Hook knows he is far from a saint and he sure doesn't need other people reminding him that "he's just a pirate" to know that he has done some terrible things in the past. But he also has that capacity to be a better version of himself and it isn't until Emma shows up in his life that he realizes that he can be more that "just a pirate".

Thank you so much! That means a lot to me. I definitely agree with you about learning more of his past. I would really want to see what his childhood was like before his father abandoned him and perhaps learn what happened to his mother. Hopefully we get more insight into his past this next half of the season.
