The Civil War wasn’t North v. South, as highlighted in the Lincoln-Douglas debates in the northern state of Illinois. It was a Democrat v. Republican battle. The infamous Dred Scott decision (blacks were property) in 1857 was a Supreme Court vote of 7 Democrat justices for, and 2 Republican justices against. By 1900, more than 20 black Republicans had served in Congress. Democrats did not elect a single black congressman until 1935. And every black senator until 1979 was a Republican. When federal troops withdrew from the South after reconstruction ended, Democrats’ white supremacy laws re-emerged with a vengeance enforced by the paramilitary arm of the Democratic Party, the KKK, which was used to suppress blacks from voting Republican.

I grew up in a middle-class, liberal, military, democratic family. My brother and I were brought up to be critical thinkers. My parents and my brother switched to Republican after Jimmy Carter. When my mom died, my dad started listening to Rush Limbaugh, Glen Beck, FOX, et al. I think he became radicalized because he was so heartsick and angry. He's been dead for over fourteen years and I wonder every day how he would feel about today's GOP. Why are Trump supporters so angry and unhappy?

My husband wasn't into politics so he would vote Democrat along with me. That was until Trump. He was listening to friends, started watching Fox, Newsmax and OAN and joined FB. The algorithms kept sending him more and more misinformation. His brother got him following Qanon and he just kept spiraling. He would get angered by all their talking points and somehow I became the enemy. I never ever would have expected him to have changed so much. He was for the most part a very happy, easy going guy before Trump, Fox ... I truly believe what psychiatrists are saying that it is, a "mass shared psychosis". They said it is what Hitler and other cult leaders were able to create. Trumps ex said he studied Hitlers, Mein Kampf which is basically a playbook to a Dictatorship. They keep the followers angry and in fear as part of the brainwashing. The Psychiatrists say most will come out of it when Trump is gone. At one point I felt like I was in the invasion of the body snatchers, with friends and neighbors as well, being on that train. Thankfully some have snapped out of it on their own.
The answer lies within your story. Fox, Limbaugh, OAN and their ilk pound thier lies and propaganda into the heads of their listeners. Joseph Goebbels, Hitler's propaganda guy would be proud of them. “Repeat a lie often enough and it becomes the truth”,

White House Leaves Out Key Fact in Statements on Alleged Murders of Americans by Illegal Aliens
Over the past two weeks, Americans have seen numerous stories about horrific crimes allegedly committed by illegal aliens. The White House commented on two cases but failed to mention a key fact.
The White House statements on the murders of Rachel Morin and Jocelyn Nungaray failed to mention the suspects are illegal aliens - and that they entered the country because of President Biden’s open-borders policies.
Rachel Morin, a mom of five, was ra* ed and murdered in Bel Air, Maryland. The suspect is an illegal alien from El Salvador who entered the country as a gotaway, said to be fleeing from justice over a homicide he is suspected of committing in his home country. If the Biden administration had continued construction of the border wall and not taken agents off the line and moved them to process illegal aliens, there is a good chance he would have been caught. Or, if President Biden had never opened our borders, this illegal alien may never have tried to come.
Jocelyn Nungaray, a 12-year-old girl, was found strangled to death in a creek in Texas. Two Venezuelan illegal aliens have been arrested in the case and face capital murder charges. They allegedly lured Jocelyn under a bridge, where they assaulted her for two hours before killing her. One of the suspects crossed illegally into El Paso last month and was released with a Notice to Appear (NTA). The other suspect arrived in El Paso in March and was also released with an NTA. Instead of using ICE detention space and placing these illegal aliens into removal proceedings, they were released into the country as has become so common under the Biden administration.
In addition to those two horrific crimes, an illegal alien was charged with ra* ing a 13-year-old girl in a New York City park in broad daylight. Prosecutors say the illegal alien admitted to filming the attack after he bound and gagged the girl. He crossed the border illegally in June of 2021, where he was processed and released. The alleged rapist was ordered to leave the United States in 2022, but nobody enforced that order. Biden didn’t bother to release a statement on this case.
Biden refuses to take any responsibility for these crimes, and there’s a reason why. This administration seems to view these crimes as collateral damage in pursuit of carrying out its open-borders agenda.

Off topic. On August 11, 2020 Trump say if re-elected he will terminate Social Security. In the Time interview Trump doubles down saying he will make permanent the elimination of the payroll tax. The payroll tax is the FICA tax that funds Social Security and Medicare.
In 2020 a Social Security actuary said if the payroll tax is stopped Social Security cold last only 3 years. Not to mention what would happen to Medicare.

I've watched at least a dozen of these. I'm glad to see these folks finally come around. However, I just have one thing to say. Back in 2015 all anyone had to do was spend 10-15 minutes on the internet to research Trump to find out what he was really like. I did and was horrified. His entire life was consumed by the same corruption we saw during his presidency. The common theme that binds these people, besides voting for Trump in past elections, is they were surprised that it turned out the way it did. Really? With all that info at your fingertips and you're surprised that he was a disaster. OK, whatever you say. At least you've come around.

I wondered a lot about Trump's negative view of the military and the only thing I can come up with, is that the US military is an institution in itself. The military represents an order like the constitution itself. I think the military would be an obstacle to any fascist wanting to overthrow democracy.
