Montgomery, Forest Lawn and Bowness were small villages before 1964. Merged into Calgary in 1964. check these communities now soo close to Downtown. That means the city developed super fast after 1964.
Bowness, Montgomery, & Forest Lawn were traditionally considered slums in the 1970s and 1980s, attracting many drug dealers, biker gang members, and blue collar poor people to live there. Forest Lawn also had many new immigrants and refugees(vietnamese boat people & people escaping Pakistan etc), including poor Indian immigrants in the 1970s and 1980s. In the seventies and eighties most Indians were too scared to live in Bowness or Montgomery. More recently, more educated people are moving in to Bowness and Montgomery, due to their close proximity to the university, and relatively low cost, compared to traditional Northwest communities where educated or intellectual types normally live. Many homes in Bowness & Montgomery are being upgraded, or demolished & replaced. Many parts of Bowness and Montgomery do however regularly flood due to their close proximity to Bow River. Everyone should also note that there is a potential slide mass in Montgomery near the corner of Home Rd and 32nd Av NW, and if that slides into the Bow river, much, if not most a Bowness, will be a lake. In the last 40 years, most Indians have become more fearful of living in Forest Lawn and have migrated North of Marlborough. Forest Lawn is still a haven for the newest and most desperate immigrants/refugees, poorest blue collar people, and high risk criminal types.

This was a really informative video! Being an international student I was looking for something like this!! Do you have any videos on apartment hunting for students near university of Calgary?
SPEAKING OF SAFETY AND SECURITY When you mentioned the crime rates, what you missed was that traffic accidents kill and injure far more people and do more property damage than crime does, and the vast majority of traffic accidents happen in the suburbs. 😊 Monteray Park is probably one the worst areas for crime and traffic accidents.
One way to choose the most safe suburb is to ask insurance companies how much they charge for house and car insurance policies in each suburb, and ask them which suburbs are the cheapest.
This video was really informative brother! I'm also planning to come to Calgary next year!! Could you please suggest to me which course is in demand there! ONE MAJOR PROBLEM THAT MOST CURRENT GENERATION INDIANS FACE: One thing couples with kids or couples planning to have kids should note, is that most Realtors are slightly dishonest and just want to make their commission selling you any house, so don't trust their promises of any imaginary future schools that might be planned for any community that you are considering investing so much money buying a house in. Do your own research when it comes to what schools are in and around your community, what schools are planned and how likely are they to be built before your kids graduate from University.😊 For example Martindale had to wait more than 20 years before enough schools were built for their kids, but now with CTrain, temples, Indian stores and lots of nearby schools this 30-year-old community is a perfect place to move to now though most of the nearby vegetarian restaurants closed 5 years ago.😢 So many extremely foolish patents buy in the unfinished suburbs, where their kids are forced to spend hours in school buses everyday while they spend extra fees to bus their kids to schools that might be as far as 15+ km away, as the schools in the neighboring communities might be too overcrowded/overcapacity. This is time (2-3 hours/day) your kids could instead spend playing or studying and is time they will never get back as childhood is by far the most valuable and inspirational time in anyone's life.. There's also a severe shortage of school bus drivers because morons and idiots in the school system were force vacc!nating school bus drivers so many of them quit and cannot be replaced at the extremely pathetic wages that they are willing to pay school bus drivers, so kids are very often stranded in the freezing cold or rain, waiting for school buses and are often hours late to school.. I am so fed up of hearing literally thousands upon thousands of foolish and stupid Indian parents complaining about lack of schools and inadequate school bussing where they themselves decided to buy their house, without taking any responsibility for their bad choices... Especially When we all should be complaining instead about the lack of Hindi, Punjabi, and other Indian languages, lack of Indian musical instruments and lack of culturally appropriate curriculum in our Public School Systems...😊 It is much easier and far more intelligent to buy a house in an existing established community that already has functioning elementary junior and senior high schools, rather than spending the next two-three decades complaining about the inconvenience and extra costs of not having school facilities in your chosen neighborhood, subdivision or area of the city. IF YOU WANT TO HAVE KIDS, FORGET THE NEW UNSUSTAINABLE PARTLY BUILT SUBURBAN COMMUNITIES, AND CHOOSE THE ESTABLISHED NEIGHBORHOODS WHERE THESE FACILITIES ALREADY EXIST. SCHOOLS WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE, were always the first priority of my parents, and previous generations. 😊
