ON a recent reread Morning Star became my favorite pretty much all because of Cassius' storyline loved it so much!
Pretty sure you're right it was meant to be trilogy the next quartet takes place years and years after the first.
Next quartet in Red Rising I think you may like better because of multiple POVs, less Darrow, and more worldbuilding/character work.
It's hard to be a funny man when you've got the fate of nearly 18 billion people riding on your shoulders. His brooding personality is thematically the correct choice.And we have Sevro for the humor.
