Thanks for the post/feedback and great question!:) I know it feels odd and may seem like your subject will catch you, but I find most people are oblivious to their surroundings:). The bigger the event, the easier to shoot candid shots (like the bike rally in the video). If there are not many people around, I typically start by shooting a nearby object close to the subject of interest even though I have very little interest in the object (i.e. a flower, street sign, building, etc.). This tends to let the person settle back into whatever they were doing. Once I feel they are good, I point the camera in their direction for a quick shot:). If I feel someone catches me, I may approach them and give a compliment about their look, outfit, etc. letting them know I am working on a creative street photography project/portfolio. If this happens (and it is not often), they are typically flatter by the compliment and all is well. Hope this helps!:)

    • @RealWorld
      @RealWorld  7 лет назад +16

      Thanks for the post/feedback/question!:) Not one person said anything nor did I ask. When taking street photos, you are in a public place which is fair game. If someone approached me and asked not be photographed, I would comply without issue:). Most of the time if someone asks - why are you taking a picture of me? They are typically flattered to some extent by the reply which should be - I am a street photographer and find what you are wearing, doing, etc. fascinating. If you intend to take photos of little ones, always ask the parents:). In addition, I always offer to share my images with the subject if they like. manish if you use the nikon app to directly transfer ur photos, it will transfer a very compressed file. If you want to transfer the full resolution photo, connect both device to a pc and copy it from there.

    • @TSGAdventures
      @TSGAdventures 7 лет назад +1

      With snapbridge you can download Jpeg fine if you unpair the camera>choose Original size in auto download selection>then pair it again. You can also get an OTG adapter(android I know has them not sure about Iphones) then you can transfer what ever files you want but you have to have a program on your phone that will read raw images and have the ability to expand your memory on your phone with an SDHC micro card. I know Pollar/photo editor does raw on a PC but not sure on a phone. You can also download them to a computer then convert them to jpeg, png or tiff and then load them to your phone but if I was going through all that I would probably would just process on the PC and share from there.

    Am I the only one that's blown away with how well your photos turned out using high ISO's?!?! My gosh, some of those had 2500 - 5000 ISO and the photos looked great. I'm usually skeptical going above 800 but I think I need to reconsider that on my D5300. What are your thoughts on ISO and how high one can go and still get great image quality on these 'entry level' crop bodies? FYI - I hate the term 'entry level' because it gives people the wrong impression. These cameras take amazingly good photos and I feel that that term is degrading and takes away from that fact (not ripping on you, moreso the industry that brands them this way - to me it's more about the glass than anything). Thanks for the great vid - if you could let me know on the above question that would be fantastic :D

    • @RealWorld
      @RealWorld  6 лет назад

      Thanks for the post/feedback!:) Fully agree regarding the phrase 'entry level':). I have various thoughts regarding the given phrase and will save that for another day/video perhaps:). Nonetheless, I plan to create a relatively quick video very soon regarding post processing high ISO images (stay tuned:)). I captured some images at 12800 ... you can still see noise but the image is usable to some extent in my opinion:). I would not hesitate to go above 800:).

    • @RealWorld
      @RealWorld  6 лет назад +1

      Thanks for the post/feedback/question!:) The sun was going down when shooting and I used auto ISO (I believe - I like to manually control my ISO but believe I used auto). As I stepped into different scenes (behind buildings, alleys, etc.), the lighting changes which caused the ISO to fluctuate:). The 5400 was attributed to a darker scene - the camera maintained 1/60th of a second at 5400 ISO.

    • @JunaidKureshi

    Another nice video and great pics from the d3400. But street photography is quite risky at times. It all depends on the temperament of those being photographed and how you calm them down. A greatly upset hot tempered individual can create an embarrassing situation.

    • @RealWorld
      @RealWorld  7 лет назад +1

      Thanks for the post/feedback!:) Ahhhhh yes, street photography can be lots of fun and challenging at times:). Most people do not have an issue - especially is a relatively crowded environment. The truth goes a long way when confronted as the photographer found something unique about the scene/look/etc. If this ever happens, I am always prepared to ... 1) delete/wipe the image (even though it was captured in a public space, etc.), 2) offer to share the image(s) with them. Most everyone is flattered to some extent. If not, simply wipe the image and move-on:).

    @hardrock1826 6 лет назад

    I know you were in Aperture Priority, but with ISO ranging from 400 to 1600 your shutter speed was mostly around 1/60 of a sec. I definitely require a faster shutter speed, preferably in excess of 1/125 per sec. Was the day very overcast because I think I would of gone with Shutter Priority even though Aperture Priority is my favorite.

    • @RealWorld
      @RealWorld  6 лет назад

      Thanks for the post:). I was not as concerned with freezing motion as there was not much fast movement. The video was shot at the end of day as the sun was going down, and I was caught in the shadow of downtown buildings:). I decided to set the ISO to auto with a minimum shutter speed of 1/60. This could have been set to 1/125 which would have caused the ISO to jump. I tried to maintain the lowest possible shutter speed to achieve the lowest possible ISO in order to retrieve the best possible quality:).

There did look to be a nice bit of light cast onto the Starbucks Coffee House, but it is difficult to determine how truly bright it is. You got some really good shots of the bikes with great color. I visit classic car shows in the summer months and I always get some nice color shots. I have to use a tripod and a remote method of triggering the shutter in low light now. Too many health challenges that cause me to have limitations, Parkinson's for one. I have had to give up some things but I drew the line at my Photography. I still shoot Monochrome Film and process and print it in my lab. I also shoot Digital, Photo will keep you alive as the fun never ends.

      @@hardrock1826 Agreed:). When I made it to the street, I discovered the impact of tall buildings (heavy shadows). I like car shows as well - lot of colors and classic designs make for good shots:). Hang in there (re Parkinson's; prayers for you) ... you are an inspiration to other photographer's fighting through various challenges. You have the right idea (tripod to steady shots, etc.).
