      My tolerance is such, I definitely want something more. For cooking, I am pretty much immune to the Reaper. I ate a Reaper on camera today, just to prove to someone my tolerance (just a little lower than Johnny's). Often times, though, the Reaper disappoints and isn't any hotter than a Ghost... so I hope Pepper X delivers.

    That looks uncannily similar to the Apocalypse Scorpion. I grew a few shrubs of those 2 years ago. Hands down, hotter than the Carolina Reepers I also grew those same years. They were creepers, and felt like blow torches straight into the mouth at peak intensity.
    Flavor profile was also magnificent, though I preferred the buttery smoothness of the Reeper.

    • @peterjohnson9291
      @peterjohnson9291 Год назад

      You can't have a very good flavour profile with a chilli that is that hot. it's not possible. Most chillies over 1M SHU have little flavour profile.

    • @TonyGingrich
      @TonyGingrich Год назад

      @peterjohnson9291 Dude, you could not possibly be more incorrect. Have you actually tried any? Many people disagree with me on the Reaper, but it is my personal favorite of all... milds and supers altogether.
      Apocalypse Scorpion is identical flavor. Much hotter than the Reaper, but a little drier. The flavor doesn't adhere to the mouth and persist for very long.
      My 3rd favorite is the Death Spiral. Delicious when ripe, but I think it tastes slightly better before it turns completely red. Somewhere in the light orange stage is just perfect.

    • @TonyGingrich
      @TonyGingrich Год назад

      Of the milds, I think Cayennes are my number 1. All of them. Hibanero second, and Tabasco third.

      If memory serves me correctly, Pepper X hits 3.1 million Scovilles.

    • @enochthewitness-2023
      @enochthewitness-2023 Год назад +3

      @@ericstites9470 its a myth not a reality. i reasearched into it. its never been officially recognized. from what ive found, only the inner skin rated 3 million whilst the rest of the pepper was more standard level. This is actually how ALL peppers work. If you measured the scoville of just the hottest part inside the pepper you will find that all hot peppers can about double their scoville level in this part of the pepper. The Trinidad Scorpion is the hottest natural pepper with between 1.5 and 2.5 million scov units, and the Carolina Reaper is basically just a variant hybrid of the scorpion - hence the identical look.

    • @ericstites9470
      @ericstites9470 Год назад

      @@enochthewitness-2023 ahhh, I see. I do remember some controversy over the Carolina Reaper being labeled the hottest in the world - like only one particular specimen was that hot, and most of them are about the same as the Trinidad Scorpion... which is more consistently hot.
