This might be a dumb question. But is the bryntroll heal/damage necessary for this setup? I run with an hpal and i have shadowmourne. I do still have my bryntroll in the bank so I could swap it.
no, it is not necessary. Bryntroll is a really strong alternative to Shadowmourne and can decide games if lucky with procs at the right timing, but Shadowmourne is the strongest 2H weapon overall, especially vs. lower armor types. Never keep Bryntroll in ur bank, its good to have multiple strong weapons to swap to, with spellshatter enchant and bound on actionbars, vs shadowpriests teams for example which want to silence you alot as a dk. What i said goes for Unholy and 2H Frost but if you want to play Frost dk serious with a hpala, id still advise to go dual wield, even if you have SM, 1H has just too many upsides and consistency for Frost in comparison. If you however want to have fun with Shadowmourne Frost DK and go for high crit montage etc. be aware that you also have to /canceaura the stack buff from sm proc or it will break the CC.

I use it sometimes to burst while spending my runes fast and getting runic power in one global, but not often, cause its dmg is quite bad in PvP. Its not like PvE at all, where it is the biggest dmg source for multiple reasons: Way more armorpen in PvE compared to PvP, need frost runes for slows often in PvP and also to reapply diseases versus alot of comps often. Even Frost PvP spec without the Obliterate Talent and 0 Obliterates can be valid, i just prefer to have it as an extra burst global when i don´t need to use other runes and it is also a bit better versus low armor like cloth/leather or as a use case versus magic immunites when there is nothing else to do. And there is not really space for +25% Obliterate dmg Glyph in PvP either (at least not for serious arena, maybe for fun max dmg build or in BGs etc.), making Obliterates even less effective.
@@Razoonx thanks a lot for your answer. Have you consider playing in Warmane? There is solo que for 3v3 where you can really shine with diffrent builds and specs..
i was playing warmane alrdy a bit before classic, atm also playing whitemane(maelstrom) cataclysm soloq cause blizzard playerbase is so split right now with many different game modes, so there is not much to do... might consider warmane soloq again in case blizzard messes up cata/classic completely and there if there is nothing left that is fun, but i think i would have to be extremely bored to do it haha and np you are welcome!

Why you are not using obliterate?
