@@lilsaint7532 He already tweaked it away from actual fog damage, though, so that's a dumb excuse. You don't die from fog less when fighting Bowser, and you don't heal fog damage in water. If you're already tuning it for basic playability, you might as well go all the way.

This mod really emphasized coin, heart, and lives knowledge and clean skillful creative play. Most annoying aspect is probably death warping in states to avoid having to go out of the castle. Cool challenge.

i never understood why there are 3 mushrooms in the castle roof if you could only get there by picking 120 stars and talking to yoshi so he give you 100 lives anyway... now i understand 12:11 anyway this hack rom only show how much this game gives you too many lives for no good reason
Nice run. I wonder if going immediately for the 100 coin star and then the 8 coin star every time you enter a new level would be a good strat, since you’re guaranteed two 1-Ups after exiting, and since the stars are so coin-based it’s unlikely you’ll ever go that long without healing.
This has got to be one of the best video on your channel! I really enjoyed the new kind of strategies this forced you to develope. The challenge might have been completable if only the cut-scenes wouldn't damage - certainly would have helped a lot with the excruciating life-farming :D I also really enjoyed the Sonic 64 and Mario the Hedgehog (sorry that idk the actual name, lol) hacks! Has anyone ever considered putting Link from Ocarina of Time instead of Mario?
fire sea isn’t impossible at all, the heart near the warp regenerated your health proportionately to how fast you move through it. just build up hyperspeed lol ez
26:58 there is a bug in this game that this heart healing thing last a lot of time... i saw an explanation in some video , i cant remember wichone, but basically, the health of mario, is not an value from 0 to 8, but from... 0 to 65536 or something like that. the heart recover a lot of heart each frame for an certain ammount of frames, that is why the heart can recover you even after the health reach 100% (number of frames that it take effect) sometimes mario counter show 0 hp, but the real number is not 0 yet, so he is not dead yet.

Frankly, I think if this was programmed so you stop taking damage during cutscenes and textboxes, Bowser would be doable too without cheating.

The mod obviously just needs to be fixed so the Bowser fights don't have the fog.
It'd be more appropriate if the damage timer stopped while you had no control over Mario, as with door opening and key turning.
This play through is more realistic of real life
Farming one ups is easy in the vanish cap area. Get three on the steps, then jump off the edge, heal in the water, rinse and repeat
