I watched the harrowing gut-wrenching videos of this tragedy and the videos from a month ago in the Sargodha tragedy where Nazir Masih - an elderly Christian man in his 70s was beaten to death by a fanatic extremist mob. My family moved to Canada when I was four. Incidents such as these make me think twice about going to Pakistan. It’s not that tragedies can’t happen in a country. It’s the fact that law enforcement, provincial governments, and the federal government have once again showed their apathy and ineptitude in stopping tragedies such as this from happening. We must change as Pakistani’s. Kudos to Mr. Rahman for speaking up. He challenges extremism with courage, levelheadedness, rationality, and practicality. We must all learn and follow his lead in this regard, regardless of which way we lean politically.

We need to do just one thing: build trust and follow the law on these matters. No one has been punished for these crimes because the state listens to their masters and the case disappears. Being an Indian Muslim it makes me optimistic seeing that both the conservatives and secular people of Pakistan are condemning the horrific incident. By contrast, in the last two weeks alone in India there has been 3 lynchings of Muslim men and 11 houses demolished in beef related incidents with little condemnation from the seculars and more cheering from the conservatives which is available as proofs in open in the social media comments. All I can hope for is a stronger Pakistan which can advocate for safety of India Muslims.

If you have you should share it, secondly when the state can't punish these blasphemy the mass will do what they have done in swat . Friday sermons, design and location of mosques etc. While in Pakistan, Islam is the most unregulated thing. Each neighborhood has 3-5 mosques. Anyone can spew anything in Friday sermons. One cleric is openly takfiring the other. Pakistan must regulate Islam in order to become an Islamic state. We should make a council of Ulemas that represent all the sects present in Pakistan (Barelavis, Deobandis, Ahl e Hadith, Shias) and this council should be tasked to draft a set of rules and regulations that everyone can agree upon. Only then will we be able to achieve a progressive Islamic state.

That's why I believe that an Islamic council responsible for drafting the rules and regulations or a framework for the government should have scholars from all the sects so that they could identify things that they all agree on and find common grounds to establish rules that everyone can agree to. Im agree to u till when you said that the problem should study and finish from the roots , but after this did you have any proof of the statement you share against a political party? If you have you should share it, secondly when the state can't punish these blasphemy the mass will do what they have done in swat . My approach to the problem is the government should make a law for blasphemy and act on it. ( Zia ul haq made a law, but these laws are act less)

I understand the diverse counter-narratives of various individuals, but my knowledge leads me to believe that the resolution to such issues lies solely in the enactment of Islamic laws and regulations. For instance, in Saudi Arabia, the absence of secularism coincides with peace, which, I believe, is due to the authentic application of Islamic laws.
In an Islamic state, Islam is the most regulated thing. In countries like KSA and UAE, everything related to Islam is heavily regulated by the government. Friday sermons, design and location of mosques etc. While in Pakistan, Islam is the most unregulated thing. Each neighborhood has 3-5 mosques. Anyone can spew anything in Friday sermons. One cleric is openly takfiring the other. Pakistan must regulate Islam in order to become an Islamic state.
We should make a council of Ulemas that represent all the sects present in Pakistan (Barelavis, Deobandis, Ahl e Hadith, Shias) and this council should be tasked to draft a set of rules and regulations that everyone can agree upon. Only then will we be able to achieve a progressive Islamic state.
@@KabirAhmed-be8qv Yes, off course the government needs to implement laws, and for Islamic laws I will suggest only one person who can tackle all the sectarian issues very well, his name is Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza. The government needs to protect him and do not play hypocritic role in implementing Islamic laws.
@@muhammadasifkhan4918 Well, that's a problem. Only giving one person the right to decide the Islamic rules is unfair to those who disagree with Engineer Mirza. It may seem that Engineer Mirza is non-sectarian but in a few years his following will also turn out to be just another sect. Probably people will start calling them Jhelumis like Barelvis and Deobandis. That's why I believe that an Islamic council responsible for drafting the rules and regulations or a framework for the government should have scholars from all the sects so that they could identify things that they all agree on and find common grounds to establish rules that everyone can agree to. We can include Engineer Mirza in the council as well but saying he's the only right person is biased.
