Karma is what is referred to as a "Glitter Pen Pop Song" by Taylor herself- it's meant to be fun and catchy, but not have much real substance. I personally maintain that her 3 a.m. tracks are far superior to anything else on the regular album (except You're On Your Own Kid). Songs like The Great War, Would've, Could've, Should've and Bigger Than the Whole Sky are stunning works.
Midnights is one of my favourites. It’s very mature and I think it’s showing that Taylor herself is maturing and isn’t writing songs to go viral, but writing songs that tell actually stories and make you feel the emotions she’s feeling as she’s writing that song. (Also who tf let ice spice collab with her 😭)
Favorite songs, you may ask? - Maroon (it's the best!) - YOYOK (it really hits ya know) - Midnight Rain (It's a BANGERR) - Question...? (It's a vibeeee) - Labyrinth (it really makes you think deeper) - The Great War (such a good song, ngl) - Bigger than the Whole Sky (when you're broken, you know how heartbreaking this is) - Paris (A BOOPPP) - Glitch (very vibe-y and lofi-ish, love it!) - Dear Reader (THE PERFECT ALBUM ENDER, HANDS DOWN) - Hits Different (it gives BARBIE Y2K vibes) I really hope you will be able to see her on tour though. I'm manifesting that for ya, bro. 🤞🏻🙏🏻
Midnights is not super up there for me, but I love how there's SO much backstory to it. She kept unfolding a new aspect of it every time until people finally realized that it's a bittersweet breakup album.
I also wasn't THAT big of a fan for it. But after her "You're Losing Me" in the late night edition.... Everything flipped over. Midnights truly is a breaking up album. The way the story lines FLIPPED after the Joe Alwyn break up and the release of "You're Losing Me" is just so amazing to me. It's just so new to me.
one of my favorite memories was connected to midnights. i stayed up and it’s my first time staying up because i was just to young to care for the others. my dad came into my room at mignight and we listened to it together
i understand why some people are tired of jack antonoff's production... but couldn't be me! i need even MORE synths thank you! my personal top 5 is: 1. dear reader (WAYYYYYY too underrated) 2. lavender haze 3. karma 4. anti-hero 5. paris
You’re on your own kid is a 10/10 from me because it was the first song by her that felt like she was actually singing to me about my life. it perfectly describes and sums up my feelings & experiences from the past few years
At first when I started trying to sum up which albums from Taylor I liked more, I didn't really think too much of Midnights, I thought it was ok. But growing on it more, oh my god I felt so wrong lmao. This album was honestly perfect and I loved the production, meanings and overall idea of the whole album! I also loved ur interpretation on the midnights album vs midnights 3 am - it makes total sense! And then, I feel like the till dawn version was more of an excuse for remixes - but I think 2 songs from it are truly expressing what this version is, which are hits different, and you're losing me. (which is a vault song but GOD I WISHED IT WASNT) I feel like it's truly a "final reflection" stage before the "dawn rises again" and when you dig deep into those 2 songs, they honestly hit too hard so I feel like it makes sense ? Oh my days I wrote a whole grammarly essay on this lmao I'm sorry. 💓
You're On Your Own Kid and Labyrinth are my top songs, and I'm excited to hear your praise for them too! YOYOK feels like a gut punch and absolutely has made me cry but also feel hopeful? Idk very moving nonetheless! I also wasn't a fan of Karma when I first heard it, and it still isn't really my sound, but I think it's compelling how she plays with the idea of karma. Lines like "karmas a relaxing thought" and "karma is the breeze in my hair on the weekend", make me think of the flip side of karma... that if you do good, karma will return that good. I thought it was a interesting way to frame it that made me appreciate the song more. Anyways, keep up the good work with the channel! Love these videos.
i’m loving the labyrinth, paris, and glitch appreciation!!! also maroon fucking SLAPS - i was at fridays show and hearing it live was AMAZING, despite the fact that it wasn’t w full production bc it was the surprise song. even the songs on the album that can be kinda meh still are so great. dare i say it’s a skipless album 🫢
Midnights will always have a special place in my heart, because it is the album that made me a Swiftie and it has so many good songs🫶 My top 5 are: YOYOK, Karma, The Great War, Would’ve Could’ve Should’ve and Hits different (but basically I like every song on Midnights)
hello! midnights is one of those albums that gets much better months later because now we know it's more than her relishing the past, it's a breaking-up album. Taylor Swift is so smart that even the name of the album was hinting at their breakup. Midnights. The name is supposed to symbolize her sleepless nights, and sure, that makes sense, but I think it has a double meaning. What is the last track's title on Lover?? Daylight. Daylight is a song where she talks about Joe and compares loving him to daylight. What is the opposite of daylight? Midnight. Midnight goes through all the emotions from when you know your six-year relationship is about to end. Songs like Sweet Nothing, Labyrinth, and Paris, show that a six-year relationship doesn't crash and burn. It tells us that Taylor was holding on to those good days. However, in songs like lavender haze, maroon, bejeweled, midnight rain, etc., Taylor told us that she and Joe have grown apart, and gave hints as to why their relationship ended. I could rant on and on about how this album is a masterpiece. It's perfect at being vague until Taylor doesn't want it to be. My favorite song off of it though, for other reasons than being mastermind coded, is probably would've, could've, should've. I believe this song was truly written at 3am. It shows that past trauma still consumes you even a decade or more later. I also love the fact that she wrote it at the age John was when he groomed her. Now it's even more clear to her that he was in the wrong because she would never date a 19-year-old. but yeah in conclusion I love this album for many reasons. In my opinion, It is the mature-ish version of red. anyways yea I love watching u become a swiftie it may be one of my fav past times
Definitely agree on the production. The Lavender haze intro is insane and I'm glad that I can see this new production on multiple songs (labyrinth etc.) The low pitched voice give me everytime goosebumps. Anyways, it's 2 am rn for me, I'm going to listen to Midnights 😂
Hope these can help you know more about this album: 1. Lavender Haze It's about people paying more attention to her relationship than to how she sees her relationship, people constantly asking if she's going to get married, but never caring about what she wants, and she just wants to stay in the Lavender Haze. 2. Maroon You basically got it right. This song can be said to be a continuation of the previous work "Red". This feeling is like red wine spilled on white clothes. It was red at first, and as time went on, the red color of the wine gradually darkened and turned maroon. 3. Anti-Hero It's a song about the self, about feelings of inferiority, body anxiety, nightmares and ambivalence, and sleepless nights. 4. You on your own, kid It'sabout some of Taylor's own growing up experience and insight 5. Midnight Rain It's about being in love with someone who is so different from you in personality and other ways. 6. Labrinth In the chorus, the first sentence means you doubt you're in love, the second means you can't believe you're really in love, and the third means you're sure you're in love. 7. Karma Taylor always believes that good comes with good, and evil comes with evil. She thinks that she can have a boyfriend who loves her and God has been caring for her, all because her kindness and justice. Karma does not necessarily mean bad things, sometimes it refers to return.
The more I listen to this album the more I love it! Like I didn't like you're on your own kid at first, but now I love it! And lavender haze gets better every time! I honestly feel like labyrinth and snow on the beach don't get enough love, bc like they're so good!
I loved the way you articulated your view on the songs and the album overall, hope taylor doesn't stop making art pieces like this so we can all enjoy it and discuss aspects of it

Midnights might actually be my favorite of her albums which is kinda wild bc I was hating on it when it came out but lavender haze is a banger and you’re on your own kid is one of the best songs I’ve ever heard.

karma is similar to "blank space" in the way that it's like her commentating on herself - it's a very unserious song about karma, since that's something a lot of her career has been based around. it's not meant to be taken seriously: the writing "karma is a cat/purring in my lap, etc" is supposed to her joking about how much her writing has talked about karma previously, if that makes sense. i suggest watching swiftologists video on this, bc it talks about it more

Honestly this is proof that u can turn in to a Lana Del Rey fan and anyone can so Jason u can too. Giive her a chance. But Jason if u are reading thia pls doooo a vid about all her album. I really wnat to see this dude (in this case u Jason) do what your doing with Taylor and do it with Lana......
BUT HAVE YOU HEARD “You’re Losing Me” !?!?!? 😭 the only Midnights “from the vault” track? It came out with those other songs yeaterday but is only available on the CD’s given out at the shows this weekend. Someone put it on twitter for everyone to hear and it BROKE me 😭 everyone’s speculating it to be the Taylor & Joe break up song, and i wanted to know what you thought of it!
maroon after the break up sounds about that couple who lost their way after some time just my theory and she talks about hallway in your lossing me and uk same hallway as in maroon and hits different... i literally listened to yoyok before my most imp exam of my life 'You're on your own, kid / Yeah, you can face this' made me feel like i could do anything another level of goat ..and omg your losing me is just so heartbreaking evn tho idc much abt their relationship it felt really heartbreaking after listing to this song great war makes sense my thoughts on some songs :- 1)lavender haze -->is kinda actually sad cause uk it got rough in the relation and she just want to be in the love haze 2)maroon -->my 2nd fav too ' rust that grew between telephone' uk made me think of her recent break up 3)sweet nothing --> at first i though its grt love song but thn i saw a insta post where it said that they're just ignoring all other prblms and just hanging on wcs-->fucking masterpiece my top 5..yoyok,wcs,maroon,mastermind,hits different or labyrinth

Another great video! I love how all/most of these songs have a dramatic beat drop and it just really gets you going. I think this album is a vibe, not all the same vibe, but it’s a vibe. I would rate this album a 8 and here is my top five! (3 am edition) also this is not in any order bc that’s too hard to do so Your on your own kid Mastermind The Great War Midnight rain Hits different
The only way you could have known about the till dawn edition and recorded this video is if you recorded and edited this video in less than 24 hours and you're moving. I'm sorry but GIVE THIS MAN A FUCKING AWARD. i don't know how you do it. i just hope when i start my channel, I'm as dedicated as you. Still rooting for you to go to the Era's tour. (also started getting into your other content apart from T. Swift, and its kinda good)
8:00 introvertedmadness made a video about midnights and how the best way to describe it is just “vibes” which I Totally agreed with and this part made me think of that haha
YOYOK is my favorite too, has been from the jump. I feel like it does for nostalgia what The Man tried to do for gender politics-its message seeps into your skin with subtlety yet precision. It's essentially a retelling of her entire life in 3 cutting minutes: from pining after high school boys to trying to stand out amongst a million other girls who wanted to be famous in Nashville , to having Hollywood chew her up and spit her out, to emerging triumphant :)
First. Dude if you thought the midnights deluxe version was good you should hear the deluxe version of vices and virtues (from panic at the Disco) also the only songs we heard from midnight where antihero and karma.
I like the 3am tracks the more I listen to them but I’ve only heard The Great War like twice because I find the production to be weirdly boring. I know a lot of people like it but it’s quite literally the only song on the album that’s difficult for me to not skip. If you’re gonna make me sit through a 4 minute song at least make it slap idk lol But yeah if I’m gonna listen to the album I’ll usually just listen to the standard edition because altho I like the idea of them having a different sound I think the deluxe tracks are where the cohesion of the album ends which I’m not really a fan of when I’m listening to a body of work
@@jasonpaulkim probably cuz her and joe allegedly broke up. Paris is clearly a love song and glitch ironically is too. They’re both supposedly abt joe, maybe this retcon turns Midnights into a breakup album?
I love you’re honesty about what you thought about the songs but it’s too bad that you missed out on adding “you’re losing me” and the karma mv bc you’re losing me is by far one of the saddest songs she’s written in her career. I would’ve loved to see a swiftie writers workshop on it. Loved the vid hope you get to go to the eras your soon!!
it's so interesting to see how your thoughts on midnights have evolved! what do you think of snow on the beach ft. more lana del rey? it's so much better than the og imo

Karma doesn't take itself too seriously, and that's what I LOVE about it. It is corny, but unapologetically so.
fair enough lol
Karma is what is referred to as a "Glitter Pen Pop Song" by Taylor herself- it's meant to be fun and catchy, but not have much real substance. And the cat line is a reference to her cats who have been part of the fandom since she first got Meredith. (But I will admit I laughed out loud when I first heard it because it is just so unserious)
yea i honestly get y people like it it's funny but i'm just not into it personally lol
Karma is also the best off of Midnights, and MV is also the best of the era
Glitter gel pen
Karma having this lyric makes an instant banger imo.
“Karma’s a relaxing thought, aren’t you envious that for you it’s not”
That’s just too good

Don’t forget "And I keep my side of the street clean, you wouldn’t know what I mean"

CONAN GRAY IS SUCH A GOOD ARTIST YOU SHOULD REVIEW HIS SONGS!!
Hope these can help you know more about this album:
1. Lavender Haze
It's about people paying more attention to her relationship than to how she sees her relationship, people constantly asking if she's going to get married, but never caring about what she wants, and she just wants to stay in the Lavender Haze.
2. Maroon
You basically got it right. This song can be said to be a continuation of the previous work "Red". This feeling is like red wine spilled on white clothes. It was red at first, and as time went on, the red color of the wine gradually darkened and turned maroon.

4. You on your own, kid
It'sabout some of Taylor's own growing up experience and insight
5. Midnight Rain
It's about being in love with someone who is so different from you in personality and other ways.
6. Labrinth
In the chorus, the first sentence means you doubt you're in love, the second means you can't believe you're really in love, and the third means you're sure you're in love.
7. Karma
Taylor always believes that good comes with good, and evil comes with evil. She thinks that she can have a boyfriend who loves her and God has been caring for her, all because her kindness and justice. Karma does not necessarily mean bad things, sometimes it refers to return.

i watched one of your first vids and fell in love with your style of video. i have grown up a swiftie since i was pretty much 5 years old and seeing a newcomer’s perspective on her music is very interesting. i love your content and keep up the great work!!
thank u!!! i'm so glad u like my vids :))
fun fact; in case you didn’t know, question is actually sampled from out of the woods, because of the “i remember” at the beginning
oh shoot did not know tht lol
You keep predicting stuff 😂😂😂
And i love that you included his reaction 8:19
His reaction to Maroon is also iconic
Honestly this is proof that u can turn in to a Lana Del Rey fan and anyone can so Jason u can too. Giive her a chance.
But Jason if u are reading thia pls doooo a vid about all her album. I really wnat to see this dude (in this case u Jason) do what your doing with Taylor and do it with Lana......
😏 soon
BUT HAVE YOU HEARD “You’re Losing Me” !?!?!? 😭 the only Midnights “from the vault” track?
It came out with those other songs yeaterday but is only available on the CD’s given out at the shows this weekend. Someone put it on twitter for everyone to hear and it BROKE me 😭 everyone’s speculating it to be the Taylor & Joe break up song, and i wanted to know what you thought of it!
oh yea i heard abt it will have to check it out lol
SUPERACHE IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOOD
REVIEW CONAN GRAYS NEW SONG AND THE ALBUM SUPERACHE
maroon after the break up sounds about that couple who lost their way after some time just my theory and she talks about hallway in your lossing me and uk same hallway as in maroon and hits different... i literally listened to yoyok before my most imp exam of my life 'You're on your own, kid / Yeah, you can face this' made me feel like i could do anything another level of goat ..and omg your losing me is just so heartbreaking evn tho idc much abt their relationship it felt really heartbreaking after listing to this song great war makes sense
my thoughts on some songs :-
1)lavender haze -->is kinda actually sad cause uk it got rough in the relation and she just want to be in the love haze
2)maroon -->my 2nd fav too ' rust that grew between telephone' uk made me think of her recent break up
3)sweet nothing --> at first i though its grt love song but thn i saw a insta post where it said that they're just ignoring all other prblms and just hanging on
wcs-->fucking masterpiece
my top 5..yoyok,wcs,maroon,mastermind,hits different or labyrinth
respect it all!
my top 5 midnights tracks (standard):
1. question...?

2. hits different
3. you're losing me (ik it only came out today but it's easily one of my favs alr)

respect
Your outros are always my favorite parts of your videos
ty ty
u deserve so many more subs i’m actually addicted to ur channel now
haha thank u!
I love the color scheme on this video!!! The songs titles are *chef kiss* hehe... Great work Jason! 🌃
thank u thank u
Another great video! I love how all/most of these songs have a dramatic beat drop and it just really gets you going. I think this album is a vibe, not all the same vibe, but it’s a vibe. I would rate this album a 8 and here is my top five! (3 am edition) also this is not in any order bc that’s too hard to do so
Your on your own kid
Mastermind
The Great War
Midnight rain
Hits different
The only way you could have known about the till dawn edition and recorded this video is if you recorded and edited this video in less than 24 hours and you're moving. I'm sorry but GIVE THIS MAN A FUCKING AWARD. i don't know how you do it. i just hope when i start my channel, I'm as dedicated as you. Still rooting for you to go to the Era's tour. (also started getting into your other content apart from T. Swift, and its kinda good)
My top 5 gotta be:
1. You're on your own kid
2. You're losing me
3. Maroon
4. Paris
5. Hits different
i respect it
love this series!
ty :)
As pretty much always, your take is dead on. IMO. I personally love Mastermind, but the whole album is just her best yet. Hope you make the tour.
thank u :))
8:00 introvertedmadness made a video about midnights and how the best way to describe it is just “vibes” which I Totally agreed with and this part made me think of that haha
lol i see tht
YOYOK is my favorite too, has been from the jump. I feel like it does for nostalgia what The Man tried to do for gender politics-its message seeps into your skin with subtlety yet precision. It's essentially a retelling of her entire life in 3 cutting minutes: from pining after high school boys to trying to stand out amongst a million other girls who wanted to be famous in Nashville , to having Hollywood chew her up and spit her out, to emerging triumphant :)
very well said!!
The quality of this video was FABULOUS as always, bro so no worries 👏 But also, cutest moment 6:21
ty ty :)
6:00 Lana basically disappeared in this version fr
🥲
Hold on… did he just mention the queen ALLY SHEEHAN???
goat swiftie youtuber
First. Dude if you thought the midnights deluxe version was good you should hear the deluxe version of vices and virtues (from panic at the Disco) also the only songs we heard from midnight where antihero and karma.
Loving this series❤
thank u :)
Weirdly enough, listening at midnight does make a difference 😅
ikr it's crazy
The editing for these videos is so superb. Just like midnights
thank u :)))
I like the 3am tracks the more I listen to them but I’ve only heard The Great War like twice because I find the production to be weirdly boring. I know a lot of people like it but it’s quite literally the only song on the album that’s difficult for me to not skip. If you’re gonna make me sit through a 4 minute song at least make it slap idk lol
But yeah if I’m gonna listen to the album I’ll usually just listen to the standard edition because altho I like the idea of them having a different sound I think the deluxe tracks are where the cohesion of the album ends which I’m not really a fan of when I’m listening to a body of work
PLEASEEEEE do lana del rey!! maybe like her nfr or ultraviolence album, it would be so interesting to see your takes and opinions!!
The line "karma is a cat" is a play on words with an actual saying "karma is a bitch" aka dog, so taylor swiftified it and made it "karma is a cat"
still not a fan lol
ROAD TO 10K GUYS LETS DO THIS
also midnights is great, but the 3am tracks make it 10 times better 👍
totally agree and yayyyy!!!
maroon is about Harry Styles .
Karma is a cat is a word play on the phrase "KARMA IS A BITCH"
Awesome video and Awesome dude AND THE OUTROS ❤
makes sense lol
and ty :)
PLEASE DO CONAN GRAY HE HAS SUCH GOOD SONGWRITING AND MUSIC
even if he’s “not a swiftie” i lowkey love that jason watches ally sheehan
she makes good shit lol
@@jasonpaulkim fully agree!! (btw you seem like a really chill guy, thanks for making cool content :)
Whenever Jason posts something on TS, homegirl is ready to release new music and change his plans. The true mastermind
frrrrr
CONAN GRAY NEXT HIS SONGS ARE A BOP
Good luck on unpacking and getting tickets! My favorite song on Midnights is probably between high infidelity or maroon :)
thank u!! and i respect it :)
@@jasonpaulkim 💜
As soon as you made your speak now video SNTV was announced and now Midnights Til Dawn Edition??

@@jasonpaulkim maybe if you become a fortune teller you can make enough to get eras tickets :O
The same day u covered this a new mv for midnights is being announced just like speak now

CONAN NEXT HE RECENTLY CAME OUT WITH A NEW SONG!!!
congrats jason!! #roadto10k "it's a banger!" 💯
lmaoo thank u
DO A REVIEW ON CONAN GRAYS ALBUM SUPERACHE
OKAY BUT THE MUSIC VIDEO OF KARMA!!!!!😭
just bought taylor merch and then this video notif popped up?? perfect timing
lmaoo
CONAN GRAY
Saying the karma remix is better than karma is actually wild …….
🫣
Btw the Late Night Edition not only includes You’re Losing Me but also removes the songs Paris & Glitch…
why? lol
@@jasonpaulkim probably cuz her and joe allegedly broke up. Paris is clearly a love song and glitch ironically is too. They’re both supposedly abt joe, maybe this retcon turns Midnights into a breakup album?
conan gray next???
your hthaze and tick tick boom references omg taste we could be besties hehe
lmao
I love you’re honesty about what you thought about the songs but it’s too bad that you missed out on adding “you’re losing me” and the karma mv bc you’re losing me is by far one of the saddest songs she’s written in her career. I would’ve loved to see a swiftie writers workshop on it. Loved the vid hope you get to go to the eras your soon!!
it's so interesting to see how your thoughts on midnights have evolved! what do you think of snow on the beach ft. more lana del rey? it's so much better than the og imo
i def like it more lol
Aww congrats on becoming a swifte!!!🫶🫶🫶
whaaaaa me??????
WHEN DOES YOUR VIDEO ABOUT CONAN GRAY COME OUT? ❤❤
mmm eventually i promise lol
ALLY SHEEHAN AND HTHAZE REFERENCE YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS 3:37 8:17
