Went to the 70th and the 73rd. Gonna miss the 80th which I reckon will be the last of the original guys. Big hugs all those that make it back 80 years later. We owe you our freedom!! Xx
Wow it's the first time I have been emotional watching a RUclips documentary. The way you have done the drone work alongside original footage is incredible. Congratulations 👏👏
I was there with my girlfriend inJanuary, unfortunately the museum was closed, but we made the most out of our time there. We stayed in Rouen and travelled a couple of hours to the Normandy beaches, where we spent most of a day exploring Omaha beach. We walked across it (from the memorial to the mulbary harbour area of thebeach, and went up to the village. Walking along the lane above the cliifs during sunset was amazing. We rushed to Gold and Juno beach, but it was hard finding Gold beach in the dark. I remember pulling up to that hut (which I had no knowledge about prior), and got out to read it and pay my respects. It was quite spooky there in the dark because it didn't seem like we were in the right spot where people go to park up, so we left and went to Juno beach. Even though we achieved a lot that day, I have so much more left to see of the Normandy beached/D-Day sites.
Our Dear Friend, Bill passed away Yesterday. The day he was going to travel back to those beaches he fought at 80 years ago. He was at Juno. Bill I believe was a Landing Craft Operator. He later received the French Legion of Honour…for his role. A Gentleman, of the Highest Order…Bill was aged 100Years. With Respect and Love…We wish You Eternal Peace and Our Gratitude. Surrey B.C. Canada.🇨🇦
I'm sorry to hear that. I knew a veteran of Juno, too. Sadly he passed away some years ago. Len was a DUKW driver from Birmingham, England. RIP Bill and Len! 🙏
Amazing work to combine Normandy footage it brought tears to my eyes thinking of my Father who spent 6 years fighting the Nazi's but was getting officer training in Sicily and Italy before rejoining his unit in the Netherlands. Years later he took my Mom to follow his WWII footsteps always regret Not going along

Like the sands of Iwo Jima, Tarawa, Okinawa, Peleliu, Guadalcanal, and many others, where soldiers from America and other Western Nations came to end the force of evil- These beaches are sacred. The blood they left on the beaches has permeated the sand, and the remains of those in whom it once flowed can be seen in the cemeteries not far away. I pray we never forget them, or their courage to sacrifice their own lives on the altar of freedom. Heavenly Father, grant them eternal rest and let your perpetual light shine upon them.
Hi my name is Ash and i live in the UK. I want to learn about D Day as i love history and find it fascinating. I've started reading a book called D Day minute by minute but it doesn't talk about the build up to D Day and the various operations. Can you suggest a good book please and a documentary to watch?
@@InTheFootstepsofHeroes Awesome job at helping Ash learn more about this historic day....I always put down June 6 as my birthday on forms in memory of my Dad's 6 yr tour of WWII
These men have been identified as Italian soldiers who were working for the German Labour service Organisation Todt. Helping to build defences for the Atlantic Wall.

It won’t be the same without the original veterans but we will continue to remember all those who took part.
Heroes 1 and all never forget the sacrifices they made.

Went to all the beaches in Oct 2023, was an amazing experience.

Not long returned from Normandy trip, so much more to see. Already planning my return trip
So much to see, I have been several times. Still lots I need to see.
Normandy is my favourite destination. I have never gotten tired of visiting. It's like a pilgrimage.

Thank you 🫡
God bless our heros
Yes! Thank you for watching!
Went to Omaha- everyone wanted to look in the museums…
I had to breakaway from that and get down to the beach itself- it was momentous!
Totally agree. To stand on those beaches is incredible and humbling.
WE WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER THEM WE WILL NEVER FORGET
Lest We Forget.
for sure Terry
Fantastic. Loved this!

Hi Ash. I would recommend Sand and Steel by Peter Caddick Adams. History Underground on RUclips, JD has some fantastic videos.

Just got back on sat great expert that us took round from leger holidays
I had two great trips with Leger. Normandy and Arnhem. They do have some fantastic guides.
Onore anche ai soldati tedeschi
Nous y serons du 3 au 10 juin. Ne pas oublier 👍❤️
Merci beaucoup
Interesting that it’s an Italian prisoner at 1:30. Several Italians taken prisoner at Ponte du Hoc.

Thank you to the people of France for remembering and maintaining the cemetaries at Normandy all these years.
Can never understand why they fly the French Flag alongside the Allies Flags. They ran away and let the Germans take France in 90 minutes.
A Giugno io e mio figlio saremo a Carentan
Spero che vi divertiate entrambi
