Very few songs are able to make you relieve a moment in time but you listen to those 2 songs and you will be transported to 2011-2012. They remind you of the vibe, the feeling, the place you were during that time.
Its gotta be said how good that album cover is too though. The car, the colors, the composition of the photo, the typography all just super nice, eye catching and memorable.

A total masterpiece, I love his version of "Strawberry Swing". And he does "Hotel California" better than the Eagles!
I wouldn't say he did it better than the eagles (the lyrcism of the original still holds up as an eerie tale of Ca) and the music, well, he just lifted it from the original, so ofc it would be good. 2 different stories, same backdrop.

this album got me into radiohead and optimistic is still one of my favourite songs from radiohead. songs for women is probably the best song from this project tho

I remember on my 20th birthday a friend of mine anonymously mailed me one of the LE Vinyls for this record. I knew it was her (she was the only person around with the money to gift something like that) but she would never admit it. I've cherished this vinyl every day I've owned it. It's one of my more unique records both in its content and with its presentation being subdued and stripped back. Thanks for the record Ash, I appreciate it ton.

TBH a lot of the tape's(and Frank's) popularity came from non-Odd Future fans. Plenty of people who loved Frank but didn't give a f about Tyler or OF, and some wanted Frank to leave the group entirely lol

Somebody posted this on Twitter in 2011, I thought the cover looked cool. I listened, I was hooked. Love crimes/Eyes Wide Shut monologue, classic.
When I first heard this tape about a year after its release, I was an old head hip hop fan- really only liked stuff like Jay Z, Nas, DOOM, etc. This put me into a whole different zone and opened up a world of rnb and more melodic styles of music for me.
Still my favourite project of Ocean's. For sure Channel Orange and Blonde had some truly amazing tracks, but as far as front-to-back experience goes, Nostalgia, Ultra is still my favourite.
