    Thank you for one of the best explanations and visuals ever! I wish I could find some videos that explain crystal structure and Miller indices as well as you explained Bowen's Reaction Series!

    pyroxene is also divided into two as the magma decreases in temprature an the silica increases into arthopyroxene and clinopyroxene ,quartz was also not the end of the magmatic crystalization zeolite and hydrothermal fluid are the last mineral and hot water formed during the magmatic final crystalization forming the pegmatitic structure.

    This is very helpful. At approximately five minutes,10 seconds, it says "...magnesium, Ma..." For the sake of correctness, it might be helpful to change it to, "...magnesium, Mg..."

    When you say that the calcium is "booted out" by the sodium in the plagioclase minerals, where do the calcium ions go?

    • @wvannorden1
      @wvannorden1  3 года назад

      That will depend upon what other ions are present in the melt.

    Great !! I understood what you said but not the all because of the language , but Is that means at the end we will just have Quartz ?? not all of them ?
    I wish someone reply

    • @wvannorden1
      @wvannorden1  6 лет назад +2

      It simply means that quartz is the last to form if enough silica is available in the melt. The feldspars with their Al and Na, and the Hornblende and Biotite with its Fe will remain. That is why a felsic magma will become granite with feldspar crystals, mica crystals, hornblende crystals and finally quartz crystals filling in the gaps between the earlier formed silicates.
