You can see how much it was weighing on her, like she didn't want to disappoint The Doctor, but at the same time she couldn't not mention it. She was right in the end as well.
And only in the very end, Missy did deside to stand with the Doctor. Without hope, without witness, without reward. Only in darkness are we revealed. The doctor never knew he was able to change his friend's mind.
@@rafdcs I don't think he ever actually did, I think that's why he regenerated into a woman, he was thinking about all the lost potential Missy had. Yes but it's a joke and I'm not going to make that joke about a child. So I picked the first one we see on TV. Also William Hughes may have played a flashback for like 5 seconds but he's hardly "The Master" just a story prop. Like no one will correct someone saying William Hartnell is the First and mention the kid's legs in Listen was the first Doctor.

@@MegaAstroFan18 We don't know that the Master from series 12 is after Missy...indeed, there's no sign of Missy regenerating, and the Master says she wouldn't be able to...though that's not always reliable for the Master, as he's bypassed regeneration before. But it could well be that the Simm Master regenerated into the Dhawan Master. After all, Missy couldn't remember much of what had happened due to the crossing over of his/her time streams.
@@MegaAstroFan18 there was a big finish character called the Lumiat who is the good version of the Master, like the Valeyard who is the evil Doctor. Maybe the Lumiat comes after Missy.
This is my one of my favourite scenes in series 10. I could listen to the Doctor talk about The Master all day. The music, the dialogue, the scenery (especially the rooftop scene), it's just amazing
I love it when they talk about Gallifrey but keep it vague enough that it lets your mind wander, it enhances the mythical aspect of the Time Lords. And it's so cool to think about the Doctor and the Master as kids, optimistic and brilliant but both outcasts who are drawn to each other. I like thinking about this scene when I rewatch the Tennant and Simm episodes.
It's freaky to think that while Bill was pleading with the Doctor to not let Missy out of the box, Missy had already tortured dissected Bill and turned her into a Cyberman. Sure, she doesn't remember it, but she HAD already done it. The Doctor was promising everything was going to be fine when Bill's horrific fate had already been sealed, even if none of them knew yet.
I love that this series actually acknowledged the Doctor's feelings for the Master since they were kids. 😭 She was his mancrush. They truly admire each other.
And in an audio story where Missy chats with Jo Grant, she explains the relationship from her point of view. Paraphrasing as I'm writing purely from memory, but it goes something like this. Jo: "But you and the Doctor are always fighting." Missy: "That's how I flirt, Oh Doctor come see my new superweapon! Crushes are embarrassing thing."
Don't care for it. Well acted, well directed, but I found the actual story boring and not what I'm interested in when it comes to Doctor Who. Best moment of S9 was the Zygon speech, but the rest of that two parter I found slow too. S10 was a huge step up in the quality of writing.
I hate Clara. Passionately. The sonic sunglasses and the electric guitar were cringe. The only good thing about the Dalek two parter was Missy, the flood two parter is forgettable, Ashildr was an awfully written character, the zygon two parter features a good speech but other than that, forgettable, and the only good part of Husbands is the last 10 mins. Series 10 beats it in every way, that's when the general public started enjoying Doctor Who again, and not just intense fans were watching.

Yeah, I completely agree! That's one of the other things I particularly loved about an episode such as Heaven Sent. Capaldis' face looked beautiful! Not only did she make him look as good as he possibly could, but she also helped bring out the emotion he tried to portray, and set the mood for the scene. Just as lighting should.
