    I am in stage 1 apparently right now and its been about 4 months since my wrist has been hurting. How long were you in pain before you went into stage 3? I am sorry this happened to you . I kind of know how you feel . I always wanted to play baseball and play in the MLB. I need to get surgery

    Just been diagnosed with advanced stage 3a keinbocks disease I'm 21 so my doctor doesn't want to replace the bone with a mechanical one. Also my ulna is already to small for it to be reduced at all so I don't know what type of surgery to go for. He's talking about a wrist fusion but I just can't deal with that. Any advice would be appreciated

    Which surgery did you have? was it the radial bone flap? My husband's lunate has a fracture and he has Kienbocks. we are trying to figure out which surgery to go with. None of them sound promising on Range of Motion, which is a huge concern for him
    Thanks!

    Hi there, thank you for posting a blog regarding your story. Like you I dedicate most my life into sport (badminton), my wrist has been hurting for 1.5 months now. And have been told by my surgeon that I have early stages of Kienbock will need to take out part of Radius. I am wondering if you have an email we can exchange conversation? I am really worried about movement after the surgery.

    when i had my surgery in Feb of 2013, they cut my radius bone in to and shortened the bone and placed a titanium plate and 9 screws. my surgery was filmed, but they refuse to let me watch it for some reason. i do happen to have pics of the x-rays though.

      +We Can Be The Greatest I feel awesome. I have complete range of motion and have no restrictions as of now. I am just a few weeks shy of the 3 year anniversary of my surgery, and my wrist feels better than it was when I was younger. I really appreciate you taking the time to ask about it, and I hope you have progressed as well as I have.

    hey i just wanted to know what type of procedure did u get done and what were your results. im 29 years old and was diagnosed that i have kienbocks disease yes its the lunar (lunate) bone that gets damages through a fracture and blood supply is lost and deterioration of the bone its painful and the range of motion to the bone becomes limited and painful when doing daily activities as well as when you lift anything above 5-10 pounds it sucks being an active guy and being handy cap with out really being handy cap you become imoble yeah i have been bumbed out lately and my insurance provider here in southern California has recomended a carpelectomy or a( prc) a procedure im compleately against if it aint broken dont fix it. is what i believe im gonna get a lunate transplant done instedi was thinking bout doing stem cells as well to see ehat my out come would be idk. but yeah would love some feed back on how it was and how you are now .

    I had my surgery in 2011 but i had a proximal row Carpectomy they removed three bones. recovery was a bitch though and i didnt have anything put into my wrist, two years later i had another emergency surgery where the removed the fourth and final bone from the proximal row and did a major clean up of the bone fragments floating around as well as a tissue graft to cushion the empty space where the bones used to be and stop the rubbing and ware of the bones that are there now but arent meant to go together. Now its been 5 years since my diagnosis and I'm still feeling pain and seeing further deterioration. I'm telling you this only so that you will be careful, Kienbocks is a very mysterious disease that doctors are not fully researched in, there is a lot we don't know yet about it, I am learning that the hard way, that even though I've had surgery still lost a lot of the use and I'm still seeing further damage and having pain even 5 years later, and I too was stage 3b. I recommend getting periodic x-rays every year just to make sure things are still okay.

    • @kgkasiakg
      @kgkasiakg  8 лет назад

      sorry to hear that. yeah I'm prepared for the worst and kind of got used to pain by now. falling on ice the other day didn't help.

    • @theresamason5401
      @theresamason5401 7 лет назад

      I just had the same three bones removed last week. I'm still in a lot of pain from the recovery. I'm more worried about the stiffness and and shooting pains that are going through my hand and into my wrist. Did you have anything like this?

    • @ShayleighXOX
      @ShayleighXOX 7 лет назад +1

      Yes recovery was very hard, and bone surgery of any kind is worse. If the pain persists or gets worse check with your surgeon, i had an issue with my cast being too tight and not enough padding near my incisions so it was always rubbing and causing me pain, i called and made an appt and had a new cast put on that felt much better. Just take it easy make sure you are resting your wrist as much as possible and take your meds on time something that i discovered which helped so much with pain and sleeping etc is i bought a small bean bag pillow to rest my arm on and because it moulded to my arm it made things much more comfortable for me . Unfortunately kienbocks is an ongoing disease, even with surgery we will never fully be rid of it. And sometimes we see people get it in their other arm as well from over compensating so always take things easy. And like i mentioned before make sure you get periodic xrays if you still have pain a year from now, as recovery will take you a while, especially if it was your dominant hand like me
      If you guys have anymore questions for me email me at shanti.xox@gmail.com and i will be putting out some short videos to my channel about my kienbocks

    • @ShayleighXOX
      @ShayleighXOX 7 лет назад

      Well i have about 5 bean bag pillows in my bed lol my right hand is the one that was operated on and if im on my right side i squish the bean bag pillow beside my head pillow to raise my wrist a little but still letting the pillow mould to my wrist so its not stiff. Same goes for my left side i use the pillows to raise my arm comfortably and if im on my back it depends how i feel but again a squishy pillow helps a lot because i can fix it into different shapes and positions until im comfortable. For me putting my arms on my stomach is painful because the bending of the elbow sometimes makes my arm numb and i get uncomfortable pins and needles. If you still have your cast on its going to be a rough ride of figuring out what works.
