This is great! My mom is a huge Stephen King fan, but while I love horror and have liked several King movies, I don't think I've read any of the books as an adult! 😮 Now I know where to start!
@@ARRRGHSchooling the book is better than the movie IMO. And there's one or two particular scenes that are truly scary in that classic Gothic horror way. Highly recommend.
Okay so I've always wanted to read Stephen King because my mom is a huge fan. But I'm intimidated by the lengths of his books which is crazy because if I can read 3-4 300 paged books a month why not one of his 🤷♀️. I did read Bag of Bones last October and it was not bad. So now I'm going to start with your top tier rated ones and go from there!
Yay! I hope you like them. His longer books can definitely be intimidating, but they are worth the effort! Carrie is a great one to start with because it is relatively short.
The tier video was great! I read The Shining way back in High School. I just finished rereading it last night. As a mother now, this book hit me so much differently in the second go-round. Poor Danny. That boy will need serious therapy. 😭 Sorry I ask so many questions (lol) but my 10yro just finished the Maze Runner and Hunger Games series. He is looking for his next series that's similar. Any suggestions?
I love how rereading a book later in life can change the whole tone of the story. There's always a layer I missed. Has he read The Giver? It isn't as intense as Hunger Games and Maze Runner, but it is very thought-provoking. If he wants the intensity, maybe try the Unwind series by Neal Shusterman. The Chaos Walking trilogy by Patrick Ness is also excellent!
I have read The Gunslinger this summer finally wanting to see what this Dark Tower thing was all about after three decades of reading many King’s books. I enjoyed the very first part but I hated the rest. Never liked fantasy much so I will not go any further on the Dark Tower and will concentrate on the novel King wrote outside the genre that I have yet to read. I’m a impressed you gave this book several chances to convinced you. I just can’t imagine doing the same
I'm on the 5th book at the moment and I highly recommend to pick back up the 2nd one and make your decision to keep reading. The first book is nothing like the rest of the series and the 2nd one is way more similar to Stephen King's way of writing. I like the series because of how action packed and funny the story is and also the cast is really amazing as well. It's your choice, but the 2nd book is way more fun in my opinion and it's definitely worth the read.
@ thanks for your feedback. I might give it another try. Everyone says book number two is great. I do have other King priorities though with the Bill Hodges trilogy and finally read It.
@victorpavymusic Have fun reading that trilogy, and the 2nd book of The Dark Tower is definitely very great, in my opinion (it's currently my favorite book I've read so far). Just remember that it's a long journey if you feel like getting back into the series, and I feel like the new characters they introduced in the 2nd book are very lovable and fun. Also, if you haven't known, the series features HUGE references to King's other books. Like I'm talking, characters from different books play a huge role in the Dark Tower series. It makes it an even more special series, and I hope that it gets you even more interested in trying the series again.
I know I am alone on these two. I liked the ending of cell. I did not see that coming. I also liked Elevation as I read it as a political statement on elevating one's soul on acceptance of homosexuality.
FINALLY! Someone else who feels the same as I do about Salem's Lot! Was genuinely started to believe I was the only who who is not a fan!
Considering starting his books next after I finish reading Brett Easton Ellis’ books. Appreciate this ranking so I know where to start

OH MAN Dolores Claiborne is soo good. It's basically one long stream of consciousness which sounds so strange but it is riveting.
That's good to know! I think I saw the movie years ago, but I've just never gotten around to reading the book.

Oooh, I love a good gothic story. You have just pushed it to the top of my tbr!
Night Shift I definitely read as a teen and loved it. We had the copy with the bandaged hand with eyes, which I really liked.

please give Dreamcatcher a second chance. I'm glad I did

I have’t read much Stephen King as I’m not really a horror fan and I found some of his books to be weird 😂. I think my favourite is The Green Mile.
The Green Mile is excellent!
Girl you got a lot of reading to do! You are missing out on so many great books. Mr Mercedes trilogy and Duma key, bag of bones.. oh man!!!
You're not wrong, lol. I hope to get to all of them eventually!
I agree, the dead zone movie is not great but I personally love the book :) strangely political though lol
