I'm from Florida and just found out about New Smyrna beach and plan on taking a trip on a weekend I'm off and enjoying myself 😎🍺 thank you for the tour and different places to check out while your there
Thanks for this. My family and I are vacationing there in July. We’re looking for things for 14&20 year old girls to do. We love the paddle boarding idea.
I am a local. that island is called disappear ing island. chicken island is another cool one. it has a tiki bar on it that someone put up. have to bring your own drinks though lol. its right across from the outrigger restaurant and marina.
We were there on Sunday and only got bit once! Just kidding! We didn't see any sharks and rarely do. If you're staying close to the shoreline and away from Ponce Inlet, it's very rare that you see a shark.
Yep! Alligators and sharks have been spotted in the Indian River, however, we’ve never seen a shark in the area we’re paddle-boarding, and it’s been years since Andrew saw an alligator on the shoreline where we put the kayak in.
Great question! I (Andrew) saw an alligator about 10 years ago where we put our kayak in, however, I haven't seen once since. BUT I still don't swim over there. Normally, alligators stay in fresh water and the Indian River is a mix of fresh and salt water, so you'll mainly see dolphins and manatees. We feel pretty safe with jumping in the Indian river where I was floating around on the pool noodles for a bit, because of the high boat traffic and it's fairly shallow as you saw.
Yep, you're absolutely right! I realized that when watching the recording and said "dang, can't go back and change that now". Thanks for the correction for anyone else wondering in the comments. - Andrew
@@RebuildTheSoul so funny story... he actually lives about an hour away in Winter Park, FL. We were visiting friends and saw him jogging down the street and they said, "hey that's carrot top". I was like "yea right". And sure enough... it was. He owns a house around there. So we might really see him one day in NSB.
Pretty crazy! But of 64 shark attacks worldwide in 2019, 21 of them were in Florida and 9 were in New Smyrna Beach. In 2020 there were 8. So pretty low numbers considering the intense title!
@@AndrewandMegan and from what I read they have rarely been life threatening type injuries. It's like a laceration. Maybe you lose one toe if it's a bad bite. Meh. We have 9 others 😂 but one thing I wanted to mention is that it's a myth that dolphins don't swim with sharks. It's actually the opposite. Copying this from Google : "This is a myth," Andrew Nosal, a shark expert at the University of San Diego, told Live Science in an email. And this myth couldn't be farther from the truth, Stephen Kajiura, a shark expert at Florida Atlantic University, said. "If anything, it's the opposite," he told Live Science, "If you see dolphins, more often than not, there might be sharks in that same area."
Another great video! The North Causeway is incredible! And Brad @ Paddle Board NSB is awesome.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
I am LOVING your New Smyrna videos!! You guys are so smiley and the videos looks so pretty! Keep doing what you're doing!😊
Thank you, that's so kind!
I'm moving to N.Smyrna Beach real soon. I like the fact that's so close to Orlando
You'll love it! And yep, not far at all. About a hour depending on I-4 or 415 traffic.
I prefer Hallandale beach Florida beautiful city good beaches and restaurants and growing businesses and communities, and good nightlife.🇺🇸☀️
Great town too! Maybe we’ll do our next beach video there!
@@AndrewandMegan definitely it’s a beautiful beach city.

About how far would you say that Kayak trip is from the place you mentioned to rent and Disappearing Island II? Headed to NSB in August!
Awesome! You’ll love it there! And It’s about half a mile. It probably takes us about 15-20 minutes to paddle there from the rental shop.
So funny that Publix was out of bread and the BBQ Resturant was out of pork! 🤣😂🤣 But the benefit is that we got more restaurant recommendations!
haha right?! Always a silver lining though!
Are there alligators and sharks in that river?

Do we have to worry about alligators when getting in the water or other things

I can't believe that's a river. It's so ocean or bay looking to me! Rivers.in the north east are dark dirty brown yuck..lol this one looks very nice.
Celebrity sighting- Guess who? 😂 1:54

New smyrna beach is the shark attack attack capitol in the world!!!! So stupid
