The Everyday Qantas card is a perfect companion card to the Amex ultimate card as you can use it in those scenarios where Amex isn't accepted and it's super low annual fee makes it worthwhile in a such a case if you don't want another high fee card.
We had the AMEX Card for about 2 years, however more and more businesses no longer except AMEX or charge a very high surcharge fee. We move to the NAB card and have generally been happy.
I have the Platinum card from them and was wondering if the annual fee is waived (currently $149) if you're premier? I know their Premier Mastercard doesn't have any annual fees
Great video! Maybe American Express changed it in the last 11 days but the sign up bonus for the Qantas American Express Utlimate card is 60,000 not 100,000 now
Missed the Amex Discovery Qantas Card. Great as there is no annual fee, so good option post having an Ultimate and want to keep an Amex open, but doesn’t want to pay an annual fee.
This is a great card with 0.75 Qantas Points spent per dollar. There is no cap/limit on this rate unlike many other cards. The lack of annual fee is great. I wonder why Ramond didnt consider this card?
Awesome video! just FYI the ANZ FF black card sign up bonus was changed to 90k Qantas points on the first year , 40k in the 2nd and only $200 cash back. What are your thoughts on that? would that bump it down a tier ?
Ahh that’s a shame, the sign up bonus for the ANZ seems to be getting slightly worse over time. Probably makes it comparable to the Westpac and NAB cards now
This video is such an awesome breakdown! I wish I had this info a year ago lol 😂 I had to do all the reading and research by myself but I got there in the end choosing the Amex one which I’m soo glad I did every single day
Great video! One reason I went with NAB is that they didn’t charge for an extra physical card. Some providers are charging a lot for multiple cards bringing the annual fee up considerably!
The bankwest card actually gives you 40k after you hit the minimum spend and another 10k after you have it for 15 months. So you dont actually have to wait 15 months for the sign up bonus. Only if you want the full bonus like the nab westpac etc
What card would you recommend with Bonus points and no international fees ( that i could use while travelling overseas) with a relatively low annual fee
2% cashback is probably better in most cases, but people want Qantas points so they can fly business or first class for a lot cheaper than paying cash. The value of points redeemed on certain flights (vs paying wholly in cash) can be worth way more than 2% cashback. From a purely spend less money perspective the cashback is way better.
The NAB card was the only one I wanted to see where you put it on the graph and you forgot to add it there… you talked about it but then didn’t say which category you’d slot it into.
Great review but fyi it ignores the HSBC credit cards. In the first year the Platinum one has no annual fee and 1.5 points earned per dollar up to $120k and 1 point per dollar on the next $120k.
I've recently been looking at a card to acquire Qantas points my question is which one would be good for say a business card for example if i pay for fba ads or any other payments for my business great video btw
Another great video. I’m learning so much. Thank you. …I haven’t had an American Express Card in over a decade BUT when I did, every purchase incurred an Amex surcharge. Is it still just as bad and do you take this extra cost into how you review Amex rewards cards? You never seem to mention it but I think it’s a significant decider regarding value. What are your thoughts on the subject?
That’s what put me off the Amex option too, plus some retailers just don’t accept Amex at all. I ended up getting the Qantas premier platinum (before I saw this video) so oops. Oh well. I also read some reviews that the $450 travel credit is not as good as it seems, because you have to book through the Amex travel website and prices on the Amex travel website can be higher than if you book through Webjet or directly with the airline. I can’t remember the exact prices but I read something on Reddit maybe where the person said to book it through Amex the flight was a few hundred $$ more than if they booked directly with the airline, so it wasn’t as good value as it originally seemed.
@@Happydog2123 it’s ok so far got the bonus points for sign up basically as soon as the statement period ended. So far I’m up to about 110k points, 80k from the sign up bonus and then quite a few from the woolies everyday rewards as well, plus I booked some hotels that had bonus points too.
@@7astarael Yes agree. I find that a lot of retailers don't like American express because of charges so I make sure I have a visa card also. Last year I booked a flight through Amex and the flights were higher than if I booked through the airline but when the final amount with the $450 discount was better than not having a discount. The customer service from Amex has been amazing, especially in the testing times of COVID. By the way thank you so much for your great videos, so informative. Keep us in the loop :)
But you have to book the flights thru the american expresss site etc. im wondering if the prices are just inflated theough those sites anyway , negating most of youre benefit
It definitely can be inflated but not always the case. Personally, have the Explorer Credit card so I have $400 in travel credit that I need to redeem. For my Europe trip last year, I redeemed that credit for accommodation in Rome, which for the hotel we booked ended up being on par with prices that we saw on sites like Agoda, Booking, and Trip. Compare the flight prices directly with the airlines to ensure you get a good deal when redeeming your credit.
Have the Ultimate card myself and can say that for the the 3 trips I’ve booked there over the last three years, they cost the same to booking directly through Qantas. Did come across one potential booking where it cost about $30 more to book on Amex but it was rare. You do lose some benefits of booking direct such as free seat selection or free cancellation within 24 hours. But you get most of them back if you are a QFF.
You have mixed up the NAB and Westpac cards at 14.42 because it’s the NAB card that doesn’t offer lounge access, not Westpac. Also, the summary slide at 19.28 obscures half the cards making them difficult to identify. It would be best to show the full cards (or most of them). But thanks for making this video - it’s helpful despite the bugs.
Why don't you include the cost of the Qantas earning in the summaries. Can you please show a table in your next review with breaking down some important perks
Didn’t forget about that one, left it off intentionally as it doesn’t come with a sign up bonus at all. Honestly not a card worth considering at this point in time
Great videos, keep up the good work. Question: It wasn't sure for the Qantas American Express Ultimate Card if you were eligible for the Complimentary Travel Insurance if $450 Annual Qantas Travel Credit was used for the booking.
I need people's opinion here: I am looking for a creditcard that my partner and i can use. Simply buy groceries, fuel and daily expenses is what we wanna use this card for. Possibility paying our rent with this aswell? We dont fly that often but maybe that will change in the future. We wanna save up points, which one will be recommended?
Hey mate, if you're looking for a low annual fee card check out the Westpac Altitude Platinum Card. Otherwise I still think the American Express Qantas Ultimate / Explorer are great options. FYI - you can't pay for your rent with credit cards unfortunately.
@@raymondla thank you for your response. I will have a look into this. I really thought you could pay rent with a credit card. That would have been perfect..
Based on personal and family experience flying qantas business in the past 2 years, for the foreseeable future I will stay clear of qantas in general. You hardly get value for money in point conversion as well as inflight service offerings. I'm curious, I've had Westpac Altitude last year but has gotten rid of it, if I sign up for the Westpac Altitude Black, would I still get the bonus points or nah? Amazing videos BTW!

Hi! When you say Qantas lounge pass. Is this Business or first class lounge ? or is it an entirely different lounge pass to business and first? Im currently a long time westpac customer and I think it's either going to be the ANZ or the Westpac card. Just not sure which one!
CommBank Ultimate doesn’t even give a sign up bonus anymore, so frankly I don’t think it provides much value at all. My intent of the video was to focus on personal cards only as the of majority of people aren’t running their own businesses. I can look into doing a business card qantas video in the future though!
Thank you! I'm new in this australian credit cards. And my goals is to travel back to my country once a year, so it helps me a lot to decide. Thank you!

But I didn’t talk about the discovery card because it didn’t have a sign up bonus included. I’m not affiliated with any of the credit cards providers in this video. If I were I’d definitely disclose it!
You didn’t mention interest rates etc for each card, that’s a major factor. I saw one said over 20% interest on purchases! So basically paying an extra $200 for every $1000 spent…. Wouldn’t it be smarter to not use a credit card and then just put 20% of all your purchases into a savings account? Rather than spending $20,000 to get an equivalent of $200 in points … which would also be $4000 of interest alone…
Whilst I didn’t touch on the topic in this video, my recommendation is to always pay off your credit card bills in full each month. This way you aren’t incurring any interest on your payments. This would make the interest rates on these cards a moot point, which is why I didn’t talk about it.
Chasing points with real money to buy crap you don’t need. I just buy the cheapest flights with my own cash and it works out way cheaper than all these gimmicks.
You failed to fully analyse all Qantas cards,e.g. CBA Ultimate. Also, any real effort to analyse properly you could have designed a simple value added algorithm. Again, e.g., Reward points divided by annual fee charged even where the points are given after 15 months. Then added a value for benefits, insurance, zero international fees, lounges etc. some having a higher value. Not including the Amex Discovery card is a mistake with zero fee, .75 points and Westpac Qantas Platinum. You failed to consider income requirements and customer service too - all could have had an assigned value. Lot easier to get a card with income between $30-75k the national income being $50-60k than those requiring >$75. Your review was seriously flawed.

Lot easier to get a card with income between $30-75k the national income being $50-60k than those requiring >$75. Your review was seriously flawed.
That list is incomplete, therefore your rankings are shite
Do you expect a response from him with that attitude ?

Hey mate I'm always open to constructive feedback on how I can improve my videos. Let me know what you think could be improved on my end.
Do these credit cards give me access to Qantas frenquent flyer program for free?
Do I get my money for the annual fee back once I cancel the credit cards?
No, but you can call up the bank when you can cancel and ask for a pro-rata refund (not always guaranteed to work though)
Qantas is just a sht company, the brand has been flushed down the shitter.
I'm an Aussie saying that lol.
