*I found my 756Pro3 fatiguing to listen to for long periods so I purchased a small Chinese 3w tube headphone amplifier, added it to the audio chain and Voilà, smooth audio.*
Great example of two completely different receivers. A tick on the wall for the ICOM IC-756PROlll. It absolutely slaughters the IC-7300 in all aspects... 73 De VK4FLJT Down Under 😊😎
My friend G7CAK introduced me to Icom and their menu with legendary filtering. I never looked back, they are each good but 7300 has better tone. However, small differences they are equally great radios. What a legend the PRO is, after all these years it still kicks ass against more modern radios. They need to re issue this for the next generation.
Total agree with your comment, strong construction and performance, now have the IC-7610, very happy with it, big screen, have no complaint at all. 73 from XE land.
I've since bought a 7300 and am satisfied with it. I think you'd have to spend a whole lot more money to do much better, except for the Elecraft KX3 which has an excellent receiver, but does not have the power and features of the 7300. The Spectrum Waterfall is so great that it should be as standard as a volume control. You see a signal and just tap it to go there (I use an ipad stylus). I'm even finding shortwave stations I never knew existed (and no, they are not all religious broadcasting). Some play pretty good music late at night when the ham bands are dead. The fidelity of the 7300's audio is pretty darn good. I sometimes see a dot moving across the band and makes a chirp when it crosses over where I'm tuned. I found out these chirp transmitters are to take ionosphere readings for research. Learn something new everyday.
I just sold my Pro 3...superb radio...bought it new 9 years ago just months before it was disco'd by Icom. It was flawless with few hours but the reason I sold it was because Icom no longer services them (for the most part) because many components are no longer available. I read horror stories of displays going dark for various reasons etcetera and little can be done. I'm ordering this 7300...I still have my Elecraft K3 for a good comparison to a "high end" radio...we shall see.
You do realize there is an aftermarket LED backbit Replacement LCD kit available for the pro-3 . The Pro-3 is an Iconic thoroughly field tested contest rig that even to this day gives much more modern radios a run for their money even at times surpassing them. there are still quite a few high end multi multi contest stations using pro-3's and that should tell you something. there have been several famous multi multi contest stations who got rid of their Pro-3's and switched to K3's only to switch back to pro-3s a few years later. It wasn't about performance but rather the efficiency of the user interface. The user interface of the Pro-3 is much better than the K3 for fast paced operating environments. they also realized that the hyped up lab specs of the K3 didn't really pan out to much of an advantage in the real world.
The market sometimes is rude specially with upcoming of nrw technologies, are you in USA? I recommend see different used equipment sites even eBay (please note the take a good share of the sale price) and make your desition, good luck. (I sold mine like 6-7 years ago for 650.00)
73's and Happy dx!!!

Both radios have the FIL 2, but the IC7300 have the Twin PBT (Passband Tuning) modified. You can see the dot on the screen It is not good compared this way. 73
the only thing this proves is that you cant do direct comparisons on you tube with dissimilar speakers... yes there going to sound different because of the perceived audio, not the performance difference....
I traded my 756pro3 in for my second 7300. The receiver in the 7300 is better than the pro3, and the transmitter stays cooler in digital modes. In other words the cooling efficiency is better in the 7300.
I guess it is all up to personal preference. I would love to have either one of those radios.....The 7300 right now is really affordable. The 756pro3 is like people think like they are sitting on a pot of gold and wont drop the price

David Israelyan ,, Dave, you have know idea how great the 775 DSP IS. If you have the right filters in the radio it will out perform 97% of the radios out there. I can make one filter change and have a 2.8 to 2.9 in transmit audio. When it comes to receive forget the 775DSP WILL DESTROY THAT RADIO WITH THE RIGHT FILTER SETUP. End of story

Disagree, the 756 has better tone, much lower frequency response. I think if you used the EQ, it could sound much better.
NB and NR off on 7300 ?
AGC is set slower on the PRO3...easy to see by just watching the S meter on both rigs.

Comparing receivers getting S9 signals is not much of a competition. Pretty sure most want to know how will it can dig out a weak signal.
Very much agree. I want to hear signals on the edge of receivability.

on the ProIII NB and NR are activated, on the 7300 not...

I've been on DMR the past few weeks due to crappy band conditions. I forgot how annoying static was.

It sweeps in real time and RX still active, beautifull.!!

I have both and i barely use the 7300, the Pro 3 is a hell of better radio.
756proIII more better

sounds like pro 3 got a better speaker
My icom 765 +roofing filter +fun cube dongle pro plus - more better...
Tienes el filtro2 desplazado en el 7300
Pro3 sounds more enjoyable to listen to....but don't know the settings on either (i.e. NR Levels, etc.)
756 sounds better, but 7300 seems to be able to filter out the noise better
I hear more noise on the 7300 because it's audio is more concentrated in the frequencies near the noise.
7300 has noisy receiver !!.
rf gain is also rolled a lot higher on the 7300 than the pro3 watch 5:25-5:45
Filter on the 756 pro 3 on narrow
mmmm el 756 trabaja pero muy biennnnnnnnnnnnn
tx is in split, so tuner is only set to 14 Mhz
this is a step above the all american 5 or the regen kg6mn
Gde 73 ✌️😎
