This is where my dad, Paul Charles Lavigne worked for a long time , I used to come along sometimes for the ride on the snow mobile when it snow 10 feet and we couldn’t get there by car. I know this building very well and how he kept the building heated with coal. It was lots of fun being a kid and playing in this building Great memories and video.
I lived in Bathurst for several years. I finished up Grade six at Parkwood Heights Elementary then I went to JG Chalmers Junior High School and Bathurst High School. I always liked this building but never got to see the inside of it until now. Thank you for showing us.
grew up in Bathurst and have memories of being in this building with my dad when it was up for rent at somepoint in the early 2000s. Beyond happy to see its not going to fall victim to another apartment building teardown and its getting properly restored. They dont make em like this anymore
Such a beautiful part of our heritage, so very proud that it is being restored, long overdue, the only thing I remember was walking from South Bathurst every other day to get our mail, but interested in wanting to know what was the building used for prior to the post office. To the originazation that is doing this restoration, thanking u with all our heart's, Bathurst will never forget.

The building was built to be the Bathurst post office. That was its original function.
