Yes, Lemmy was on this album. Hawkwind are still going with founder Dave Brock still on lead guitar and vocals at the age of 82! They released a very good album last year and have just released another which I haven't heard yet.
Nice how edibles complement Hawkwind. Back in 73 I always watched them perform while on acid. Another band who played with Hawkwind is Man, their song, "Spunk Rock" was recorded live at the same gig as Hawkwind. They can be found on an album called "Greasy Truckers Party" with Brinsley Schwarz. One more similar band is a German "Krautrock" band called Can whose album, Monster Movie includes an extraordinary track called "You Doo Right". Psst... Your Dad might know some of them.
When I bought this album ( -Florissant, Mo. Venture store in 1975' ) it had a skip. Remember vinyl? Returned it. The middle-aged lady at the Customer Service desk got on the intercom - and (-over the store's PA system ) asked the "record department" if they had: "Flying is trying is dying" - some of the random text from the gatefold. I had to inform her it was called "Space Ritual" from the band Hawkwind. The memory makes me smile.
One on my favourite live albums. Recorded at a time when concept albums were a big thing. I'd probably say it is a concept album although it's not really a story and yeah, I believe Lemmy was on this tour having joined the band 1971 -1975
@@DashyAndDadReacts lemmy originally wanted to play guitar in Hawkind, but there was enough guitarists, so he played bass instead. But ended up playing bass like a guitar anyway 😂😂🤡
Another one I'd forgotten I'd asked for! What a brain. _Of_ _course_ it's Lemmy, and also I think Simon King is a vastly underrated drummer. I saw them live once, in the 80s, and my enduring memory is that the audience were divided 50-50 between wearers of denim and leather and wearers of afghans. Sorry to learn of Dashy's drinking problem.
Few synths in those days so Del Detmar and Dikmik used sound generators I think a vcs3. Hawkwind were amazing live in the 70’s and 80’s, saw them all over and t festivals, never dull. Nik turners sax adds aswell and watch the films of him performing - never dull!
Yeah ..probably the best live album ever ..im on mh second one now ..worn the last vinyl one out lol ...this is your captain speaking your captain is dead 💀
It's at either #1 or #2 for me, depending on whether you count Nightwish's _Showtime,_ _Storytime,_ which is primarily a DVD. But that was never an LP, so #1 then!
@@DashyAndDadReactsI prefer the In Search of Space version of Masters of the Universe. Dave Anderson on bass, he of Foel Studios, The Groundhogs and Amon Duul 2.
These two tracks were not on any of their early albums but appeared on a live album called Greasy Truckers Party, which featured a couple of likeminded bands
A Space Ritual - best live album ever - you need to doo the whole thing - you won't regret it if you like Bornn to Go! Earth Calling, Earth Calling, Earth Calling Earth Calling...
I don't buy many CDs these days but last year I did get the 50th Anniversary Stereo Remix of this classic album. It restores a couple of songs to their full length and adds 'You Shouldn't Do That'. Better clarity too. I love 'Brainstorm', 'Orgone Accumulator' and 'Sonic Attack'.
brainstorm has still been edited it's longer than the original lp with wind of change section added even the new boxset liverpool concert is edited the full un edited version is on space ritual sundown vol 2 if you don't have it it's well worth a listen
