I have a white Coton de tulear dog. He is ten years old. I struggled for 2 years with his tear stains and tried ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING!! From special food, homemade food, medications, and supplements. Until I ran across a post in a newsletter that said to give him BOTTLED WATER! In 2 weeks I saw a noticeable difference. In a month all stains were gone...and have stayed gone for the last 8 years and that's all he drinks.
My dog is very naughty and I can not easily clean him in the eye area but he is very cute like Yumi and xanti ... I would also like to ask how you do and he is so calm at the time of grooming. Has any training been done or is it just in their nature to be quiet?
I provide my Maltese bottled water but still has mild tear stains. I clean every day and alternate with home food. My vet suggested to give angel eyes supplement but did not help so I stop. Any suggestions???
The bottom line is one by one changing everything possible. Try a different food brand or even better homemade meals. 🙂 The hair then has to be cut completely even several times since the red cannot be washed out. It takes a lot of patience.

the vet has just told me to clean his eyes with a little soap and water at bath time but you know the red prints do not go away
