Looking back on this golden age now Jeff Gordon is like one of the titans of that time, and man he really was a phenom but I remember growing up in the 90s being a fan and rooting for or being a fan of Jeff Gordon was almost seen as like one of the seven deadly sins. I think this guy really ruffled a LOT of feathers in the entire sport with just how ridiculously good he was, and people always tried to justify it with gripes about him not paying his dues and jumping right into a great car or how he didn’t look or act the part
People that weren’t alive in the 90’s have no idea how great NASCAR was back then! This was one of the last years of the Golden age of NASCAR!
Dave Marcis despite being a lap down, finished in 16th, his record 32nd consecutive Daytona 500. Not even Richard Petty did that.
I was at this race. In the infield. I was 11. I got to do everything except the Winston tent walk through.
