Originally released May 9th, 2017.
ORIGINAL INFO: Worlds lived, worlds died... and then they lived again. And died again. And lived again. We're just kind of used to it by now.
At the time of this viewing , it is with great sadness that George Perez has passed away. RIP George Perez your work with Marvel/DC shall be remembered.
God rest his soul
That man was an artist in the purest sense of the word.
Soo you're telling me that Flash in a vortex warning Batman about future events in BvS was NOT an asspull, but a homage to a way better story?! Unbelievable!
I actually squealed when I saw that in the movie.
I threw up a little in my mouth when Flash came to warn Batman in that dream sequence.
TouhouFather Hey, did you know Wonder Woman was in that movie?
MovieMan22 Wonder Woman: (Waves is hand to us) Hello!!! 😉🙋
After hearing the full story from Snyder, its less weird
Earth-27: a world where Linkara reboots his show once a year to reflect DC.
Earth-89: a world where Linkara's favourite company is Image and he has a burning hatred for everything DC.
Earth-7: a world where Linkara exclusively reviews comic book movies and shows.
Earth-260: a world where Linkara is a badger who reviews late night talk shows.
Earth-666: a world where Linkara is a backwards speaking demon who reviews manga and rarely reviews American comics.
Earth-40: a world where Linkara loves Frank Miller and blindly defends him.
Earth-1000: a desolate planet ravaged by war, disease, and famine in which Linkara reviews rocks that he finds on the ground.
Earth-2: a world where Linkara reviews department store lamps for a living.
Earth-2 is actually exactly the same as Earth-1, just with more lasers.
Linkara-AtopTheFourthWall but are there laser SHARKS on Earth 2?
Earth 8675309, where Linkara in the Shadows reviews 80's music.
Earth-40 is the darkest timeline.
Linkara-AtopTheFourthWall
Earth-50: linkara is an actual magic gun-wielding hero that is the universe’s first champion (there’s 5 other champions in that earth) who was born in what we’d call DC’s Bronze Age.
Earth-51: same thing, but he‘s a justice society hero from the golden age (he then has a son who’s a part of infinity incorporated).
Earth-52: same thing, but he’s a dark age “hero” with a muscle, gun and pouch fetish (AKA: rob liefeld).
-A Dr Manhattan ripoff/pastiche then rebooted earth 52 (which is named Earth-new 52) which has linkara as a dumb Emo teen (like new 52 lobo) with a collar fetish (AKA: Jim lee whenever he makes costumes).
Earth-53: same thing but he’s made as a champion in the silver age with a legitimately Hilarious female harlequin sidekick coloured in rainbows from the 5th dimension that he shoots out of his fingers. (because silver age).
In an infinite number of universes, there is one where Linkara is a fan of Frank Miller. But only because the Frank Miller in that universe is the polar opposite of his mainstream counterpart
John Porteous maaan if only we lived in that universe.
Ebbi the Tigress perhaps but maybe in that universe all that is good here is bad so you might hate your favorite series in that universe.
Does that mean that Frank Miller started crazy and became sane later in life?
More likely because Frank Miller retired right after Batman Year One
wasnt there an episode where there was an anti-linkara or something like that, like Linkrara dressed as a pirate with a goatee?
Maybe that evil Linkara loves our Frank Miller but hates his universe's because, there, Frank is know for his ponderate political opinions, respectful portrail of women and for presenting every super hero equally, never making any of them to be he best, especially Batman. xD
I compared Psycho Pirates dialogue in the comic to the Elseworlds after credits scene and they basically did it word for word. Good Work CW.
Then did nothing with him 🙄
@@calsh14 they originally had planned to do something with him but thanks to the fact that one of the showrunner Andrew kerisburg was accused of (and probably did do) many sexual misdemeanours to both men and women that many stars also complained about , so they decided to scrap his ideas and start fresh with their own. I think Crisis on infinite earths is really good not great like Crisis on earth X , Elseworlds or Invasion but still really good; what I think helps it is the fact that Marv wolfman himself co-wrote the entire story and dialogue with Marc Guggenheim, many writers & directors for the crisis (before you ask he was credited in part 4 as it was the most significant of the parts ). I think crisis would have been even better if Warner movie division just let them use some characters and not threatened them with taking characters away (most notably Superman and Bruce wayne despite Bruce not being able to use the Batsuit thanks to the deal Warner movie agreed to in exchange for him being on television? ), Greg Berlinati and Marc Guggenheim both along with Pete roth went to Warner bros to ask for a raise in budget to include as much actors they could but they were dicks to them.
That joke of the Joker working for ted turner was funny. Now I wonder if the Joker made marville, but his version was *INFINITELY* better than what we got.
Jared Samples Joker would write something weird and nonsensical, but at least it wouldn't be stupid
Jared Samples Yeah, the Joker would make it funny.
That makes a lot of sense.
roganzar I think Funny in Joker Kinda way would be: The Marville Comic as it is, But in the sleve were the comic come in it would include a .38 caliber gun and a single bullet with a Joker Card with "ENJOY Hahaha" Writen in red with all over the back. And when the Reader can't take it anymore and he/she picks the gun and aims it straigth to its temple feeling distresed because of the atrocity he/she had just witnesed. as he/she closes his/her eyes.
Pulls the triguer...
But...
There's no sound...
But there's a BANG!!! Alright.... as a the white flag pops out off the gimmicked .38.
Forcing the poor soul to finish the comic thus enduring the tourture thats Marville.Ending on the reader Bitching about it on the internet.

Linkara: Because I lost control of my life.

Marvel: If at first your event fails, wipe it away by another event.
And keep doing it until SOMETHING sticks.
KidSnivy96 And even if it does stick just do another event anyway!
And it repeats in an endless cycle.
And after all that it still doesn't work, wipe away the event that created everything and bring everything destroyed back. (no seriously go look up what happened after DC's recent event)
Or, conversely, stick with it and call everyone that calls you out for making Captain America a secret Nazi turned supertyrant dictator a stupid poopy head.
I'm a bit disappointed he never mentioned George Pérez, specially considering he DREW the most popular trade cover Alex Ross colored. Still, great review.
10:05 "Ultraman! ULTRAMAN!" It is SO WEIRD seeing that name in a context I'm not used to.

I'm just re-watching this video for the Crisis on Infinite Earths mini series starting this Sunday.
I just found out about that. From what I've seen from clips it looks really great.
To this day, I consider Crisis On Infinite Earths the greatest comic ever.
If this episode had been 2 hours long, covering every single plot point, I would have watched it from beginning to end.
I'm here because of the news of George Perez's eventual demise his work was spectacular and I probably wouldn't be fan of this stuff because of him please take the time to pay respects to one of the greatest artists/writers of all time
Elseworlds is what brings me here again... and I love watching Event Comics Month since they not only are entertaining but hey, I always love it when a guy with glasses reviews these events. I am excited for Fall 2019... Arrowverse: Crisis on Infinite Earths.
Flash vs. Arrow.
Heroes Join Forces
Invasion
Crisis on Earth-X
Elseworlds
Now Crisis on Infinite Earths. I am excited.
Here for the potential traffic upswing stemming from the announcement at the end of the Elseworlds crossover
Okay, good show and all but HOLY DAMN was Sacred Worlds the best possible song for the title card sequence. Blind Guardian+Crisis on Infinite Earths= PRETTY DARN AMAZING.
so on the title card, would the superheroine be called Lin-Kara
Chad Riggs there would also be a Lian-Kara who gets mutilated for no good reason. And then retconned out of existence.
I love the unhinged emotion you put into voicing Psycho Pirate, very fitting.
“So cold and so dark for so long that even the burning light was imperceptible.” Every Zack Snyder movie ever
When I see parents shopping for comics for their kids as gifts, and they ask which ones have all the characters in I often have to say go with the event comics or team books simply because they have such large rosters
Coming back to this after your review of Dark Nights Metal. Having gotten myself familiar with COIE thanks to your very first Event Comics Month video, I had your same reaction upon seeing the return of a specific character from this event.
How many people came to watch this video to research for CW’s Crisis on Infinite Earths event?
I started my little binging of AT4W going after every Batman content, and then went for a bit of DC, …though mostly still just searching up the Batfam related material. I watched the Crisis event review since it was referenced, but now that I have more context via the older videos, it just feels… better. Bigger. More impactful. I love it!
This is just to say that the older videos are just a big "TIME 4 BACKSTORY" segway as long as I use them like one
Just started reading this, having had essentially no prior experience with DC. So far, it's been surprisingly easy to follow for something of this scale and scope.
I know why you're watching this video again :)
mikejaxer well not really because I-
Yeah you do
So it begins... Event Comics Month has begun.
So the multiple Earths were never supposed to exist and as a result the worlds are weaker? As in the multiple Earths were never supposed to exist as it makes continuity and their individual stories weaker? I now see where Geoff Johns learned his unsubtle meta commentary :P
I find it somewhat subtle in that you can really appreciate how much it takes to build up to this kind of a point.
But in order to retain accuracy, overtime as audiences are just more and more clued in, it's only going to stay accurate by losing subtlety and becoming obvious. The cat's out of the bag.
But it's still worth making these obvious points as long as they're strong enough at being actually true and meaningful to resist criticism of the skepticism variety.
I mean: is it still true? Can you still write good dialogue out of it? Of course. As a discovery in story telling, it makes an interesting topic that characters should always bring up in events because authors should never be caught not knowing this.
Much like everyone else, I'm here after watching the first three parts of CWs Crisis.
Ok who want linkara as DCEU version of pyscho pirate
Linkara’s psycho pirate voice is amazing!
Oh god...the Losers. They are fucking awesome! Especially in New Frontier when Johnny Cloud made a last stand against a T-Rex (also recreated in the movie but with King Faraday instead)..hell, that bit with The Losers was so cool that their graves on Dinosaur Island was shown in a Superdad comic.
That whole prologue is One of my favorite parts of New Frontier. Johnny Cloud jumping with Grenades into the mouth of a T-Rex is still a crowning moment of awesome. And it kicked so much ass when the recent Tomasi Superman run homaged it.
I wanna see this story and infinite crisis turned into animated films
The Summon Ing? My god! They're trying to summon the villains from Metroid Prime 2!
...damn, now I want a teamup of Booster Gold and Samus. How awesome would that be?
I came here because Crisis is coming to CW. I must learn again to prepare!
So who's here after Elseworlds? Thumbs up DCW fans!

Pikashades It isn’t ALL bad.
I think the bit about servant-daughter-lady not knowing how to react to Luthor Jr. was not because of his age, but because of the energy coming off of him.
If you look in the shadowed parts of his art, there are white Kirby Dots inter-spaced throughout them.
I love how in hindsight the whole "multiverse" thing was thought to be too confusing to new viewers when it exists today and is geared to appear in both the MCU and DCEU.
Yeah I don't get why DC thought it was complicated did they think People were idiots who don't get the idea of the multiverse?.
IIRC it was only partially for the "benefit" of readers, it was also to simplify the DCU and make it easier for the various writers to maintain internal consistency. (We see how well THAT worked out, but that was the idea)
Rewatching in preparation for the next events comics month, and this comic is even more interesting given recent events in DC. As was mentioned a few times before, DC is still hung up Crisis On Infinite Earths and so many events from DC are meta commentaries on continuity.
I'm of two minds of the initial consequences of this comic. While I can see the need for streamlining, there was lore post crisis I prefer, and the idea of many worlds being merged into one is interesting, I've also never been fond of the literal retconning out of characters and erasing everything that came before as if it didn't matter or happen in some sense. I don't think those last points are true anymore, but again, DC is really weird about their continuity.
This month is going to be AWESOME!
i agree this event comic month is going to be amazing
And next week, we get Secret Wars (1984) AKA the good secret war.
yup indeed
KidSnivy96 and that Spider-Man gets the black suit
7:35 well if Lucifer Morningstar taught us something is that "Big Bang" is an appropiate title
You mentioned in here about how fast the Antimatter wave was traveling and an idea popped into my head.
Since there is no reason to view this wave as a uniform shape, at least on a universal scale it could be expanding based on what it is encountering, empty space with less matter equals less resistance, therefore when hitting earth and the source for the multiverse, more resistance.
I like to imagine based on linkara's jokes, the multiverse only came to be because somebody forgot to plug the universe in and a jolt from a thunder storm briefly turned it on
In the upcoming Crisis mini series, the wall of anti-matter colored red.
Who else came to watch this just because they were hyped for the arrowverse crossover.
doing that now, want to remember what happened :>
23:30 Dogs and cats living together MASS HYSTERIA!!!
How is it DC can write good, sometimes even great, comics for thier giant reboot/retcons but always make a mess of the actual reboot leading to a even more confused continuity where nobody (including the writers) seem sure what exactly what is now the history of they characters, what did and didn't happen. Or worse leaves you with things that still happened so but differently from how the old comics showed it, or happened to some of the characters it used to but not to others. I used to love some of the DC comics but reboot fatigue has just done it in. Even if the current stuff is really good now I don't want to get invested as I expect it to be partially wiped away in a couple of years.
Mark Antill DC's creatives evidently never tell each other anything.
I think the main problem with "Crisis On Infinite Earths," one had led to the problems to this day, is that they didn't go far enough. Many of the problems were caused by trying to keep some parts of the old continuity while wiping out others. This led to conflicts between the titles that had to be worked out, often in ways that created even more problems.
An example is with my favorite title: "Legion Of Super-Heroes." When they rebooted Superman one of the things they established is that he was never a Superboy. The problem with that is: Superboy was the inspiration for The Legion and was also a key active member of the team. He could not just be deleted from The Legion's history.
So the Legion's Creative Team came up with a story where they established that the Superboy in the Legion was not the one who became Superman. The fix wasn't perfect but it allowed them to keep The Legion's history intact. Had it been allowed to stand The Legion could have continued with minimal issues (it was in a story were Superboy dies saving the world he came from [an Earth a Pocket Universe]).
Then they had to completely eliminate Superboy from The Legion's history. This led to a need to do fix after fix after fix. Eventually, The Creative Team ended up wiping out everything and starting over again because the problems simply could not be fixed. If I remember correctly, they wrote that they did it because they were having to spend more time fixing problems than telling stories.
I think that if The Creative Teams had started from scratch after the DCU was wiped out it would have avoided the problems that led to the future big events. They could have done a one or two issue story in each title which lays out the current history of the characters with the rule that "if we didn't write it, it didn't happen." Once completed, they could move on with new stories without the need to fix lingering issues.
"It's like the White Rabbit, but with more clothes."
I have often said that you can improve any character design by adding more clothes to it. My version of Wonder Woman wears 36 overcoats.
I wasn't even close to being born during Crisis, but looking back and reading it decades later, I think it still holds up as the best event ever created.

Pikashades The Arrowverse isn’t ALL bad
4 years of researching the characters you want to use. More events should follow that example.
Umm... "checks clock"... ok.
Ginger Twerk nice name
For a second I thought it was Sunday and this was early.
Ginger Twerk Nice pfp. :3
Who are those characters?
Ginger Twerk nice ass- I MEAN PROFILE PIC!... *cough* lovely weather today.
CROCODILE!
16:41 - And that's why Goku can't use Ultra Instinct anymore once he gets back to Universe 7...
Marv Wolfman is my fucking favorite comics legend. Other people are like Lee, Kirby, Kane, Ennis, Morrison, and Ditko, but for me, Wolfman is the MAN. He did The New Teen Titans and gave them an actual identity beyond "Justice League Junior", wrote the original Spider-Woman comics, created Blade, wrote Crisis, made Dick Grayson the character he is today - not an easy feat. He was way ahead of his time and broke boundaries. I love the shit out of him.
Indeed!
Who's excited about the arrow verse crisis on infinite earths?!
Don't worry Linkara, it's still Monday here in Hawaii.
anyone else excited to see this epic event Crisis on infinite earths adapted in live action late this year
I fell Crisis on Infinite Earths was really one of the few crossovers that really changed things. Most of the others just interrupt the flow of the regular series with little last impact and what impact there is gets undone within a year or two.
I think part of the strength of Crisis is they didn't really know what they had yet with events. Secret Wars was largely self contained with only the heroes' exits and returns covered in the regular books, sometimes the very next issue. It was more of a blip to the regular books.
I think Crisis hit it best with the tie ins mainly being side stories with either only red skies in the background or heroes dealing with side effects of the main story. You didn't have to buy anything unless you were really interested in finding out what happened to Red Tornado after the JLA satellite blew up. The important stuff happend in the Crisis series, itself.
While the initial aftermath may have been dicey (e.g. shipping off the JSA), it ultimately led to a line that embrace history in a way comics hadn't done before, outside of Roy Thomas. The Flash, especially really ran with the idea of their being a legacy between the speedsters and really built a family that loved using their powers to help each other and the public. It's why, I believe, The New 52 couldn't be sustained. It was so different from what people's perception of DC was. It didn't feel like it was really trying to build something new up.
However, it wasn't without problems. I think All Star Squadron and Infinity Inc. were really hurt, and they were great.
Event comic month!
We're getting Crisis and Secret Wars, so what are the other two?
Buffalo Delorean maybe spiderverse?
Infinity Gauntlet, and Flashpoint.

I'm just here because of Elseworlds.
I just noticed the Omegamon figure on your shelve.
Good taste, Linkara. Good taste. I always preferred Magnamon myself, but they're both GOAT.
One thing to say about this story, EPIC! Seriously this story is one of my personal favorites in comics (which admittedly is very few since I'm more of a Video Game/ Manga/ Anime guy.) Though the attitude that DC adapted after this story can just be a spit on Marv Wolfman's face especially regarding what happened with Infinite Crisis and Countdown and the other DC event that Linkara will cover later this month but that's for later.
Funny thing, I recently watched the animated adaptation of this, and Psycho Pirate was the last name he picked and it was Harbinger that coined it
This is why I dislike Infinite Crisis when it comes to this story. The choices they made with Alexander Luthor Jr., Earth-2 Superman and even Superboy Prime really upset me. I love the story-arc of someone trying to bring back the Multiverse just purely because they are homesick, it's a great way to follow up this Crisis event and not repeat the same story.
However, they really screwed things up with the choices they made with certain characters. It pretty much retcons how we are supposed to view Crisis on Infinite Earths now. When I look at Superboy Prime and Alexander Luthor Jr., all I'm reminded of is what they will eventually do. And Earth-2 Superman's 'send-off' was underwhelming.
Overall, this comic is amazing in my opinion. Which is also its biggest problem. How do you follow up to something this big and epic?! Even though I love the idea that Infinite Crisis was going for, even Final Crisis, there was no way those two could have ever topped this. It just goes to show that some stories just aren't meant to have sequels.
I wonder how the Arrowverse is gonna handle Lyla in their version of Crisis.
I mean, it helped that they'd established her (and even her Harbinger codename) several years before the event, so they didn't have to introduce her, just expand her story.
23:53 Pessimistic Placard Guy: "Called it!"

Let's get it on finally took you a while but I'm grateful we got this episode
Just discovered this channel, LOVE IT !!
Easily the *worst* review Linkara ever did. Not a single lamp properly reviewed!
I dunno. I kind of like this experiment. It let's us see a whole new side of Lewis.
that moment when you realise him saying "The Countdown reviews 400 ish episodes ago".. was not a joke
15:12 Well Ted Turner does own DC. So who did you think he would get to color those black and white films.
Lady Quark?! Oh God! It's Profit and Lace again! Run for the hills!
I like you.
that was for having watched DS9. For making me remember that episode, I hate you.
Notable quotes:
"In the Beginning there was only one. A Single Black Infinitude. So Cold and So Dark for So Very Long that even the Burning Light was imperceptible. But the light grew, and the Infinitude Shuddered! And the Darkness finally Screamed, as much in pain as in relief!"
Monitor: "I am...THE MONITOR! And I have Summoned you here because your Universes are about to Die!"
Joker: "Worth, Oh, Roughly Twenty-Six Million once they underwent the new computer coloration process"
Kamandi: "Superman?!"
Superman: "How do you?!...Ah of course, you must have met my Earth-1 Counterpart
Monitor: "Lyla, what is it? Can't you bring the Luthor Baby to me?"
Lyla doesn't quite know how to answer the man who has raised her since childhood. Indeed, how can you explain the sight she now sees?
"For Decades, Pessimistic Placards announced 'The World is Coming to an End'...Today heralded by hail-filled crimson skies and electrical fury, the World is INDEED at it's End!"
Anti-Monitor: "Greetings, Flash! I hope the anticipation has been worth it! Call me... THE (ANTI-)MONITOR! And soon, I shall be ruler over all who live!"
I've always thought that the excuse that the multiple worlds was "confusing" to new readers was a crock. I started reading comics as an elementary school kid in the 70's and I never had a problem with the idea. It was always explained in whatever story where he multiple Earths played a part. One thing it did do for me as a young reader was connect me to the Golden Age and the rich, colorful history of DC Comics. There was something amazing about the idea that these characters and comics had been around for years before I was even born. History is so pliable these days that most comics seem to exist without any sort of past whatsoever. If they really felt like the multiple characters were problematic, they could have simply issued a moratorium on using the Earth-2 versions going forward. It would have been a lot simpler and still left the history intact.
Honestly, it was a good idea to merge everything into one universe. One of the biggest problems with comics is that alternate universes and time travel render everything meaningless. Look at Miles Morales for a good example of that. Great character, but his origin is convoluted beyond belief. It kills my investment in comics.
Linkara: And of course Blue Beetle, Ted Kord... Who of course you should all be familiar with, since I did a freaking huge retrospective on the Blue Beetle last year.
Me: Oh yeah, Blue Beetle. The very first Blue Beetle, yeah I remember him. Good guy, he was a good guy all righty. I remember him using his ship's guns on... someone.
Second Blue Beetle. =)

Sergeant Rock would be wonderful to see a highlight of as a Retrospective.
Funny enough when I was a kid my Grandma had trunks of old comics that, after I discovered Comics and told her about, she took out for me. Stuff my father had. Including Sergeant Rock. I fondly remember them, but in a very dim sort of way. The details have faded, just the sense of adventure and fun remaining.
Anyone else rewatching this right before the CW Crisis to compare the stories of the original vs the adaptation?
For me, not really. I'm rewatching outta hype and memory.
I was watching it to who some of the characters are like Pariah (Did I spell it correctly?) and the Anti-Monitor.
@@michaelrhett4958 You got it right.
20:00 "You want to scream, dont you? Well, fool, you cannot... not without a mouth!!"
I'm shocked Harlan Ellison(the asshat) didn't call up DC to start shit for the sake of starting shit for that obvious reference. Especially with Anti-Monitor having the AM initials.
Maybe he never read it.
Worth the wait!
Now DC is seemingly trying to retcon watchmen's Dr. Manhattan into having something to do with crisis on infinite earths... sigh.
What did you think of the retcon they had with Anti-Monitor? Having him be the Original owner of the Mobius chair, thus being Mobius himself?
Part 2. =)
ARGH! Cannot wait! Thanks for response man! Been a fan of yours for years now ^_^ Glad to know you're still around. PEACE!
Using Blind Guardian for your intro = me subbing.
Well played Linkara.
I was expecting Darkseid at the beginning, not a ginger.
Sitting minding my own business until friggin Blind Guardian slaps me in the face and I stare off into the cosmos for half a second lamenting the war that raged across the infinite expanses of the multiverse and nearly shattered the very nature of reality.
...Nice song choice Link.
just magic, comics are soooo good!
Wait a minute, what about zero hour? well there was technically that. What about Hyper time, pocket universes, secret invasion? That was Marvel. Our worlds at War, millenium, darkness within? OKay, other than several other major crossovers, nothing was ever the same!
I love how heroic Luthor wears a Rams helmet. Just an LA Rams NFL helmet.
My all time favorite event comic. When I read it first I only knew %10 of characters, the more characters I learn it gets better each reread. Last time I reread, I suprised even John Constantine was in the story. I still couldn't make a conclusion whether having multiverse is good thing or bad thing. I always loved different story opportunities with this characters like Elseworld stories, Kingdom Come, Secret Identity on the other hand post crisis contunity used JSA characters so good that created incredible Legacy consept. I'm missing Mark Waid's Flash family. Destroying that is enough reason for hating New 52.
Next DC event will be Flashpoint in Event Month. Compared to Crisis, it's a weak story for a reboot. It attempted to merge another universe with DC universe again but unlike Fawcett and Charlton, Wildstorm not fitted DC universe (Autority not works with Justice League, that's what I get it ). Maybe having multiverse is better like in this case. Even Milestone universe kinda worked in 90's but nowadays not gonna heard anything about them. I reaiiy want a Milestone Universe rebirth book.
I happen to thoroughly enjoy it, but some of these complaints make me very eager to read Linkara's good books list. (I love Linkara, but some of these epics he's discrediting for reasons that feel preferential opposed to critical shortcomings).
I'M SO EXCITED! This is gonna be awesome!
Huh. The trailer for Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite played before this. How appropriate!
