Really love seeing how you are doing stuff that doesn't follow the traditional Japanese bonsai style. You just do what you think looks good. Very cool!
I love this tree, and it is another perfect choice Nigel. It has so much character and uniqueness. Perfection! The coarser moss on the bottom tray was the crowning touch! Lisa
The moment where you paused to think about what tool to use, then decided to use whatever you already had in your hand happens to me ALL THE TIME. I spent probably around 100 dollars buying bonsai tools, and the amount of times I use a chopstick, tweezers, or a fork or something similar always makes me second guess my purchases 😂
Are you going to let the roots grow over the edge of the pot and come down to the lower part? In the wild ficus grow like that down and over old temples.
Absolutely. Bonsai show arrangers shouldnt even allow it. Like wtf dude?? Looks like something he just picked up at a regular garden center and brought with him.
Yup. Dude should have some pots after doing this for 30 years. Coming with a plastic pot would look ridicilous. Then again he isnt the best bonsai ka out there. I know people that did this for a year or 2 that had much better trees. If he likes them himself i guess its cool
Best of luck at the Show and Sale today, brother. I’m sure you’ll have a blast. Between your videos, Xin and BlueJay, I’m sure we will see nearly the entire event. I do have one follow up question for you, brother. Who is Mike? And why do you like him?😉
I previously already joined the cheering crowd as it been a great mini-series so much to learn for the preparations before a show. I will probably never do it myself but in my experience I haven't seen many videos on this topic. I think the bonsai community really appreciate all your sharing of knowledge and inspiration and maybe push more to dare to display their bonsai.
Wicked Nigel! Actually just saw a picture of this tree on Facebook group in the show! So perfect!
that moss under tray is everything!
Love it and the stand is perfect with it !

Looks great, and I think the inclusion of the moss underneath it works really well compositionally.
The base is looking great!
Personally, I would develop the ramification and shape of the canopy before entering it in a show.
I really cant understand how he is entering this in a show after 30 years of doing bonsai.
the moss made it more tropical. kinda like ferns growing ;) great trees for the bonsai show. and accent plants. also awesome tables too!
I've been taking the dry moss and crumbling it up all over my bricks. Starting to get a nice carpet growing.

Great Job sir! A littel moss goes a long way

Yes, I usually use the tool that's in my hand!!! Funny!
Looking good Nigel! Will see you at the show!
it looks good on that stand.. i think it needs a casket next to it, with a bonsai coming out looking like a ghost
Another tree in the show! I am really looking forward to the show, it will be my first and certainly not last!
nigel whipped that bug right outta frame
Amazing Nigel. Good luck in the show.
Beautiful bonsai, really admirable work sir 🙏🙏
So nice of you, thanks!!
Its good that you like Mike dude
Awesome Nigel 👌
Somewhat surprising selection but looking very good nevertheless. The long moss at the bottom tray made a difference...
Toronto, not 1, but 2 Nigel trees, they will be so grateful lol 😄

What size is that pot? It looks about the length of your hand. I’m trying to visualize it because I have a tree I’m trying to turn into this style.
You should grow your own moss. Different types so you have available.
Tuyệt vời 🇻🇳❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
If you have time I'd put your accent plant in a bonsai pot.
Absolutely. Bonsai show arrangers shouldnt even allow it. Like wtf dude?? Looks like something he just picked up at a regular garden center and brought with him.
Will you release the print file? Would be cool to maybe make a Vietnam style bo sai one day
👍👌👌🍎

Mike is running for the Green Party here, my wife is a candidate in our region!
Plastic pot in show sounds like a joke but i dont know how your shows are

Get over yourselves
