How u can say first example of Blank verse is Tamburlaine ? Before Marlowe , there are writers who have used it . Earl of Surrey was 1st to imply blank verse and then Gorbuduc - the first english to be written in Blank verse.

First play in Blank Verse is Tamburlaine. Tamburlaine was the first English play written in blank verse by Marlowe.

Surrey was the first English poet to publish in the Blank Verse, that was in poetry form and those were Norton and Sackville who used Blank verse first in their drama "Gorboduc" but Marlow added new vigour force and fire to the blank verse to suit his heroic theme.
