It is impossible for me to get a girlfriend. Here's the scenario: I like a girl most probably because she is kind, smart, or beautiful. If she doesn't want to date, she will reject me. If she does want to date she would have found someone already because she is so kind, smart, beautiful, or any combination of the above traits. Both cases have happened multiple times; luckily I haven't confessed to any girl before I found out she has a boyfriend so there's no awkwardness in our friendship. So honestly I think it's better for me to spend my energy on academics, music, and finding a job than trying to date someone because at this point I'll just look desperate if I keep trying.

Unconfident people aren't unconfident because they want to be such, they are unconfident because they just lack experience to build up this confidence. And because of how repugnant shy guys are to girls, they are unable to get this experience, which locks them in a vicious cycle.
Being desperate is not a virtue and it won't lead you to a happy relationship even if you manage to get it, you will ignore every red flag, every problem and keep up with any bullshit just because you are so desperate not to be alone again which will suck and break the relationship eventually anyway. No matter how you want to cut it, if you are desperate that's a problem and you need to find a way to deal with it before you get into any relationship. I think it should be pointed out that if the girl is shy she is not going to give you hints in the form of touching. My first gf and I didn’t hold hands or anything until we decided to be official. Then we both realized touch is our love language. My second gf was _extremely_ touchy by the second date, but I met her online so kind of different context there.
