I’m living vicariously through your first reading. Your theories are really good and you pick up on details I glossed over my first time. Keep this series up!
There is a lot of risk involved for Kaladin in not revealing Moash, but Kaladin rarely cares for the risk to himself over his sense of morality. And he is caught in between his duty to Dalinar and his orders and his duty to Bridge 4 and Moash as one of his close friends. It’s the same scenario as when a family member of a policeman commits a heinous crime and the policemam finds out before his colleagues. What does he do?
The only one of the trophies you mentioned that you know about are the thick "hairpins." Hint, they aren't hairpins. That's just what Shallan thinks they look like. They are way thicker than you'd think from that description.
@@alphaomegagiant not necessarily, they can be any size. Remember how small the one probably most vital to the story was. Unless it's specifically stated where they are from.
The truth of who killed Shallan's mother, father, oldest brother, and where she got the shardblade is so much better than you will ever guess, but you have 2 more books to get through before you find out all of it.
It's good to see from the other comments that you picked up on Hoid in the flashback. Those scenes remind me of his time telling stories in Warbreaker but Wit is so prominent a character in this series compared to his 'cameos'
I would suggest you don't forget worldhoppers are a thing when you go around thinking everyone's a herald haha I'd like to offer comments elsewhere but I'm in so deep that I don't even know what sort of spoilers I'd risk by saying anything.
I feel like you should be able to work out who man Shallan met was based on his manerisems, but maybe that is easy for me to say, already knowing 😅 it is definitely someone you know
@@shughes5778 not really 🙈. A sense of humor would lead to Hoid in my opinion, who has been mentioned in other comments below as well. I am looking for another character that I heard makes an appearance, but I did not identify them yet. But it might be later in the story that they appear.
@@Cosmikaze don't want to spoil anything here. I was blown away, hearing it, but did not yet find the clues that others used to figure it out. Probably book 3 then. Maybe Connor will see it, before I do.

No, they're right. Chapter 70 of WoK, Shallan tells her first lie/truth to Pattern (not yet named) in order to enter Shadesmar and convince Jasnah she's legit. The truth she shares is "I killed my father."
I'd be careful about using the epigraphs (what you call headnotes) from part 3 to craft theories, as they are written in a deliberately dense and scholarly voice that is inherently incomprehensible to first-time readers. I will say that the epigraph from ch 41 is a direct continuation to the epigraph from ch 40, so its specifically talking about the Recreance, AKA the betrayal of the Knights, not the betrayal of the Heralds.

Dude it is super interesting hearing you pull apart Shallans backstory as you get new info lol, it's fascinating. End of the book is gonna be insane
I am so much looking forward to your reaction when Shallan will find out about Amaram. Pretty important for Kaladin, too.

If you replace herald with worldhopper, he's dead on in every case.

Oh my! You don’t know who hoid is!
He’s a little bit older than a herald lol. Just by a little bit 😂

Shallan killing her father is mentioned near the end of book one. It is a truth she tells Pattern.
You’re off by a book, so this is an accidental spoiler. She has not really met Pattern at the end of book 1. Might wanna delete that comment.
