Great to hear the voice of Margit getting more work. The guy’s voice is solid gold. The gameplay looks great, too. Those spell effects are selling me on a mage play through.
Love the aestheitcs. Animations look on point... but the combat is just another Soulsbourne.... looks even less enthused than the original from a decade ago, which I loved for being super weighty and very heavy. Loved cleaving enemies in half with the two-handed heavy swords. I just wish we had more games that weren't just copy-pasta of Dark Souls when it comes to the combat. And for everyone saying "Well they can't do anything new!" look at games like SiFu or Blight: Survival when it comes to infusing original and unique combat mechanics into the genre. It can be done.
@@billywashere6965 I think that a quick search by sales for the titles quickly answers that question from the perspective of a larger studio and sales. People enjoy the DS combat style well enough and the sales + good enough context give a good financial result well as iterating on it is a gamble and is risky. I do want studios to experiment but I imagine CIGames has a lot riding on this and cannot gamble on the outcome.

I remember when the first Lords of the Fallen came out, it was the first multiplatform game to be current gen only during a time where every game was for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. That game still holds up graphically. Now it's back, fully showcasing what's capable. Hope to see more detailed combat soon

I’ve played original Lords of the Fallen and it was a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine. I was suprised when this one was announced, but now seeing that it goes into Blasphemous inspired theme I’m even more excited!
Yeah I agree, the first game just ok. It was short and the combat never felt satisfying to me. It was slow but didn't feel impactful at all. There weren't really any other souls-like out at the time, so you took what you could get.
I like it, they are obviously a souls like considering the first Lords of The Fallen was also the first clear imitator of the Fromsoft formula, but where Fromsoft series has a more somber and melancolic tone, this second, or rebboted entry of Lords Of The Fallen goes for a more bombastic one in a similar setting. As a way to differentiate thmselfs, hopefully they also have a thight gameplay with a fun loop to set it as one of the best game of the year.
