  • Using old pallets to make something new. This is a fairly simple project and relativity inexpensive, however its takes a while to make it. The backer board is 1/2" OSB and the leg supports are just 2 X 4's. I took approximately 4 pallets to get all the wood for the front of the headboard. I hope you enjoyed the video and thanks for watching.

      I agree with you, I like the natural wood better too. However, the person who I made this for wanted it to be a distressed white. Thanks for watching!

    Seth Vostad Just finished watching the headboard video. Your project looks very good, and your video production is top notch. At the 2:45 mark of this video you are using the chop saw to cut a board. You are holding the material with your left hand and operating the saw with your right hand. This is a very dangerous practice, and can result in the loss of your hand at the wrist. And if you ever try this with a radial arm saw you will most likely cut your arm. Please consider placing your material on the left side of the saw, and if this is not possible, use a clamp to hold the material being cut. Keep up the good work.

      Thanks for your concern! If you take a look at the 2:37 mark on the video you can see me making a similar cut from another angle. It's not ideal but my hands are not too close to the blade, I think it was the angle of the shot at 2:45 that made it look so dangerous. Thanks for watching!!

    I liked the design, but I think if you had milled the boards down and stained them you would have liked the finished product much better.

    Was going to make one for a king bed but realized I’d need a lot more pallets..... lol then I also realized I would need a planer to make all the boards the same thickness, if not all those different heights are going to be a real nightmare to keep dusted. My allergies would kill me! Lol

    Nicely done! It looks great, but I'm kind of wondering what the purpose was for painting the particle board before nailing on all of the other boards over top of it.

    • @hdrjunkie
      @hdrjunkie 4 года назад +3

      I case there are spaces between the boards you won’t see the particle board showing through.... if he wasn’t going to paint the boards then he would have painted the particle board black.

    Good idea, but there's no way those little 18 gauge nails are going to hold up under any pressure. I learned from experience.

    Don't paint it next time... It was perfect in the natural wood color. Or maybe stain it.

    I watch these videos because I don't have any way to buy a fancy new headboard. So, I gather up pallets. Then I watch videos of people with $10,000-$15,000 of tools make a headboard with $25 worth of supplies. I don't get it. I guess they do it for the RUclips money.

      is this head board pretty steady or does it move alot with just the 2x4 for legs

    • @1997michigan1997M
      @1997michigan1997M  8 лет назад

      George Grimes the 2x4 legs were bolted to the bed frame so it's fairly steady

      d675e88 for my case the 2x4's were 55" long but this will depend on how tall your bed is off the ground
