I've been to Wintherthur and enjoyed the beauty of the rooms, but Brent Hull's explanations of the design elements gives a deeper appreciation of the different styles.
Thanks for presenting these tutorials. Each one describes the distinctives that distinguish the style. The talent displayed in the decorative moldings shows the workmanship the apprentices had to develop. That Greek Revival crown is a unique look that I hope to copy.
This is my favorite style because 1) I think it still translates pretty well to contemporary tastes and 2) I heard it was the first American style of classicism that was popular here but not so much in Europe, at least for residential. However, none of these rooms are in your "Traditional American Rooms" book. What's up with that??
The Greek civil war to break away from the Ottoman Empire and reestablish an independent state, 1820-1830. Western Europe and the Americas, on a popular level, awaken to the art, architecture and government of ancient Greece. The Grecian mode is more pronounced than even that of the French Empire style.
Thanks for this series. The rooms were beautiful.
Glad you like them!

Thanks and I agree on all points. It's not in TAR because at the time I wrote it I didn't love and appreciate the GR like I do today.
