The only actions that can hit ward are those like 'grab your sword' or 'be prepared' that aren't choosing a specific character but deal board wide effects, or an action/effect that makes opposing player banish their character and they only have the one or more characters with ward on the board then the ward character is chosen bypassing the protection of ward
