Lovely gesture. I am sure it’s just a ploy for Simon to get a new bike and join you on ‘Europe trips’ 🤣🤔 Perhaps you could give Simon some online guitar lessons….or add a guitar to his collection 🎸 Stay safe and well you two
Wow, you don't come across offers like that every day of the week! What a star guy is Simon I do hope you can get it runing and it's turning over which is a good sign. Cood be a fouled plug, or bad coil or maybe just old fuel with being sat. I await the next episode to see how you got on?
What you absolutely must do is get this bike on the road, enjoy it and when you outgrow it or fancy a change, pass it on to someone else for free. Won't take much to get that running well again. Good service, new fuel and she'll be fine.
Hi Guy's, What a fantastic gesture by Simon 😊. We are sure you will do the right thing and give it a second chance, enjoy. Take care and ride safe 🙏. Paul and Joanne 👍 ❤️
Wow, well done. A fabulous gift that will also gove you some great content for the channel. I'm looking forwards to seeing what you think about this bike when she's running.
@ perfect for commuting to work really comfortable and that big screen will keep the wind and rain of you keep your new shiny chrome one for Sundays perfect 🙌
Well Andrew I think you have done well there mate its a nice gift from simon 👍. You have to get it up and running and cherish it , its not every day someone gives you a FREE motorbike thanks to simon ...Andrew you and Claire put a lot of work into this channel, you both deserve things like this we are pleased for you both 😊.. ❤ Phil/Tina x
It looks a good one. It's perfect for touring on and daily commutes. You can ride it when the weather isn't good and keep your Royal Enfield for sunny dry days
Wow man what a lovely thing to do. Respect to Simon. Im sure it's just a fuel fault or plugs. Simple fix, hopefully. Not a bad dilemma to have Andy...... Which bike to ride😂 Enjoy!
New battery and fresh tank of fuel ? I had a Versys 650 … it was my first adventure style bike and was faultless. I rode it with a group of mates on a trip to the Mohne Dam in Germany [Dambusters). The weather on the return journey was hideous non stop heavy rain but the Versys didn’t miss a beat. Enjoy the opportunity you have. 👍
Ah it'll be something simple to get her up and running, (wasn't engine cut out switch was it lol) What a gift 😊 When the weather improves set up a RUclips mini tour, Harvey Rides Bikes are currently uploading his /their Geeece trip 😎 Been binge watching your other channel, great ideas of destinations to go on the bike, hell of a funny watch too 😂
Seriously considering a Kawasaki versys 1000 2021 model, simply because I took one out and found it was very good for a pillion. The Misses and I enjoy going out on my current bike, but the versys seems to do a fantastic job in that department
That was a nice gift 😊 my moto bike had sat for a couple of years what I bought it was doing what that’s doing. I changed the fuel in it started first time
I've had 2 versys , great bikes and very reliable ...quality plugs and good oil you'll be right ! Change your coolant for one of the ice cool ones as the fan cuts in quickly at a stand still . I put a Scorpion can on mine and it sounded great , one bike I regretted selling tbh ! Congrats 👍🏻
What a lucky chap you are, understanding wife two bikes, one free !!! What more could a man ask ? Well apart from cheaper fuel prices and free beer lol 😂 just as i always say take care out there and maybe just maybe one of these days our paths may cross and we can have a coffee or beer (alcohol free) and a natter.
Travelled around Tenerife on a Versys. Great bike. Super easy to ride and more than enough poke for all conditions. Great commuter bike and then you have the RE for weekends and good weather.
I've got one from the same year and mine was stood for 8 years in my garage. They are absolutely solid engines and it will be completely fine. You will need to do some standard jobs like changing all fluids in it, oil/brake fluid/coolant etc. easy enough to learn how to do yourself. Next thing to learn will be replacing spark plugs and brake maintenance. Every engine has quirks and the one you want to look out for on this is the water pump, it's a little bit over engineered on this and can go wrong in many different ways, if it's sat for a long time the ceramic bearing that seals the water impeller can go bad and when you get the bike going the seal can fail. Easy enough to fix yourself with some reading of the service manual and £40 in parts. Just get some new fuel in it and it I reckon it will go. Work from there.
@@bikerofatlantis forgot to say, the way you know it's gone wrong is there will be a slow drip of antifreeze from the weephole on the bottom of the water pump, wipe it with paper towel and if it's coloured red you know it needs sorting. When you swap the coolant out use some coolant flush before putting the new one in, should clear out anything that's crystallised inside whilst being sat in a garage. Give us a ping if you start pulling your hair out over it. The versys is a great bike, I use mine to go camping and fishing and it's great.
I've got a black versys aswell. Mines an 07 plate & they're virtually bulletproof. The only niggle I have is the fairings around the tank rattle & squeak like crazy. I'd put fresh fuel, oil & coolant in, charge the battery & I reckon you're away.

I bought a new versys 1000 in 2020. I had it for four years and 30,000 trouble free miles. It took me all around Europe. You will have loads of fun on that bike. Really comfortable and when you’re ready, really good for a pillion.
the kawasaki versys 650 is a really reliable parallel twin ,read owners reviews ,they love them and im sure once your doining the twisties you will too ,great video, looking forward to the next one.
Amazing aye. I was jealous when you got the Royal Enfield, now your man Simon has given you another bike I nearly bought a few years ago. Two years ago my Honda Hornet 600 was stolen from outside my house and I haven't able to afford to replace it. The bike was 20 years old so was worth hardly anything and as usual, the insurance I had stitched me up big time. It would be smashing if someone offered me a free bike too. I can wish, lol......
Right then. Kawasaki ownership: Hello, I'm Swoop, you may have read comments from me previously, I'm a Kawasaki nut who started out on an AR80, been through a ZXR400, ZX-6R, ZX-10R, Z1000SX and a current (newer) 1000SX. I'll say from the start, the full company name is Kawasaki Heavy Engineering. It's a very apt name. Every Kwack I've ever ridden you can turn on the brakes. Every other bike I've ever ridden, you even think of touching the brakes mid corner you're going through the hedge. The versys might be a bit different as it's the opposite of a sporty riding position but I can't imagine Kawasaki haven't given it their usual laser guided front end. However, the rear shock isn't broken, they're all hard at the back. A journalist in MCN described my ZXR400 as "like being attacked by a trainee mugger specialising in liver and kidneys". Servos go first, most probably the exhaust valve servo. Don't worry about that one, just jam the valve in the full open position and forget about it. The second most common non consumable, but seemingly consumable, thing to go will be the radiator. Kawasaki radiators aren't the strongest on the planet. Neither are the fuel filler caps, they start to leak after a while which isn't a problem unless stored outside in the rain. However, once water has gotten in you won't know it until the inside of the tank has gone rusty and taken your fuel pump with it.
@bikerofatlantis Oh yeah P.S. Yours not starting.....yep, could be fuel thats gone bad. Could also be fuel pump seized up. I hope this is a silly question but you have checked that the fuel tap isn't turned off, right?
Hi, I had the versys 1000 and flopped like Simon at ilkley moor car park, embarrassing or what. They’re a great bike but was too tall for me. I px ed it for my now Yamaha tracer 900 gt a bit lighter and lowered suspension. Your versys is a fantastic gift and you will enjoy it so much. Phil.
Hmmm, nice enough bike and might be more suited to commuting through winter than the newer bike. The additional insurance and tax/MOT might become a burden. TBH I think it's over complicating things at this stage.
Grats on the new addition Andy. Just want to say that I reckon folks need to stop pressuring Clare into riding as well. I'm sure folks mean well but if Clare wanted she's had everÿ opportunity to take up biking herself. Her support of your interest is wonderful but from where I sit Clare doesn't have the bug herself. Yet every single video has comments that talk about Clare taking it up as well. So folks, she will if she wants to, for herself. I just think that it is not cool that she faces so much pressure from this community. I might be way out of line, there may not be an issue but i think it worth pointing out and maybe people could lay off the "getting Clare riding too" deal which seems repeated in the comments of most videos. Cheers to you both E.
Don't look a gift horse......looks a brilliant gift, very lucky, have no fears, its a Kawasaki, possible stuck fuel pump but fresh fuel and general service, it will be good to go! Check tyre age.
_"What are you going to do while you're looking after the kids?"_ _"I'm gonna take the bike to Europe!"_ Er....so, the kids are being dragged along behind on skateboards?
Well well well, yet another wee project for you. Some of the stories the chap relayed to you were amazing, but nutty, running with them bulls🤢. Don’t think you should add that to your list, just take it steady. You could go on your bike (s) to Europe etc and Claire can take the Motorhome with the dogs, until she gets her license. Good watch, stay safe.
Andy, don’t rule out the Honda Africa twin 1100, it’s a brilliant all round adventure bike, very well built & Reliable, (Visit On The Road channel Eva & Rich both have those bikes & tour all over place) perfect for you, not to mention the Voge & CF Moto ect, have fun 😊
I think these are very underrated. They ride great and look even better. I'd put my hat on it having no issues whatsoever. Looking forward to seeing its progress.
Something similar happened to me back end of last year although it wasn’t a complete stranger, I had worked on a guys house over several years and we quickly found we had several similar interests, motorcycles, aeroplanes this guy owned a motorcycle and a aeroplane, whilst working on in property i ofter talked about his motorcycle and he always said he didn’t ride it but had owned it from new its a 2001 Honda VFR800 6000 miles. So autumn last year I bumped into him and he asked if I wanted his bike so as you do i asked how much? His reply was nothing he was moving house and wouldn’t have the room for it, so i now have a Mint low milage VFR.
The VFR is sat on the optimiser in the garage along with the other bikes, its still on the original tyres so they need replacing not safe to ride on 24 year old tyres but i will get it on the road in the summer it did have a big re commission service two years ago so probably two tyres and fresh oil and filter although its not been riden since the service.
Will defo be fuel. Needs draining and some easy start if wont. When you ride this you wonder why yu got the RE. Now get safe chargers and put on both bikes. Plan to use E5 fuel and don’t leave in tank for long use it. Put spanner on timing crank and make sure not seized. Put some oil down bores forst
Why E5? It’s a 2010 bike and all Kawasakis have been designed to run on E10 since 2008. They were the last of the big four to do so, all Honda motorcycles have been designed and built to run on E10 since the early 2990s. That’s 30 years ago!
Cracking bike, so good it was one of my recommendations, probably just bad fuel shopping it from running, a couple of years ago i filled my bike up at the end of a ride at the end of October, because life got in the way,i didn't get a chance to use it until the beginning of march, it wouldn't start, the fuel stank🤢🤮🤮 had to drain about 10 ltr out and chuck some fresh fuel in to get it going, you'll enjoy riding it, insurance should be reasonable and with a pillion, summer evening rides to squires in order 👍
Curious. CarVertical is Freddie Dobbs' pals in Lithuania... very suss! Aren't there any BRITISH companies that do the same job?? Or is it just accepted now that we're more pro EU than we are PRO UK these days? Cheers BREXIT!
That’s a bit xenophobic. They’re an internationally known company with a lot of experience. What’s wrong with using them? As for suggesting that it’s a consequence of Brexit, well that’s unhinged. Did you make similar comments when they bought a motorcycle built in India? Surely that’s not BRITISH enough for you.
@@davidmatthews3093 I actually used to like Xena Warrior Princess! 1. What's wrong with pointing out a pattern of/by 'influencers' of a similar ilk? 2. What's wrong with enquiring about alternatives and choices? As for my 'Brexit' comment; well if you cant see the tongue in cheek relevance; then that's on you frendo!
@ As for editing your comment to add your own straw-man 'India' argument relating to a wholly separate question that is easily answerable on it's own is somewhat disingenuous to your original accusation. He spoke about many choices and alternatives, and was particularly smitten by a couple of Triumphs as I recall. By all means keep lunging at echoes and shadows but at least make an effort with it.
What’s the betting the bike is running before we see this video. battery seemed to be cranking alright. New fuel new plugs I’d be surprised if it was anything more serious.
Boring bike but also a brilliant bike. I suggested one for your first big bike. It was mine. Lovely to ride. Plenty of power. It's a lot more powerful than your RE. Do it all bike. They sound awful though but it's a bomb proof engine
Yeah probably just stale fuel in the system you should start making vids about maintaining the versys yourself Andy as its the older bike with no warranty to keep up 👍
The bike will be fine new spark plugs service new battery and when the nice weather comes, give me a shout and we can go motorbike camping and then the summer comes if you up for it we can do a trip across Europe I know all the good spots
Eek. I hired a Kawasaki Versys last December while on holiday in Cyprus. I couldn't wait to hand it back after the 3 days I'd hired it for. It was very comfortable, but I found that you need an inordinate amount of counter steer to haul its fat ass around corners, especially roundabouts. I wasn't impressed at all. Sorry.
What a lovely gift xx
It really was. We are very grateful to Simon and loved spending time talking to him. We are going to give the Versys everything it needs.
What a lovely gesture from Simon, he has restored my faith in the human race.
Thanks, it truly is

Hi. Thanks for your kind comment 👍
This is why I watch RUclips. Not that mainstream garbage on the TV. I love this adventure you are going on. It's brilliant entertainment .
Thank you very much 👍👍👍👍
New fuel, new plugs freshly charged battery....Boom...she's a runner🎉
👍👍👍👍
Well, Simon is a legend! What a nice thing to do. Looking forward to you getting it on the road.
Simon is indeed a legend
Bikes are like buses get one then another comes along.😂 what a great chap gifting you his bike.
Thanks
Two bikes are better than one :D
😂that is what everyone’s saying 😂
And three are better than two...
Mathematicians have calculated the correct number of bikes:
correct = current + 1
You know what they say, the equation for the ideal number of bikes is N+1
N being the number you currently have 😂
Two bikes are better, three must be best, no?
The bike gods are looking down on you! What a lovely gesture of kindness, I guess this will scratch the adventure bike itch. Need to stop saying midlife crisis. Hello. Thanks 👍👍👍👍
That’s pretty cool. Now you have a fun city bike and a light touring bike.

We know, we still can't believe it. I'm looking forward to learning about how the bike works as we get into it. Thanks for watching.
Good on Simon for passing the bike on! Most likely old fuel, a good service and cleaning the fuel system should have it sorted. Enjoy!
Thanks 🤩
Congrats on the new bike Looking forward to watching your adventures on it and how you find the difference between the two bikes.
Thankyou 👍

@bikerofatlantis Oh yeah P.S. Yours not starting.....yep, could be fuel thats gone bad. Could also be fuel pump seized up. I hope this is a silly question but you have checked that the fuel tap isn't turned off, right?
Yeah I’ve had the mechanics take a look and they’ve got a plan thank you
Nice one! It’s been garaged and it’s Japanese. It’ll run again.
👍👍👍
Hi,
I had the versys 1000 and flopped like Simon at ilkley moor car park, embarrassing or what.
They’re a great bike but was too tall for me.
I px ed it for my now Yamaha tracer 900 gt a bit lighter and lowered suspension.
Your versys is a fantastic gift and you will enjoy it so much.
Phil.
Thanks for sharing this. Have a great evening Phil
Are you planning on a comparison of the Super Meteor Versys the Kawa?
Not too sure just yet!
Hmmm, nice enough bike and might be more suited to commuting through winter than the newer bike. The additional insurance and tax/MOT might become a burden. TBH I think it's over complicating things at this stage.
Thanks
Cheers to you both
E.
Hello. She says she will look at CBT when it’s warmer 😂😂😂😂👍👍👍👍👍
Simples....New battery and a service ...."Bobs Yer Uncle " !!! 👍
Fingers crossed. The bikes looks almost new.
Nice one lucky chap
Don't look a gift horse......looks a brilliant gift, very lucky, have no fears, its a Kawasaki, possible stuck fuel pump but fresh fuel and general service, it will be good to go! Check tyre age.
Thank you 👍
_"What are you going to do while you're looking after the kids?"_
_"I'm gonna take the bike to Europe!"_
Er....so, the kids are being dragged along behind on skateboards?
Thanks for watching
wow lucky lad, the sun shone down in you
thanks John, hope you are well
Well well well, yet another wee project for you.
Hello 👋
Andy, don’t rule out the Honda Africa twin 1100, it’s a brilliant all round adventure bike, very well built & Reliable, (Visit On The Road channel Eva & Rich both have those bikes & tour all over place) perfect for you, not to mention the Voge & CF Moto ect, have fun 😊
Thanks 🤩
I think these are very underrated. They ride great and look even better. I'd put my hat on it having no issues whatsoever. Looking forward to seeing its progress.
Thanks 👍
Versys is a great little bike.
Thanks
Hi!! Wow great story. Do you take it out much? Hope you are ok
Man that topbox looks insanely high, wouldn't put much weight in there - a victim of that yard high back seat modern style of bike!
Ideal for my sandwiches
@@bikerofatlantis And your top hat! I have a straw hat in mine but I'm a bit older.
@@bikerofatlantis Thin bread 2 max
You will ride that more than the Enfield.
Thanks
Even if it doesn't work, it was free. So if sold on still 100% profit.
thanks for watching
I will charge the battery, let it prime a bit, and then start it. It should be fine.
thanks
Will defo be fuel. Needs draining and some easy start if wont. When you ride this you wonder why yu got the RE. Now get safe chargers and put on both bikes. Plan to use E5 fuel and don’t leave in tank for long use it. Put spanner on timing crank and make sure not seized. Put some oil down bores forst
Thanks for watching
@@bikerofatlantisirresistible both channels - thank you both
Hi. Thanks for watching and sharing this advice. Can’t wait to get her up and running 👍👍
Why? I don't understand the question.
Thanks
Clair's bike sorted 😉
oooosh
Curious. CarVertical is Freddie Dobbs' pals in Lithuania... very suss!
Aren't there any BRITISH companies that do the same job?? Or is it just accepted now that we're more pro EU than we are PRO UK these days?
Cheers BREXIT!
thanks for watching
Thank you for watching 👍
Good bikes I have one,I have emailed picture of mine
I also started late I was 60
Thanks Kevin
Nice one Simon!!! I can't wait to watch you get this back on the road, they are gorgeous bikes and I'm jealous!!
Thanks 👍
Boring bike but also a brilliant bike. I suggested one for your first big bike. It was mine. Lovely to ride. Plenty of power. It's a lot more powerful than your RE. Do it all bike. They sound awful though but it's a bomb proof engine
Thanks 🤩
Yeah probably just stale fuel in the system you should start making vids about maintaining the versys yourself Andy as its the older bike with no warranty to keep up 👍
Thanks 👍
Well if you trade them both you should be able to get a good BMW GS so your there.
haha
Where? Dull and Boring?
The bike will be fine new spark plugs service new battery and when the nice weather comes, give me a shout and we can go motorbike camping and then the summer comes if you up for it we can do a trip across Europe I know all the good spots
Hi thanks for sharing
Gift horse and mouth come to mind... It's an excellent stablemate for the Enfield. However, I like you but your getting none of mine....
😂😂😂😂
There is not such a thing like enough many bikes.
😂😂
Sorry.
thanks for sharing
Drain old fuel, clean injectors, new sparks and she'll be reet!
thanks for this info
