Started watching your channel during the MW19 cycle and you have a very articulate way of describing the frustration I think a lot of us have developed over this series. I’m looking forward to MW2 for the campaign and maybe DMZ but it’s hard to imagine anything is going to change in terms of MP being transparent or having interesting goals to reach. The mastery camo is fun if you like to mindlessly grind (which ironically I do) but that’s pretty much all it is at this point. I will definitely be excited if you choose to cover side modes but completely understand you taking a step back. Take care bro

So fun rewatching em, even when they aren't "relevant" anymore. I'll be watching regardless of the content you upload. I appreciate your stuff mate. Thankyou ♥️

really love this channel and I absolutely feel you in that mundane "yet another cod" feeling, especially the fact that you got through vanguard. I didn't play vanguard but I bought both mw19 and cold war, enjoyed both but stuck closer to mw19. I'm currently going through the last bit of the camo grind and I honestly can't imagine doing that 3 years in a row, let alone the 4th that's coming up with MWii.
I get what you're feeling and I would never be able to get myself through the stuff you got yourself through involving the game, so I hope that you don't feel like this "burnout" isn't understandable. you're a legend and I hope that you just keep doing stuff that you like doing ❤️

8:57 I went back to my PS3 to see my MW3 stats & guess what my K/D ratio was? 0.58 lol, no SBMM & I had the best memories on that game. Now with SBMM if I die a lot, I can easily tell when the game puts me in noobs lobbies and it's not rewarding at all killing those people. Is kinda sad they don't realize, or don't want to accept they're killing what would be an awesome game with SBMM.

I'm excited for MWII, but completely understand and respect your opinion about recent 4 years. BOCW and Vanguard multiplayer was pretty bad for me, so I want MWII to be some redemption for past couple of games.
It would be great if you could find a way to record single-player playthrough for CoD Big Red One, CoD Finest Hour and CoD 3! These campaigns are amazing, and Finest Hour is EXTREMELY hard, I still remember some moments from this game.

It's so sad that for them we are all the same, even if we've been with them for the last 10+ years & even if we did every single mastery camo in every single CoD, our opinion doesn't matter & they just don't care because we're just like any other dude who can spend $60, we're easily replaceable.
CoD is dead and we killed it.
Those of us who buy skins uncontrollably, those of us who defend Activision when they get in all sort of scandals, those of us who defend SBMM, those of us who aren't down to try new changes before heavily criticizing them (e.g. Warzone 2), etc. We're all fighting between us while they're laughing & getting their pockets filled with millions.
You made an excellent choice s0ur, I hope you can find a new game to enjoy at its fullest & make videos of, like you did with CoD, & I really hope you succeed, because you definitely deserve it more than those who do "warzone META loadout season 1" vids with red arrows on the thumbnail.

I remember discovering you back during MWR with your "stats" videos. Enjoyed those and then your MW2019 stuff. Specifically remembering you Care Package one. With these last 2 CODs being...what they were...I haven't followed you even though I stayed subbed. I realized I'm only an IW fan about 6 years ago. Sucked into CW but I'm only buying IW CODs. But listening to your SBMM thoughts here got me thinking. I playing BF2042 this year (8-9 days played is all). And having never played BF before I could feel my progression. Something I hadn't felt since probably MWR. But that's because I don't believe BF has SBMM. And it was amazing. Such a broken game 2042 is, and it was extremely enjoyable to me because of this. Now, being a 45 year old father of two who works his 40, these games are just a free time passing stress reliever. Playing games instead of watching a few hours or so of TV each week. I'm hesitant to jump back into the SBMM garbage. But I will, grinding camos and completing challenges. Anyway, thanks for all those great uploads over the years. Everything comes to an end eventually.

That point about branching out and trying new games is so true and important. I used to grind out the battlepasses on Warzone and I did it over and over and stopped enjoying around the tail end of MW2019's lifecycle, but I couldn't explain why. It wasn't until I tired playing new genres of games like Ace Combat 7 or the new Hitman trilogy and I started having tons of fun again. I realized it was because I was treating COD as a chore to take care of with it's battlepass while I was playing those other two games for fun alone. If a progression bar that resets every two months is the only thing keeping me back rather than the core gameplay experience, then I'm not playing a game, I'm a rat in a skinner box or a hamster running on a hamster wheel. Just play new games, expand your horizons, and have fun.

Personally I'd love it if you played the campaigns of some of the other FPS franchises like Medal of Honor (I've played the older ones and they're definitely tough but i don't remember if they're as tough as Cod 1 and 2) and Battlefield. There's also Titanfall 2 which has a great story. I'd enjoy watching the campaign playthroughs of these games.

I stepped away from Vanguard and Cold War, but the modern setting really pulls me in again. We'll see what happens. Of course I'm sad to see you stepping away from the game, you were my single favourite RUclipsr, not just out of CoD RUclipsrs, in general. It was so good to see the completionist side of the community get a voice, and you made me feel at home. But I much more admire your choice of stepping away from something that has let you down for years. All of your grievances with the game I share, but perhaps this really is the last chance I'll give the game. Who knows. I definitely will continue to look forward to each and every video you put out. Decided to quit for the year entirely, picked up genshin as my daily pve grind game and when i tried the mw2 beta actually had some fun because i didn't have that dread of "oh my god im going to play and suffer from the problems of this game for a whole year". Just going to go through the campaign for some nostalgia and maybe play a multiplayer match every now and then, take it for what it is and move on. EVERYTHING about it was manipulative from the 2nd full time job of maxing weapons, your third full time job of getting them Atomic, then the burnout experience that was seasonal challenges. 100% completing these last 3 CoD is meant to be unachievably grindy and burnout is inevitable. Keep the grind to your video quality, not these burnout simulator games. Love the content Sour.

Definitely very much enjoyed your content in the last couple years, starting with MW 2019. Hopefully you feel more fulfilled in any future content you make, no matter what it is. Personally, I view your videos for your commentary (guess this is obvious but I figured it’s worth mentioning) so I look forward to seeing what you’ll upload next. Whenever that will be, because I will be here when the notification arrives.
Without being too cliche, thanks for the very enjoyable content so far. I originally discovered your channel through ExclusiveAce when he credited you for some analysis (Ironically, probably SBMM) a few years ago. Much love.

I was one of those people who played cod a lot up until ghosts, which is when I walked away from the franchise. I would play the other games with friends but didn't buy them or really care. Mw19 was my return to the franchise and I enjoyed it. Same goes for Cold War. Bought vanguard with hope and was very disappointed. I agree with most of what you had to say, even though I do still get enjoyment out of these. It's really unfortunate that so many people have lost interest in cod, right as it shot back into the spotlight. I do wish there could've been a middle ground that combined the best of the new features and designs while also retaining a lot of the classic fun, matchmaking, and progression systems.

Sour I loved watching all the cod stuff over the years man, you and taborhill were the challenge guide kings of cod. I moved on from cod after mw2019 but still kept up with all ur cod vids, I understand why ur leaving the series I left for the same reasons, if u keep uploading we’ll be there, but if it’s time for u to move on man then we get it too. Easily the best cod RUclipsr out there

i'd be so down for more destiny content however spaced out it is if that's a game you're still into, i remember finding out you played it and ended up watching your entire witch queen campaign vod on your twitch.
you should definitely play what you enjoy the most though, even if that's what your channel was mainly focused around, you have a lot of people who are here regardless :)

@@S0ur yeah that would be super cool even for people not into destiny i think. i'd love if you could do a playthrough of the campaign again too if you wanted to, even if it's just on twitch or something, it's fun watching other people experience the story :)

I respect and agree with everything you said, bud! I loved MW19, but barely hung around for the last two games. I would like to see the full story of the MWii campaign, but it’s not worth $60 for me. I’ll watch it on RUclips eventually, hopefully it’ll be with your commentary.

I’ve grown up playing cod games offline, because my parents have always had terrible wifi. Now I’m an adult, living on my own, and I have terrible wifi. I am completely used to and satisfied with playing cod games offline. Without all the sweating and rushing about, you begin to notice how better crafted the games actually are when you have time to breathe and play the way you actually like to play. I am in a position nowadays where I CAN play online and grind for camos and unlockables if I wanted to, but I choose not to. Besides unlocking dark aether for every gun in Cold War zombies (strictly playing solo) I have never bothered touching the online versions of these past 3 cod games. And they’re genuinely fun (but vanguard is so awful that even playing with bots doesn’t fucking help it)

The horrendous Gunsmith UI in the new cod makes me not wonna buy it. They have spent so much time praising it on their live stream, for it to turn out a confusing mess. Aslo they changed the progression, no more grind for attachments they said. YOU HAVE TO GRIND EVEN MORE TO GET A SIMPLE RED DOT. You have to levep your m4 PLUS a DIFFERENT gun to get the grip or red dot you want. And you have to navigate the hell they call the progression tree to find out what do you need to do to unlock the desired attachment. The same goes for unlocking weapons. There are other issues too

For me MW3 was the game which broke the series for me as someone who came in during CoD2 - so i get the feeling of it not being "The thing it used to be" and "Maybe their target group is different now" so i branched out into other games which felt more rewarding.
One thing: is this old mw2 gameplay or is AlterIWnet online again? Since its shutdown i have not touched mw2 as the steam version just sucks because of the p2p system.

I've never related so much to a cod video, everything you mentioned is how I feel for the last few years, think its time to get to get off the boat now, I'm 33 now need to find another hobby, cod just ain't doing it for me now, it's not the cod i got my dopamine fix from anymore, but it's been fun apart from the last 5/6 games, I'm done with this franchise

I have always hated the “skill gate keeping” that the recent games have done. I’ve played them, but I’ve always hated that I feel like I get punished for being an above average player. And I also agree with the take on paid cosmetic bundles. While they aren’t the only ones to do it, I just feel like there shouldn’t ever really be anything in the store that’s cooler than something you can unlock through challenges also.

In the same boat. Was massivly dissapointed by MW2019, went back to MWR. Then CW, that I kinda liked but got sooo burned by the sbmm. Couldnt bring myself to buy Vanguard, and seeing MW2022 being a 2019 blueprint Ive just given up on COD.
(But I have this secret dream of 2022 failing big time, Activision seeing the light, and multiplayer being great again)

This is a really good video. I imagine myself and many other feel very similar about cod. I think the only solution at this point is to hope another AAA studio comes around and gives COD some competition. There's that SM2 game that is in the works but I don't even think that can compete with the modern things that cod has in terms of graphics and animations.

The most frustrating thing for me is that I feel like the cod community was literally replaced after MW19. How could people accept a game which went from fast arcade movement to slow tactical gameplay?

  • @olympusmons8439

One of the things i wish cod would do is allowing for cosmetic grinding in private match. If I want to get the mastery camos and all calling cards including the nuke calling card then why shouldn't I he able to?they are all cosmetics anyways. It doesn't hurt anyone's real game it doesn't take away from anyone's game. The issue to me is that cod has little freedom on how much fun you are allowed to have and how you have it and the community often times back that behavior. Wz has become a streamers paradise, a shit talking buffet and what was once a fun and new to being something that you have the same strategy everytime, where meta rules all instead of implementing all styles of gameplay.
    Imo cod needs
-Private matches that count towards cosmetics
-warzone maps that actually change so games can't have a strategy for an entire year so midway through the games life you can't even have fun anymore because everyone has already mastered it
-the ability to earn cod points leading to bundles so you can earn everything in the game OR you can buy it. Let the community have both options
-no more fuckin exclusive content for youtubers and streamers. I'd like one of those cod care packages that nets me hats, tshirts, and collectable items as well. I bought the full version of the game and its literally only a digital download meanwhile they didn't offer physical editions of the game have the vault edition so I can pick between the vault edition or I can have a physical edition with a steelbook and a literal disc that I can have forever. They gave content creators a nice ass 141 calling card just for being Content creators, even activision aces got their own camo and calling cards, all things that should have been avaliable to the general public.

Gotta relate on not really feeling current CoD. Like you I've also given it a chance for the past 3 years but past MW they just haven't held my attention very well. I don't plan on buying MWII or any future CoD games unless something major changes because as is I'm just not feeling it. I have plenty of other games to play that are a lot more fun with devs that seem like they care more about the players over selling cosmetics.

Mastery camo is the one thing I think needs overhauling. With mw2 I love the new mastery camo but I knew as soon as I read the unlock requirements that I wasn't getting it again this year because i get maybe 3 hours every other day to play and having to platinum knife, riot shield and launchers is too stressful

the golden era CODs will always be the best and pull off that feeling of nostalgia. BO2 was the last one i bought without taking strong consideration first. since then mw19 was the first that hooked me for more than a month. im excited for the new one, but i expect it to feel similar to how MW3 felt after MW2, carbon copy of the last installment which i did enjoy. the microtransactions and SBMM are 100% annoying i think that goes for everybody over 13 years old. to each their own, imma tolerate it until i cant tolerate it anymore.
