You are a lifesaver! That little magic instant sourdough packet inspired my first EVER attempt at making bread. The directions made sense... up until the folding and scoring part. Thank you for the clarification. I think I've got this! I'm subscribed and can't wait to watch more of your videos!
I bought this yeast awhile back. It is great. T. Y. 4 sharing this video. I am going to try your way. I did let my first loaf sit in fridge for 24 hours. Your loaf looked amazing 🎉
I made this while camping. It's a long process and takes a good chunk of the day (all the waiting times), but it turned out perfect. I used a camping dutch oven - the kind with legs and a rim on the top so that you can set it over coals and put more coals on the top of the lid. That last step of baking without a lid is a little tricky because the lid *is* the heat source, so I just popped it open and held it open a bit with a stick to let the steam out. This stuff is like magic. I think that you still come out money ahead with this, as the ingredients are probably around $2.75 or $3 for the yeast and flour, versus a $5 or $6 fancy bakery boule, but of course there is the time and effort. But I can highly recommend it. Thank you for the video!
Hi there! I have watched so many sour dough making bread ! But you made it so very easy rather than other people make it longer to make it . I will try they way you did it and looks so very easy !! So thank you for sharing the easy way , how to make sourdough making ! So thank you and appreciate it ….
Thank you so much you were so clear in explaining everything I love it and can’t wait to try it. I bought the package and it’s been sitting there. Can’t wait to try it
looks great. You got great oven spring and ear, so i think the AP flour worked fine. I am trying out a new sourdough recipe using a stiff/dry starter and it's more or less a one day cycle. crossing my fingers.
And, I cringe to even mention another very important step, and that is….resist, resist the temptation to cut into hot sourdough bread! Let cool at least an hour, if not to room temp. The heat being released by the cut, is needed to continue the final cooking process. The result will be a heavier, gummier crumb, and a chance of going bad quicker. I admit….I couldn’t resist my 1st time either!! 🍞 🥰
That looks so good. I used to make sourdough yrs ago. But I felt I was just wasting ingredients by throwing away the unused starter. Could you post the recipe down below your video? I'll give it a try.
I bought a set of Crofton from Aldi and they were on sale and very inexpensive. I’ve used the 2 Qt to make my Dutch Oven bread. It’s cast iron and ceramic coated. I recently ordered a Crock Pot ceramic Cast Iron from Amazon. Haven’t got it yet. Your recipe calls for 4 1/2 cups of flour and my recipe is a cup less. So I’m thinking the 3 Qt might work. I also bake mine in a small 2 burner gas grill. But I’ve baked it in a combo microwave convection oven. We’re camping all summer and I have limited space. But it works. 😂👨🍳
@GoodGriefLouise R that sounds great! Wherever we can save a few bucks here and there is wonderful! I also have the Samsung combo micro/convection and I love it!! Great minds think alike!! I hope you all have a great summer camping❤️ sounds like a dream🥰🥰
FYI: It's not just about the flavour. It's about the tremendous health benefits of Fermenting the dough for as close to 24 hrs. Why? Bcos the bacteria eats down the gluten, which is super great for our digestion, body and health. You can actually lose weight eating long fermented baked goods.
I agree. This was mostly intended for those of us that can not or do not have the time to maintain a starter but would like the flavor every once in a while. it's a good alternative.
Great show; my wife and I loved watching! I also loved your explanation about "all purpose flower" it works just fine! Would love a link to the recipe.
try using the juice of half a medium/large size lemon. i bake loaves using 3.5cups of flour and 350mls (including the lemon juice) of liquid. + the usual other ingredients. works perfectly, and i KNOW whats making the sourdough taste. all the juice from the lemon makes it too strong for my taste tho... so experiment for yourself...
Hello friend 🙏👌👏 why they are not aloud . The reason sourdough does not raise the sougar in blood so my wife can not have regular bread . Thank you for your response ❤
I have investigated this product and at first thought it would solve my sourdough problems. However, the price is ridiculous and would more than triple the price of a loaf.
Definitely not for everyday use. It is more for the person that does not want to maintain a sourdough starter but still would like the experience every now and again.
I was reading comments in the original Red Star post and Red Star does not reccommend using AP flour, it would be nice to see it done the way it should be. I then googled it and bread flour is highly recommended. I watched your video because initially you said you downloaded their recipe. A little disappointed. I am not a baker, just beginning, so I depend on watching these videos.
I'm sorry you felt disappointed. If you watch my other videos, I strongly believe in making recipes work with what you have. I use all purpose flour because it is exactly that. All purpose. I do not believe that there is a need to purchase different types of flour. After my time in culinary school and working in the food industry, I realized this and have made it a standard in my kitchen. Fell free to use the bread flour, but the all purpose is just as great.
@@arlenesurbanhomesteadwhat is your opinion on the flavoring of this bread? A commenter said this is just spice to mimic the flavor of sourdough… I’d love to make actual sourdough, but I’m a rookie in the kitchen! The only thing I’ve ever been good at is burning down my kitchen. 😂
🫤 i saw your video, was all excited (i am a German in the US) and followed your recipe. 😒 first the dough is way to dry, the bread turns out to dense, then the sourdough taste is an afterthought, not great will not recommend.

Try it! It's great!!
I like the Mexicana touch, you're a doll!!!!
And thanks for making it look so easy, but i can tell this wasnt your first rodeo.
Doing this today! Thanks for the video, really helps!
Making loaf #4 today. Thanks so good !!
That looks amazing!
Making with jalapenos and cheddar right now. Made it plain last week.
I love your reactions! I tried this too!
What??!?? I just Made my sourdough starter yesterday! Thank god I came across your video ❤!!! Where did you buy this??
@@ronnie9958 I bought it at Walmart. But definitely stick with the starter. It took me a while to get a steady starter but it's so worth it

Let me know how it turns out! Sourdough is so delicious but can be complicated. I'm interested to see how a one day cycle works!
Wow looks good! I need to try this
game changer thank you

You're adorable and that bread looks amazing! 🤩
Look beautiful 🙏 I also got the package
Thank you for sharing 🙏
What was the size of the Dutch oven. Looks like a 3 qt. Walmart also sells this sourdough yeast.
It is a 5 qt. Dutch oven. I bought mine from le creuset but honestly the ones at Walmart and lodge brand are amazing! I love my lodge pans🥰

Gorgeous bread! Helpful demonstration!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you so much for watching my video!
Looks great, tastes great, not too salty. But she never commented on the sourdough taste.

Where do they sell that product? This is a real game changer!
I bought it at my local Winn Dixie. I'm sure they have it available online though
I got mine at WINCO😀
I got it from vons
I got mine on Amazon

Great idea!
Can we use that dough to make sourdough cinnamon rolls.
I believe so. The dough is not sweet but I think that would make them balanced and not too sweet.
I tried this product and like your bread: it was beautiful but it lacked the aroma and flavor of sourdough.
Yeah, the main thing I was wondering about was the sourdough taste. which she glossed over very quickly. But I will try out this yeast for myself.
💐💐💐💐🙏🏻
😍❤️🥰
That’s “sourdough spice”. You do you… but that’s what they use in commercial bakeries because they aren’t allowed to use regular ferment.
Why not allowed?

1 Q ? Is that sourdough organic ?
no. I did not use organic flour. the yeast is not labeled as organic so I am assuming it is not.

Why is your “screen presentation” so SMALL⁉️
It is reduced quite a lot and barely shows your work service…😮
When I first started, I was using my phone to film. I'm still learning quite a bit. Getting better everyday!!
I need the receipe please
