William Stange Love your comment. I brought this up at my son's school and they seemed excited but most parents weren'tt really interested 😞. Thats when , I decided to self teach and Im instructing my son as well .
I could honestly watch this again and again and again. The ideas, hope and cinematography are simply outstanding! And Janine Benyus... I could listen to you all day.
@@thatssofetch3481 You have been lied to on such a large scale that you can’t comprehend right now. Even "globalists" know it's not a spinning ball...check out the logos for the UN, the international maritime organization, the international civil aviation organization, the WHO.
The most logical solutions I have ever heard... Thank YOU so much for bringing the wisdom forward. Helping us all be part of the solution and not the pollution.
This is what Biomimicry means to me. Its mean ," The De - Evolution of Humankinds Reliance on Technology and the Evolution of Humankinds Connection with Mother Nature."
This is the most informed and interesting video i have seen in a very long time. Incredibly well explained by the scientist Janine Benyus. I wish she was my science teacher at school. I actually understand things when you say them Janine Benyus
Every second of this video was so beautifully structured & filled with inspiration that it does make you wonder, we are not the ones lost, we are not really looking. Thank you Janine, this is a very moving summary.
A masterpiece of inspiration & communication laying down the simplest of messages, that the answers already surround us, we just need to open our eyes, ears and hearts. If we are to survive, this needs to be seen & embraced by all human kind. Thank you!
IT's mankind's hubris and belief that we're the smartest thing that ever existed on this planet that stops us from adopting these methods. To accept that, perhaps, we didn't get it right, and that the answers were right there in front of our face the whole time, would be admitting that we've been stupid. Our collective ego is too fragile and not mature enough to do that. We still need to be "God"
It really is taking off in labs everywhere; I remember a Japanese research team that analysed the proboscis of Mosquitoes to create syringes that do not stretch the skin so much when inserted and so are much less painful. Another team applied the surface contours of dragonfly wings to create turbines that generate less air resistance, so they extract more energy. Biomimicry really does have solutions for everything
So glad a film was made to explain #biomimicry in lay terms. This will be a great tool the spread the word about how biomimicry should be spreading across our economies and to help change the way we think. Lot's of work ahead!
Thank you ! I can't wait to share this with my kids and friends. There is an infinite amount of exploration, innovation and invention under our noses waiting to be realized. No jobs out there? Create a job! As an Naturopathic physician, it is my constant cry to my patients to look to nature to heal, be well.
The great thing I notice about this video -- aside from the wonderfully uplifting information -- is that Janine Benyus pauses between sentences. That's rare on RUclips today. It seems the standard tactic is to keep up an unbroken stream of patter in order to discourage listeners from turning the video off, or hitting pause. Watch any SciShow video; you'll see what I mean.
This is such an amazing video. Life takes care of its offspring by taking care of its environment. Not for a few years or decade, but for thousands of years. When we look at family this way, we are all brothers and sisters, and we are the offspring of all human cultures. Together, we can work to protect our offspring, not for a few years or decades, but for thousands of years.
I absolutely loved this video, it's spectacular! I didn't know about the vast majority of these projects but they're amazing and I'm so glad that people have been researching these things more!! I can't wait to see what new things we discover about the world we live in!
I'm currently going to OCAD U (Ontario College of Art and Design) and they offer Biomimicry but not until third year. Now I'm dealing with courses that Im not that passionate in :(. Any idea how to get a scholarship to ASU? :)
I am electrical engineer, and I love the idea of the answer litterally around us. One of our classic problem on thermal power generations are environmental effect. Maybe soon by biomimicry we'll find solutions.
This imo is the best idea ever!! its an idea that will (if we resort to it more) will help us in understanding how to help save our planet. I love this idea because it allows us to look to nature for ideas, it allows us to think outside the box. I LOVE IT!!
Love this! Nature is way of ahead us. To see its brilliance you cant just try to figure it out intellectually, you have to open your heart and observe it in awe.
I loved the part about nacre, which is also known as mother-of-pearl in English. My only concern is an important one: at 7:06 the speaker says that carbon dioxide constructs shells and coral, while in fact CO2 dissolves them -- i.e. the the calcium bicarbonate parts of those organisms like their shells -- by forming carbonic acid (H2CO3) upon mixture with H2O. Correct? Therefore, the danger of ocean acidification was dismissed within the first 8 minutes of this video. I love positivity, I encourage it, yet the subject of decreasing the pH of oceans is very significant.
77 board members from the plastic, crude oil, and chemical industries disliked this video because it threatens their bottom line, as well as their resource power-grip on humanity

Im making a documentary about this for school, this is perfect! Really interesting, this gives me hope. Also why gas no one noticed this this is from 8 years ago?
Finally someone who appreciates intelligent design! The bible says there is nothing new under the sun, what has been, will be. God thought of all these designs and now we can observe and apply these designs to practical living. We are searching the the mind of the Almighty and actually seeing his thoughts.
as a technological species ourselves, it is only natural to imagine organic life as the technology of a hypothetical other based on our own human image.
I think it is really hard for human kind to accept, evolution and mother nature is smarter. Can we leave ego aside? Can we notice this brilliant teacher called earth, can we treat her respectfully?
If this isn't a testament to a living God, i don't know what is. I'm sad it's take thousands of years for humans to catch up with the wonderful gift they've been given.
As usual an iconoclast ahead of the time. 8yrs later this inspired by nature formula is more relevant than ever.
"The best ideas might not be ours , they might be already invented. " I love that statement.😊

True , I agree 😇
"Life uses very, very elegant recipes. Low temperature, low pressures, low toxicities." Love this.

No, you didn't. that's impossible... Or you just didn't learn at school :)

If you honesty believe in the flat earth, it’s not too unbelievable that you learned nothing in a decade of education.
