I agree with you Jon.. it makes no sense to overpay his abilities, granted he did do somewhat well in the postseason but that doesn’t justify his contract. Now clean house & get some gritty, tenacious & nasty guys on the rangers.. goaltending & defense wins cups

I'm on board with this move I think it was the right move and I like that our GM knows how to navigate these waters. Goodrow is going to make over 20 million in total for his 6-year 3.6 million contract That's crazy for a fourth line center I get being a little upset but he should be pretty psyched that he sent himself up for life

I'm not a big Drury fan, but this was definitely the right move, we were never going to be able to unload this guy and his ridiculous contract.

Goodrow will be traded to a playoff team, at the deadline, with retention, for a decent pick
How about pursuing Anthony Mantha? I know he's another righty shot, but his size would address a deficiency...
If they can dump Trouba (I'm 10000% against buyouts) then get Kane and Marchassault on 3 year deals. You'd have an extra spot open if Kakko leaves and the short term deal allows room for Othman, Sykora and Berard to grow a little. Each guy 3x5.
As much as I like Goodrow, clearing the cap space was a smart move. I wish him well.
We should waive Trouba and hope for a miracle. Then if that fails do a buyout.
Really don't want to buy him out and find ourselves paying him for years. Buyout's have to be considered a very last ditch option.
Now Drury can go after Bertuzzi, Toffoli , Marchessault or Guentzel

Marchessault would be most ideal here. Guentzel is a LW we don't need any of those... Bertuzzi is not the guy this tewm needs... Toffoli or I really think perron would be perfect for Zib and Krider... I also have to say KUBILIAK could fit very nicely for an even cheaper contract.
I think the Rangers should bring up at least two young forwards and a defenseman and just go with that.
Dury doing him dirty. I don't see a Truba deal or buyout make any sense. Rangers are a top 3 team in the league. Shouldn't have a major change. I mean they lost in ECF against Cup Champs. It's a successful season i mean let's be real....

IMO he is getting overpaid by 2.5mil.... this extra money is all the intagibales he brings... Leadership,Veteran, Feared around the league....
I see him as a Dion Phaneuf. Not going to wow u with offense but he can chip in and he has a good well rounded game... He needed to step up to fill in Fox Role because he was hurt and not producing.... usually you cannot fill in the shoes of a Norris winning defenseman so I actually blame it on coaching... I think Laffy should.be with zib and krider.
Kakko should easily put up 50 with arty and Vinny.
Lindgren should be traded for the fox Lindgren duo needs to be adjusted and let Miller really showcase his talents...

I think this was a big mistake. He had a bad year but he was a pain in the butt to opposing teams. He was a leader in the room. He has a lot of things going for him outside the scoresheet, not easily replaceable. Big mistake.
It’s just the cap space. He’s a good player, but Laf and Igor are great players 🤷♂️
I would have been fine with Goodrow if he had a cap hit of say $1.5 M per. But $3.7M was insane the day it was signed. Thankfully they got it off the books. You can replace Goodrow for much less.

And for three more years ?!? If it was one more year on that contract, I could look past it, but insane to pay him 3.6 mil till his late 30s. Love the guy but unfortunately it had to get done.
