To me, the 4 younger races represent the classic elements. Earth is, well, Earth. The Centauri are Air (proud, flighty, the Centauri hair and symbol looks like fa ), the Narns are Fire (passionate, the predominance of red, their emblem looks like fire, their star is a red supergiant), and the Minbari are water (have a beautiful and serene veneer but can drown you with its overwhelming and hidden power).
They also referenced 4 continental regions of Earth: The Centauri represent Europe with a history of Imperialisation leading to decline. The Narn are Africa recovering after falling victim to Imperialisation. The Minbari are Asia, ancient and with an entrenched caste system. Earth is the Americas, young and making mistakes but growing faster than any other race. That's why Earth and the Centari were allied just the same as every country in the Americas has alliances across Europe. Got to love the writing on B5.
Thank you for this video! For me the most interesting part was about the Centauri. Looks like they made friend with EA mostly because by that time they understood, that thay NEED to be in good relations with at leat ONE alien race))
The only inaccuracy I see was the fact that the Narn planet was lush and full of vegetation before the Centari basically strip mined their world and turned it desolate. Other then that as far as I can tell it's accurate. I watched the original series when it came out.
How you guys feel about babylon 5 finally getting some love from warner brothers and being remastered? shame its not on blueray yet but perhaps that will come aswell!
The original B5 was incredible but flawed. I am against remaking series that were incredible, but fully support remaking series like this. A great producer with a good writing team can do it.
I Just realized that the very existence of the Minbari that WE See in the TV series is due to a Paradoxon inflicted by Sinclair and the Bab4 Station.... Interesting
The Difference between the major powers and the League worlds was their expeditionary ability. Major powers could support large forces almost anywhere in space, the League worlds struggled to maintain fleets beyond their own space. Its the difference between a 'blue-water navy' and a 'brown-water navy'.
So many things I didn`t know! Looks like EA and Centauri had a serious luck on their side despite their inner struggles. Where do you get that info? I didn`t find some races mentioned here
I'm not surprised to learn that the Earth Alliance wasn't the only civilization targeted for genocide by the Minbari federation. This is why I think the Minbari -- not humanity -- is the most dangerous race in the galaxy.
I have a strong feel that the centauri is based on ancient rome. because: 1. the centaurum is like the senate. 2. powefull houses wich ancient rome also had. 3. the emperor. quote cartagia to londo. the emperor can do no wrong isnt that so malari? that is our tradition londo replied. same as ceasar can do no wrong. I also read in an interview with the actor who played cartagia that he based the charactor on caligula
Yo where'd you get the centuari world map that looks awesome! It was hard to find some of the info on the fandom wiki site. I know if the Babylon 5 wiki but I couldn't find that early history of the centuari. I LOVED the Minbari history I wanna see where you got it please.
I'm glad I know why the Centauri chose to trade with mankind rather than conquer. Along why they left Narn and why they're on a decline. It did made me thing about what Emperor Turhan was trying to do. If he was successful, the Centauri could've reached a new golden age, not by conquest but by cooperation. I remembered trying to write my first fanfiction which it included the Alien races from the Stargate universe and it was set after the beginning of the Second Season. The Earth Alliance had uncovered their Stargate and made contact and war with the Goauld. The Narns had unearthed their own Stargate too and they had made contact with the Nox. G'Kar had convinced Lya to visit Babylon 5 and during her visit, Emperor Turhan was present and she was able to heal him from death's door. Draal of the Great Machine reveals a Stargate too to Ivanova and Sheridan too. Also during the war against the Goauld, the Earth Alliance is losing and President Clarke had pushed forward the Omega-X project in order to change the war but the Goauld had arrived at Earth's Doorstep and began the Second Battle of the Line. Lastly, the Goauld had captured Captain Lochley and had made her their host for a System Lord's Wife.
After the war in the movie were not every single Human colony not genocided except for Earth? Would they have not been beyond weak after? I never got that.
The Minbari ignored the Earth colonies and only went for military targets. This approach was based on their caste system. First they intended to destroy Earth's military, and then they would move on to the human population. They surrendered before they reached that point. Leaving the human population alone is part of the reason why the Earth Alliance was able to recover so quickly.
@@leadingauctions8440 It's been a long time I watched the movie, but if I remember correctly the Minbari would wipe out the defenses of a colony, but leave the defenseless population behind.
Humans were still very new to spacefaring at that time, so all their colonies would also have been pretty new wouldn't have yet had the time needed to grow very big. The vast majority of the human population and industry was still on Earth or at least in the solar system. Even if all the colonies had been destroyed, even the largest probably only had a few thousand people in them at the time, and since Earth itself was left intact, Earth Alliance would have been well placed to rapidly reclaim her colonies and repopulate them. Doubly so if the Minbari only destroyed the defences and industrial infrastructure of each colony but left the civilian populations largely untouched.
1) Earth was far away from Dilgar territory and so neutral in the beginning. If they would be situated nearer then no chance. So Earth had time to have a look into the expansion of the Dilgar. 2) They succeded in hacking the Dilgar communication systems without the Dilgar knowing it, so they knew in advance what the Dilgar were planning. 3) EA joined a big fight were the Dilgar were fighting (and winning) against several other species, but due to the suprise element and good ships they had a victory. 4) The Dilgar wanted to make an example and attack EA and wipe them out as a sign not to defend yourself against the Dilgar. 5) Due to the hacked codes EA know what was coming and the exact time and place of the Dilgar fleet existing hyperspace. EA (and allied species?) amassed a lot of ships exactly there and killed a lot of Dilgar ships the second they exited Hyperspace. (I imagine this similiar to the movie "Wing Commander"). 6) Before this the specied attacked by the Dilgar were not unified, they tried to cooperate but everybody wanted to help their species first. Before joining this fight EA claimed command in the case they step in to give a unifing source and strategy so have a coherent strategy, not 10 different ones. So one system after another was freed and at the end Omelus (Dilgar homeworld) sieged. 7) The Dilgar fought a multi-front war against a lot of species at the same time. If they had concentrated on two or three they probably had a new homeworld and could consolidate their forces.

I also remember reading somewhere that the primordial being that gave way to the centauri race was some sort of bird like being
Well said. Nice job
Gotta give the Narm the Fav Vote.. Just love the look of their ships
Agreed
The Narn drive V8 muscle cars from the 70s where Earth drives 18 wheelers.
Have to agree. In B5, they are the tragic race and you want them to win in the end.

Great video
You should do A video about the earth minibar war We only have a limited lore about this event in the Babylon 5 history.
Sure. 😃 Have you see Babylon 5: In the Beginning
@@UtopianBroadcast1 of course I have it is a requirement first watch the series as a whole then watch in the beginning everything will be understood.
I was always curious about the centari during the shadow war the one with valen , they appeared to have been 2 or 3 rd behind minibar and vorlon ,
I didn't know that vorlon /mimbary history
The Minbari are just too cool!

What makes the Minbari dangerous is that they have OCD.
