Been doing some serious practice behind my 308, but I've found that I have some room for improvement in stability in field conditions. The bipod grip tip is exactly what I need and I'm going to go practice it asap. Only got a few more months until my very first elk hunt. Thanks for passing on this information to the next generations! Keeping the tradition going.
For those of you wondering im pretty sure he is using a standard 26 inch sling mount bipod. Or sling mount to tactical rail. Either way still a really great way of hunting
A big key to good performances when it matters is to aim for the Target behavior in the target environment when prepping, just like in sports or many other arenas of performance i imagine. Thanks for reminding us Randy and nice idea about the bipod grip too. Wiedmannsheil from Italy and Denmark 🇩🇰 😊
Excellent! Shooting off a pack gives a consistent surface, bipod may be different surface shooting a caribou in soft tundra versus shooting a Dall sheep in hard rimrock (more muzzle jump at firing with a bipod in hard rimrock = slightly higher shot, less muzzle jump in soft tundra = slightly lower shot).
I was pretty steady in my younger years but I don’t shoot off hand now unless it’s really close. Even then I try to find some way to stabilize the rifle
Thanks for the info! Very helpful! I looked at the Mystery Ranch website and it doesn't appear that any of the packs have the 2 pouches like the one you show here. Has that model been discontinued that you know of?
Thanks. Planning an antelope hunt for 2017 to New Mexico DIY. Your show is awesome, I feel like lots of the good qualities of being a sportsman get blemished through many shows. Hope you have a great season in 2017.

Curious about bipod jumping when the shot breaks or does your loading (forward or backward pressure) of the bipod take care of that?
Awesome practical advice. Can't be faulted.
Thanks for watching.
Thank you Randy, what do you think of the Swagger bipod?

Thanks for the info! Very helpful! I looked at the Mystery Ranch website and it doesn't appear that any of the packs have the 2 pouches like the one you show here. Has that model been discontinued that you know of?
Correct. That model has been discontinued for the even better model, the Metcalf.
Great video Randy. Thanks.
Thanks. Glad you liked it. Hope it provided at least one small bit of good info.
I have enjoyed all of your videos! Being a Montana native, your videos strike very close to home!
Which model MR pack is that? Thank you
Do you ever use shooting sticks?
Good tip here
What exactly do you consider a lightweight rifle anything below 10 lb
I wouldn't consider that "lightweight," but a lot of guys carry rifles of that weight. I would say once you get to, or under, 7# it is "lightweight."
Hey Randy, it might have been asked but which model pack is that? Looks amazing. Cheers!
Mystery Ranch Metcalf.
Awesome, I was on the website and kind of matched it to the picture but wanted to be sure. Thanks Randy!
what size scope rings do u use
Medium in height and depends on if I have a 1" or 30 mm scope tube.
I'm sorry but who makes the backpack on this video again?
That is the Metcalf, made by Mystery Ranch: goo.gl/2eQ37L
where did you get the stuff to attach your rifle to your pack.
Google "Gun Bearer."
