Responding to stuff is KEY as a parent!! My parents FREAKED out whenever something bad happened, and would also yell at me for it. It's left me with such anxiety and took years as an adult in therapy to get over it.
I'm sorry to hear that, Steph. It's important not to blame them as they are trying their best from their conditioning from their parent's. The fact that you know and you're seeking help about it are all massive steps! Keep working on your mental health, meditate and remind yourself often that everything is going to be ok. X
Just came here after watching the birth! First of all, CONGRATS!! I thought the perspective on the fact that kids live in tomorrow is so beautiful, it was such a nice thought. In a couple of years I want to start having children, but I have only ever been excited about the younger stages - such as infant, toddler etc. But hearing your guys' thoughts on kids growing up and keeping you informed and modern was honestly soooooo refreshing!! Growing up is a beautiful thing and every age group will have its advantages and downsides. Enjoy him while he's little ;)))
I absolutely appreciate how much you understand (as much as you can) what women go through physically, mentally and emotionally when bringing a life into this world. It’s different for everyone, no two experiences are the same, even with each pregnancy it’s not the same. Support, listen and get involved (as much as you can). Not everyone out there empathizes the way that you seem to. Very refreshing and amazing. I’m a mom to two wonderful boys and this is how I want them to be with their future partners. Teaching them and having open conversations about what others go through without having to go through it yourself is how we create a better relationship with ourselves and with the world.

I noticed that at multiple points throughout the video you talked about how it was so important to stay calm and be that pillar of strength and peace for your family, but just know that it’s perfectly fine to feel stressed and overwhelmed every now and then, you’re only human! Don’t put too much pressure on yourself, it’s clear to all that you’re a great dad 😊

Congratulations! Ahh, the postpartum anxiety is awful. It’s so interesting that there are actual physical changes to the mothers brain during this time. Mama bear is awakening. I didn’t sleep for 6 months at all because I had to keep checking if my son was still breathing. Probably should have gone to therapy to help deal with that at the time but didn’t have the support I needed to feel taken seriously or understood. It’s great you bring it up and I hope it settles fast for you.
my kids are 5 and 2 now but you and Jen remind me of that exciting thrilling and exauhsting phase of being parents for the first time and aaaah all I could say is time will fly so fast live every feeling and moment🌸
I remember bringing my daughter home and looking at her realizing WOW this tiny human is reliant upon me for everything. Beautifully terrifying. Congratulations you two are going to be amazing parents.
It takes time to adjust to being parents for the first time . I remember the anxiety over my first born son worried over is he still breathing too think most mothers go through that one , by the time I had my daughter 22 months later I was far more relaxed and as a result so was she , so Ben is right the baby does pick up on stress levels . Your doing an amazing xxx

I’m a nursing students doing labor and delivery rotations right now. Sometimes babies will forget to breathe while they’re eating! It’s normal. When it happens you can take out the nipple and try again. They get so hungry that they suck and suck but forget to breathe. Just make sure baby is sucking, swallowing, and breathing when feeding. Good luck guys ❤️
Congrats to you both! I work in a typical corporate job in Australia and it just made me realise the typical 2 weeks parental leave fathers take is nothing! We're trying to encourage more men to take up longer parental leave and it's really nice to see that you, as a man, can support Jenn in this journey (day and night, not just after work)!
