Şehzade Süleyman, en yakın adamı Pargalı İbrahim ile birlikte çıktığı bir avda alır kötü haberi. Babası Yavuz Sultan Selim Han vefat etmiştir. Şehzade Süleyman hiç beklemeden, İstanbul’a doğru yola çıkar. Şehzade Süleyman hızla payitahta ulaşır. Hiç beklemeden cülus törenine katılır. Bir günde hayatı değişmiş. Sultan Süleyman olarak padişahlık hayatına başlamıştır.
Bu sırada, Karadeniz üzerinden içi köle yüklü bir kadırga, İstanbul’a doğru gelmektedir. Kölelerden en ateşli olanı ise, kaderini değiştirecek olan yolculuğa çıktığının henüz farkında değildir. Geri dönmek için çaresiz bir şekilde isyan etmektedir.
Sultan Süleyman, padişahlığının ilk gününde verdiği buyruklarla nasıl bir padişah olduğunu göstermek ister. Ama bu kararlar herkesin hoşuna gitmeyecektir. Sultan Süleyman ise gönderdiği mesajlarla, tüm Avrupa’ya meydan okumaktan çekinmez.
Alex, tüm isyankarlığına rağmen, Topkapı sarayına getirilir. Onun bu tavrı ilk andan itibaren Valide Sultan’ın dikkatini çeker. Ama Alex’in sarayın kurallarını öğrenmesi uzun sürmez. Kendisine büyük bir hedef seçer. Alex, Sultan Süleyman’ın karşısına çıktığı ilk gecede onun ilgisini çekmeyi başarır. Sultan Süleyman’ın eşi Mahidevran ise Manisa sarayından yeni gelmiş. Eşi ile görüşmeyi sabırsızlıkla beklemektedir.

This palace was a toxic enviroment. The rules was toxic and people had to live there and survive.
I'm glad menopause isn't such a big deal in today's society. Especially for a woman like Hurrem who already has many kids. Shes still beautiful and married to Suleiman. They're all acting like she has some incurable disease or something.
This is not a big deal even for childfree women. If she wanted to have kids, she would already have them before.

Yeah, but in real life Suleiman and Hurrem actually chose to stop having children long before she hit menopause for fear of her dying in child birth. Of course in real life Suleiman actually dismissed his harem and was faithful to Hurrem their whole marriage, and after she died he mourned her to the rest of her days. So this show doesn’t really accurately portray just how devoted he was to Hurrem.
Hurren is lucky that sulaiman choice to marrey all the hasiki or harrem jealous for hurren.

Hurrem had an unheard amount of princes and a girl. Even if she could why would she want anymore. Why Fatma is obsessed with it is beyond me.
Not unheard of, technically. The late Hafsa Valide apparently had 4 sons and 4 daughters with Sultan Selim. It came up in one of the 'dream sequences', when she was on her deathbed. Although only Süleyman survived to grow into a man. The three older brothers died from illness as kids.
I just find this interesting, because it should have made her more sympathetic to Hürrem, one should think. Because with that many kids, she must have had a similarly long-standing and close relationship with the late sultan, then Hürrem with Süleyman. But anyways. The scriptwriting and character development frequently doesn't make sense in this show 😆. If it wasn't for the outstanding cast, I would have stopped watching long ago!

Stupidity seems to run in Suleiman's sisters. Fatma seems the dumbest of them all. The least qualified to go to war with Hurrem. And for no reason. Sure, Hatice was insensible and immature but in her mind she had many reasons for wanting Hurrem gone. And Sah wanted to stop Hurrem so that Hatice could finally have peace. What's fatma's excuse;
She was there on Mustafa's request. As his spy and also personally wanted to avenge her sisters

Fatima exposed Hurrem for political reasons. It was a big deal for Hurrem because Suleiman's bed chamber would now have to be opened for other women as his wife would no longer be bearing further children. That was the whole point of the harem, to produce heirs for the continuation of the dynasty. Hurrem did not want to: (a) share Suleiman with other women, (b) have any more future princes challenging her sons. It was survival of the fittest amongst princes. Fatima wanted Hurrem's hold on Suleiman's heart to slacken by giving other harem women a chance to go to bed with the Sultan.

For me, I seriously think Fatma is the stupidest princess in the empire history😂 I know Hatice was Immature and Dramatic and Melancholy, She blamed Hurrem for Ibrahim's death and everything but Shah and other sisters know themselves Hurrem didn't do anything. Power for women relied on their youth, beauty and ability to have children, older women weren't considered desireable, not to mention useless because they couldn't produce heirs, it was a assumed the sultan would turn his attention to a younger fertile woman, which didn't happen in real life but only because Suleiman loved Hurrem, so he stayed faithful to her, something that was actually frowned upon
Women served as property of the Sultan. Her primary duty was to bear heir to serve the empire. If a woman left child bearing she was replaced. She lost her status, wealth and could be exiled to live in poverty or even killed. It was a big deal!!
